This is the worst motel I have ever stayed in. Place was dirty. Flush button for toilet is on top of tank. Can't push the button because the counter covers most of the button. The beds make so much noise like sleeping on sheet metal .There appears to be what drug dealers in back parking lot. I will never stay here again Red roof should take away franchise because it most definitely does not live up to their standards. They tell you that you have to use key card to get in the building. Great security nice.well it would be if the back door wasn't open. This place doesn't deserve the 1 star I gave it.

We have been staying at Red Roof Inns during our long trip because of their pet friendly policy and because for a reasonable price we can be sure to have a fridge for insulin and a microwave to heat water and real food (rather than always eating out or prefab stuff).

We did not have a bad experience here, not like some of the usual one-star reviews, with exclamation marks and dire warnings. How come when I check those reviewers a lot of their reviews are one-star? Sometimes I think we customers need to be reviewed also. That might explain a lot.

Anyway, I give it four stars due to some minor issues, but if I was motivated mostly by money issues, I would take away a star. This was the most expensive Red Roof for us yet, especially in the south which are usually priced lower. I try to reserve online ahead, because an employee told me there are sometimes discounts online that aren't available to them. But this time the screen said if I was ready to reserve, then call this number. Perhaps this particular hotel does not want to offer special rates, even to their rewards members. So expect to pay a bit more than average.

The desk clerk was friendly, and directed us to a doorway nearby outside. We parked and went in that door, but we didn't see our room number listed on the wall pointing out room sequences. My wife's knee has been bothering her on this trip, so we didn't hunt for our room. Instead I went back to the office to ask about it, and an older employee had joined the clerk, and she was specific and clear when she said, honey, drive all the way down and then turn left and drive all the way down and your room is the second one inside that entrance. So I did and it was. Short walk. Thank you, ma'am.

As for our room, it was spacious and clean. Again, a few minor issues. I noticed the connecting door to the next room was unlocked. I had to close it very firmly and push in hard on the door to engage the lock. I am sure our neighbors that night were fine, but still it is a potential danger not having that door standardly checked and locked whenever the room is cleaned. Also, the safe didn't work. We didn't need it, but I wanted to close it because it was hanging all the way open. I am a klutz and would surely have hit against it at least once. I had to prop it closed. The ice machine is a bit of a hike from this room, but my knees are fine and I would rather be close to our parked car than to the ice machine.

The toilet tank was constantly draining a little and the bath tub drain plug was broken and sitting on the shampoo/soap holder. But really, except for the connecting door lock, these are tiny issues and I have the life skills to rise above them. Overall the room was large, clean, airy and fine. There are gas stations and stores and restaurants nearby, so that is convenient. Maybe it is worth the handful of extra dollars after all.

I stayed twice in this motel; once heading north, once a month later returning south. The first time was ok. Not great but clean. Last time was terrible. In the morning I woke to dying cockroach near the bed. Smell of cigarette residue permeated the bedroom and stunk in the bathroom like someone was smoking in there. Mold in corner at tub, outlet didn't work, and stains on the walls.

If I could give this place 0/5 stars I would.
The rooms are disgusting, the entire building smells like cigarettes and marijuana, and there were bugs everywhere throughout our room. We were itching to get back on the road. The patchwork on the walls/ceiling were absolutely horrifying. I felt entirely unsafe here.

I am not a Red Roof user typically, but stayed here tonight as the entire area was booked. Yes I am a hotel
Snob, yet this hotel has new everything. Updates are nice and everything clean. It was a nice experience!

If you're looking to stay at a roach motel you've found it.
      Red Roof Inn Lumberton NC
      Room 116
We checked in on a Friday night around 9:15 pm after an 11 hour drive to rest for the night to continue our trip after having a good nights sleep. That never happened..... when we finally got to bed, after about an hour I felt something crawling on me. When I turned on the light it was a roach. I was totally skeeved out and kept the lights on. When my wife went to the bathroom she found what was probably the offspring of the roach crawling on me on the bathroom floor. Shortly after, another roach was spotted on the dresser. When I opened the refrigerator there even was a dead roach In the crisper section (bottom tray). That was more than enough for us. At 4:15 am we got dressed and checked out. We complained to the desk clerk who stated we needed to call them after 9am to speak to the manager for some type of resolution. When we called at 9 am we were told the manager comes in at 4 pm. When I finally was able to speak to the manager she proceeded to tell me that we should have asked for another room instead of leaving (as if roaches would only be contained to one room), and that the exterminator went In to the room at 10 am that morning and found no evidence of roaches. She even said I should have taken pictures of the roaches we had found. Trust me doing a roach photo shoot at 4 in the morning was not my top priority. She was extremely rude and totally unapologetic. Practically blaming us for the issue.

Take my advice and look elsewhere for a place to stay.

I do not Recommend anyone staying at the Red Roof Inn in Lumberton, NC. This wasn't our first choice. However when we were ready for a room. This was the only hotel. Other than the sink not working. The other items we found later in our stay. At which point it was too late to go anywhere else.
You ask what could be, that was so wrong:
      1. The sink would not drain. After it slii our slowly drained during the night. My husband found that had the sink been cleaned properly. It would not have had the issue which was: someone bent the drain stopper it would not open up.
      2. Dust on my mercy behind the night stands
      3. The tub was not cleaned
      4. The tub/shower ceiling had MOLE
      5. The bathroom door still had the outline of a mirror that had been on that door for a very long time.
      6. Den opened up the Kleenex package only to find them wet. Possible someone before us made coffee. They were wet and yet never used.
Below are the pictures we took of the room. I thank the photos will speak for themselves. I think they offered very poor resolution for this mess. 20% off our next stay at their Red Robin Inn. Which of course will
Not be happening. This review not allowing pictures sorry.
