Since Rise has chiropractors and trainers, is it considered a medical setting? In this case, am I expected to tip my massage therapist for ART, which is more rehabilitative/medical than a regular massage?

Great gym - great variety and setup of weights for lifting, never has felt too crowded (busy, yes, but not overcrowded). Everytime I've gone, there is ALWAYS a person cleaning and space seems well cared for. I feel like and grateful for this facility!

I've been going to Rise ever since I moved to Alameda just a few months ago. When looking for a gym on the East End, there really aren't a ton of options, but of the options available, I felt Rise was the closest option to what I used to go to in the city.

In terms of the gym itself, there's a decent amount of equipment and things are pretty well-spaced out given the crowd at the gym (For reference, I'm speaking only to early mornings on the weekdays and mornings on weekends which are both not very crowded).

From a cleanliness perspective, the gym isn't cleaned all too often and this can be seen on some of the weights, benches, racks, and even the floors themselves (I've never actually seen staff clean the gym). In addition to this, they do not provide towels when working out, so you must bring your own. On a final note, the bathrooms aren't the cleanest (wouldn't recommend using the showers) and there is only a single window to the outside on the ground level which makes it quite dark inside.

All in all, the gym has the equipment that you need, isn't the cleanest inside, but is the best option on the East End given the other options available.

This review is for Dr. Brandon Fein who has helped me through numerous injuries using ART. He has great knowledge and knows how to talk you through what he's doing and how it's helping, and he has wonderful bedside manners. Unfortunately, I found out he's no longer at Rise, which is incredibly sad since I don't think I'll find anyone as good as him. I wished they did a better job of helping him out and getting him patients since there were too many times that Brandon was sitting idle. Someone this good should be booked solid each time!

These people are fraudulent and deceptive. I had been a regular customer at Rise. I had scheduled a massage, but on the day of, I woke up with a fever. When I tried to call and reschedule, they said they'd could do that but would need to still charge me for the cancellation. No class, stay away!!! Imagine if they spent as much time refuting what actually happened as opposed to doing the right thing by their customers. What a shameful group of people.

This place is just awful. It's incredibly sexist here. The men's locker room are nice, clean, and have a sauna. The women's locker room has no sauna, the floors are disgusting, and the showers don't drain. If you shower in them, the water just slowly fills up around you and is absolutely disgusting.

Despite this I still used this gym for a few months. Eventually I had enough, and I cancelled my account with them. Instead they did a soft cancellation and then started charging me again after 3 months. I paid them for months after this without realizing it. When I caught onto it, they refused to refund me, instead offering me free months of membership. No thanks.

I love this gym! The staff are always kind and greet you with a smile on their face.
I've seen John for a number of years for bodywork and he knows his stuff. His bodywork sessions have helped me through lots of various aches and pains.
I think John is doing a tremendous job running a great facility during these tough times. He and his staff care a lot about making this gym an open space for all and treating everyone like family!

Was visiting from SoCal and needed to get my gym fix in. $15 for a day pass and it has all the things you need to get a workout in. Pretty small but has a lot more specialized machines/equipment if you're into powerlifting from deadlift to safety squat bars.

Awesome gym. They have a lot of equipment and the price is reasonable. No long term contracts. You pay on a month to month with no initiation fees. Which works perfect for me since I travel for work. The staff is super friendly. Thank you Rise Bodywork's. I will definitely come back next time we are in alameda for work.

A few years back I went to Rise for chiropractic work due to shoulder blade pain. Dr. Beall worked his magic and I have not had a reoccurrence of the pain since!

I went back recently to try, for the first time, getting a lift and tint on my eyelashes. Felicia is both kind and patient and did a fabulous job. I'll admit I was a little freaked out as I've never done anything to my eyelashes, even using a handheld curling device. My eyelashes turned out so good that the next morning I woke up and caught a glimpse in the mirror, I thought I had left my mascara on. I actually had to stop and think that I didn't put any make-up on the day before.

My only complaint is that I don't live closer to Rise to be able to take advantage of more of the services they offer. This really is an outstanding business that offers so much to their clients.
