For New Yorkers, Sunday brunch is a tradition. Spending the early afternoon eating a delicious meal followed by cocktails is a great way to pass the time with loved ones or recover from an adventurous weekend. But many restaurants in New York offer similar brunch menus limited to eggs, salads, and cocktails. If you are on the Upper East Side or in Hell's Kitchen and would like to add some flavor to your brunch, lunch, or dinner, visit La Pulperia. La Pulperia opened its first location on the Upper East Side in September of 2014. Named after traditional grocery stores found in Latin America, this restaurant blends the rustic flavors of Latin cuisine with traditional dishes from Spain and Italy. Popular brunch dishes include ceviche, tacos, tostadas, and tender burrata. Drink specials are also available with brunch and include $25 bottomless sangria, screwdrivers, Bloody Marys, and mimosas from 12 to 4 p.m. For $5 more, you can try one of La Pulperia's signature cocktails such as La Loca or El Chilango. If you can't make it to La Pulperia for brunch, their lunch and dinner options won't disappoint. This South American restaurant specializes in seafood, and some of their most popular entrees include Chilean Verlasso salmon, Spanish pulpo and Brazilian moqueca mixta, a seafood stew native to the Latin American country. To accompany your meal, enjoy a refreshing glass of wine, a draught or bottled beer, or a specialty cocktail crafted with top-shelf liquor...

Had a reservation for a big group during the Saturday Drag Brunch. Super energetic and loud inside with a couple performers getting things started while everyone is getting seated.
Unlimited Brunch is pretty expensive - $30 for just mimosas, $40 for all cocktails (excluding the meal). Nonetheless cave to peer pressure and did the unlimited cocktails. Good: El Chilango, Vampiro, Mimosa
Not Good: Bloody Mary, La Loca
As for food, ordered the regular Fritatta ($18) - a layering of eggs, spinach, potatoes, tomatoes, and a whole lot of cheese. Good flavor and surprisingly not overbearing.
Service started off super slow, then sped up as everyone was settled and the show was happening. Liked the drag queens, not so much the pricing.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 21, 2019
Drag Brunch was one of the best meals of my 32yrs! Misty and Petty were amazing hosts and put on an amazing show. The food was also excellent, I had the frittata and my friend enjoyed the empanadas. We both thoroughly enjoyed it.
I would advise you to beware of the bottomless mimosas! They are fantastic and strong and the waitstaff hustle to keep them full, but it was easy to over indulge. Thankful my friend was there to keep on eye on me.
Tip: Bring cash to tip the queens, they're working hard for that money and they'll definitely give you a fantastic show for a little extra incentive.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 12, 2018
Wow this place blew me away with it's stellar service, delicious food, and lovely interior. As a resident of UES, I will be coming here again and again.
Food:
My friend and I ordered the following to share:
-Lobster taquitos ($12)
-Pulpo (octupus) ($33)
-Seafood pasta ($33)
-Sangria ($10)
Lobster taquitos: comes with four on a plate. Not very big but oh my God...it's DELICIOUS. Its very flavorful and refreshing - I would definitely get this again.
Pulpo (octopus): Wow - just wow. I saw the yelp reviews raving this dish so I gave it a shot. This dish arrives with a generous helping of octopus, two dipping sauces, and three mini portions of eggplant, potatoes, and greens.
Seafood pasta: very very good - creamy and flavorful.
Sangria: BIG glass of sangria.
Service: I was really blown away by the service. Very attentive and friendly staff all throughout our dinner. Ramon stopped by our table at the end to make extra care to chat with us and made sure we walked out with a huge smile. Thank you!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Nov 18, 2019
La Pulperia UES is a solid, traditional Mexican restaurant. The food and service are good, but nothing special. The pork sandwich is very good with thin, fried slices of pork with a spicy mayonnaise. While not particularly Mexican, it is a good option. The drinks are good too.

The service was good. The bartender was friends and efficient. Took a little to get the check though. The food was good had lots of flavor. The reason for the 3 starts is this place seems to Bourgeoisie for my taste. The portions are small and lacks an authentic Latin feel. Worth a try. I won't be back though.

Overall nothing special.
DRAG QUEEN BRUNCH: the ladies were fabulous. One strange bit was when she ran around with a big, black trashbag collecting cash...? Just felt a little tacky. Everything else about the show was fabulous 8/10
THE FOOD:
We were not allowed to place our appetizers first. We had to order everything together, which was frustrating because we were waiting on someone.
The apps were great. The queso was not what I expected. Shallow cast iron dish of melted cheese and big chunks of chorizo sausage....served with bread since it was way too thick to be eaten with chips. It was too much. Something that could at least be eaten with chips would have been better.
Their brunch menu was fairly limited, and I did not much care for my entree either. 6/10
THE DRINKS:
I ordered bloody marys and my friend ordered their version of a bloody maria. They were both delicious and STRONG! Someone else at our table ordered one of their mixed drinks that she said was pretty sweet. 10/10
THE SERVICE:
Our server was a tiny little woman with a giant heart and insanely quick drink-refill-reflexes. 10/10Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sylvia B.Manhattan, NY1723641281Apr 13, 2019
Honestly, some of the slowest service I have ever received.
Management had to remake our white sangria twice because it was basically just watered down white wine without any fruit and they even admitted that it was bad so we switched it to a red sangria. They said because of the trouble they would provide a free refill of our pitcher, which never came.
Food orders were taken about 45 minutes after we were seated and then another 45 minutes until we saw any dishes arrive at our table.
Thankfully the dishes were pretty good (pulpo, hangar steak, and farro salad with steak). The steak in the salad was a bit tough and difficult to slice, given they just gave me a butter knife.
I don't think I'll be returning because the service was that bad, even though the food was pretty good.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - 671591987Jan 6, 2020
The food here is absolutely divine. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection. Cocktails were beautifully presented and delicious. There was a DJ when we came by so the ambiance was lively. The portions were rather small for the prices, but I would definitely recommend this place! I will be stopping by again.

I've been meaning to try this place since it opened a couple of years ago (or so it seems). No wait to speak of on a Saturday night in August (is that good or bad??). Friendly staff. Menu is not extensive but seems reasonably authentic. Some of the entree prices are a bit lofty (north of $30), although there were a few salad options in the lower $20 range.
Lobster taquitos starter was both crispy and creamy, albeit again a bit expensive at $21. Guacamole and chips solid, although a bit of a repeater! Monkfish was executed well, as was the warm farro with shrimp. There was some confusion around the branzino special: we were offered (and ordered) two sides. When everything arrived, we waited for the sides and finally inquired about them. Turns out, sides don't come with it. It's all good, though it would've been good to have been proactively told that instead of being left to decide if we ask about them or just let it go.
Given the culinary wasteland that's called the UES, not bad. Probably a B+.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 1072112967May 17, 2017
Absolutely lovely experience. I came here for dinner with a friend. Mondays are HH all day and Tuesdays are apparently ladies' night so our first drinks were on the house.
This is a seafood featuring restaurant so I was a little worried that I wouldn't find anything to eat because I'm a vegetarian (my friend picked the place) but you have a few options. I got the chips and guac and the truffle fries (which were part of the night's special so I don't know if they're offered every day).
While the guac was solid, the fries BLEW me away. They're not just fries, they are served with sliced avocado, well seasoned with a egg on top (done sunny side up and a little runny) so for an app, it is very filling and perfectly delicious!
The sangria they served was great as well (I'd recommend the red over the white).
Our experience was smooth as well. Each staff member was incredibly polite, nice and accommodating.
10/10 will dine again. Next time I'd like to check out the midtown spot.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
