Rocket Century is a fun little gem of a furniture store. After being inspired by a store I went to in Tulsa, I wanted to explore what STL had to offer in way of hipster furniture stores.
The mid century modern antique is hot right now and Rocket Century is all about that. They have a small selection of stuff that's fairly nice. I teeter between 3 or 4 stars..I wasn't really into anything they had, but they had some fun pieces. It was all kind of expensive which I understand they have to pay the bills but not necessarily worth the trip unless you know what you're looking for.

Thank you so much for your insight Aaron! Our inventory is always changing, so be sure to also check out our web site at www.RocketCentury.com if you are looking for something in particular. It has detailed photos of each item, pricing, dimensions, and other info about every item available in our shop priced over $35. (We have many items less than that in store, but we know most people are looking for the big stuff) This lets our customers know right away if there is something they are looking for in their budget, including an "Items On Sale" section to check if a favorite piece has been reduced.

I've been visiting RC for years. The inventory moves through so much that it's always a different experience. And what great stuff it is! Started out a customer and became a friend. The staff is amazing!

While the mid-century furniture here is cool... there really isn't enough of it to warrant a trip... unless you heading to S. Grand anyway. We liked their stuff, but really there were only about a couple dozen or so significant furniture pieces to look at.

Thank you for your comment, and that is exactly why we are adding 3 more great dealers to our shop starting February 1, 2014. We will bring you a more expansive selection of great Vintage Modern Furniture, Artwork, and Accessories. You happened to catch us downsizing our current inventory in order to make room for all of the cool new stuff coming February 1. We will be the first Vintage Modern Only Collective in St. Louis, and we look forward to having you back when you have more to choose from. LOVE Rocket Century--what a wonderful addition to the South Grand family. Used to live in the neighborhood and have since moved to LA (a land ridden with awesome mid-century furniture for sale at an insanely overpriced rate) but was so happy to stumble in here on my visit back. Was able to purchase an adorable and fairly priced 48-piece dining set to take back with me. Couldn't have had better and more friendly customer service, either!

Well I walked in with the intention of buying one of those lovely record players they have, but I waited for someone to even greet meet me but they (3) were too busy chattering about someone who had just left the store. I waited in front of the piece I was interested in for several minutes , no one even noticed me. They continued to chatter on about this other customer so I turned around and walked out and still not a peep. The next thing I know the guy working there nearly knocks me over on the street because he saw the customer that was in the store before me and wanted his contact info. Sorry you had the chance to sell me something I have been looking for. But your total ignorance quashed any sale from me Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere to shop elsewhere. Never again...

Lauren, I apologize about this unusual occurrence. You should always be able to count on our place for attentive and friendly service, so it's a shame that you felt you were being ignored. Again, I apologize for the confusion and being distracted by other customers in a way that kept me from properly servicing you personally. After careful investigation of the matter, it came to my attention that you incorrectly assumed that customers in my shop were my employees, when they were not. (I was the only person working that day) The person you described was not my employee, but rather a regular customer who had been talking to another customer about something they had in common and he was excited about. My apologies that my customers were such a distraction. My shop is a place that regular customers, business neighbors, and people from the neighborhood often make themselves at home in while they are shopping, so again, my apologies for allowing them to distract me during your short visit to my shop. If there is ever an issue, I would like to be made personally aware of it so that I can address the issue properly. I wish you had simply asked for assistance instead of assuming my own customers who were taking my attention were my employees and that we were purposely ignoring you. I would have simply excused myself from them so that I could help you. You are always welcome to call the shop and speak to me directly, so that we can resolve this matter. Again, my apologies that your experience in my shop was not what you were hoping for. Let’s discuss this and get this right for you.

I was drawn into this boutique from a shell chandelier I saw having in the window and as I entered, I saw more and more treasures to add to my loft. Really great place to shop, great look and feel, and great customer service.

This place has the best selection of mid-century furniture and home decor. If I could afford to furnish my entire house with their goodies I would! For now, I'll keep getting some great pieces to spice up my apartment!

If you're on the hunt for well-priced, mid-century modern furniture and/or housewares in excellent condition, you must visit Rocket Century! On my last visit home I was thrilled to see such an excellent business occupying this space on South Grand. The owner was working when I stopped in, and she is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I walked out with a few items that didn't break the bank and are wonderful additions to my home.
