Been coming to this hidden gem for years. Prior to the pandemic, my friend and I would come once a week to get our $1 oyster fix in. They still offer the happy hour menu from 4pm - 6pm. This includes 35cent peel-and-eat shrimp (always so tasty!) and $2 Modelo or whatever beer of choice they have at the time. If you go to their website, they update their specials daily. They do still offer the $1 gulf oysters and $2 East Coast oysters! They have a nice variety as well. We recently got to try about 8 different types of oysters which was fun. We always sit at the bar when we come. The service is the same ladies who have been there for years. They definitely favor the regulars. Its a 'dive bar' style feel when it comes to the service.
They do offer really fresh seafood to purchase to cook at home. They used to offer cooking classes and other cool things here unsure if they still do this or not, I didn't see anything on their wall when I last went. Plenty of parking which is always a bonus. We have eaten with groups at the tables too and can confirm their menu food is just as good as the bar food.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - 49166524300Dec 6, 2023
I heard so many great things about quality seafood. I was so excited to stock up on fresh fish and what ever else I thought I would love.
The parking lot is pretty large. Which is such a gem in Austin. Am I right? They are near the highway too, so easy to get to and easy to leave. Just zip right back on the highway.
Quality Seafood is a market and a restaurant. They're attached. You can literally sit down and eat, order food, and order fresh market food to go. How convenient.
As you walk in, the market is to your left and the restaurant is to your right. The bar sets them apart. The being in the middle.
They have a long section displayed of fish on ice. They do have muscles as well.
They sell beer and wine. And also some frozen foods too.
Service was wonderful. I did ask a few questions, but for the most part, everything was labeled and basically straight forward.
They do have Maine lobster, and I'm thrilled to see Maine. I don't buy anything that says "Northern Atlantic" has to say Maine. Maine has strikes catching guidelines. Good for us and good for the future of lobsters.
A lot of fish is farmed raised. I was hoping for wild caught. Maybe it's just the season. Not a lot of wild caught fish in the winter months. I'm not sure.
I did pick up Texas Brown Tail Shrimp. I think that's what they are called. The sign did say off the Coast of Texas. I did clean them up at home and cooked them for dinner that night. I used Gochujung Olive oil, which is a spicy olive oil and a little Coconut balsamic vinegar. The shrimp was outstanding. Took the flavors very well. Shrimp was soft and flavorful. Turned out to be a great dinner.Helpful 79Thanks 8Love this 54Oh no 0 - 115232317Nov 10, 2023
Name a place for what it is. Nothing fancy, just straight to the point, and Quality does that!! While it's one of the only seafood markets in town, it's by far our favorite! The wholesale staff is great, and always happy to help out with preparation, answering questions, and making sure you have ice to transport your new treasures home with!
They even have a great selection of seasonings, sauces, some veggies, beer/wine, and things of the like, to help you with your whole meal plan! The selection is always on point, and can vary, but they had a great wide variety of stuff. If you go in the afternoon, you'll likely find that they are out of a lot, so I recommend going early if you can, or placing a special order if you need something specific, which I have in the past!
The restaurant is good, don't get me wrong, but it's just straightforward seafood, and there's nothing wrong with that! If you want good, honest food, no frills, no fancy plates, then this is your meal ticket!! It's always rockin in here, full of regulars and new comers alike, and the drinks are always flowing at the bar with the oysters and peel and eats!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jan 17, 2024
This local spot is definitely a hidden gem for any seafood lovers. $1 oysters from 4pm - 6 pm, great deal and fresh. We got the options between west or east coast oyster. There's plenty of seating and also a bar. You can also purchase other items to the home since it's also a store. The steam shrimps were small but definitely fresh. Gumbo had a nice flavor. They had a few different cooked oysters but the original Rockefeller oysters were definitely my favorite. We ordered at the counter and a sever brought us our food. Not a fancy place, just a local spot for quality seafood.

IYKYK - but really, Quality Seafood is providing all your seafood needs! The shop is a half fish market/half dine-in restaurant. What we really come for is their weekend deals which are such a steal! $1 oysters, $25 crab legs, and $30 whole lobster!! Fresh, buttery goodness that makes you feel like you're on the coast!

remodel opened up place- large open cafeteria now. OK, but not great, moderate $$ but high for quality served. Clam chowder is too herbed, some weird flavors obscure clam flavor. actually, more Potato Chowder. Mussels are excellent. Fried clam app is all breaded, few small clams. good salad, good fried shrimp taco. They have Matlaw's frozen stuffed clams!!! but $25/dozen.

This is a fairly priced seafood restaurant. You pick out your food at the counter and they bring it to your table. A nearby bar to choose your cocktails or beer. I really liked the grilled trout and the french fries were wonderful. It's more of an open space cafeteria. To get a meal for $20 in Austin is unusual and so I would recommend it for less expensive seafood.

Definitely a hidden gem and hole in the wall vibe. Food is delicious. Seafood is incredibly fresh. Menu is amazing.
Shrimp Etouffee - 4/5
French Fries - 5/5
Coconut Shrimp - 5/5
Fried Cod - 5/5
Cornbread - 4/5
Buttermilk Pie - 4/5
The fried cod is sooo fresh and soo delicious. The coconut shrimp were very tasty and came with a sweet sauce. Cornbread and pie were good, but the cornbread was a tad bit dry. Pie could have been sweeter. Really great place.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1
