This is the second time I've taken out from Poke Bowl. I am BEYOND satisfied. I love this place because it is clean, fresh, and delicious. Both times I took out, I ordered the build your own bowl with salmon as my protein, I added all the toppings to fill the flavor of the bowl. The toppings range from cucumber and jalapeños, to mango and pineapple, they have flavors for every taste bud.
I have found that many poke places have very fishy fish, however this is not the case at all here. The salmon tastes so fresh and yummy with their homemade soy sauce. All the toppings they offer are delicious and fresh. I like how you are free to add unlimited toppings without being charged extra (which discludes avocado and crab salad). I am so excited there is a Poke bowl place like this is Northern Liberties....
Price is a little high but you really get what you pay for because of the quality and freshness of all the ingredients.
If you like Poke, go try for yourself, you will not be disappointed!!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 9335537090Aug 19, 2016
Unlike a Facebook Poke, Poke is not annoying, creepy or kind of outdated. It's a delicious mess of raw fish, sauces, rice, vegetables and fruit (if you're into that) and it's very hip and cool!
After travelling to Hawaii and trying the delicious stuff, a need for poke has slowly been poking my brain for 3 years, and I've been fiending for poke, searching yelp every few months, scouring menus, and dreaming of a place like this opening. So when I suggested (demanded) that my friends stop here during the 2nd Street Festival, they said: OKAY POKE!
Poke Bowl follows the Chipotle model where you pick:
- a fishy protein - tuna, salmon, albacore, shrimp, octopus, crab meat ($1 upcharge)
- a base - white, brown, or mixed rice, mixed greens, kale salad (why)
- veggies/fruit - cukes, jalapenos, onions, pickled ginger, seaweed, avo (like chipotle, there's a $1 upcharge for this), pineapple, radish, tobiko, nori, tomatoes (again why)
- toppings - (hawaiian salt, furikake (rhymes with a dirty word but tastes delicious), sesame seeds, chili flakes)
- sauces - shoyu, unagi, sriracha aioli, wasabi ailoi, spicy shoyu, ponzu
If you're like me, this will overwhelm you and you will pick one of their preset bowls, probably the the sweet and spicy trio, because it has salmon, tuna, AND octopus, and those were the three meats you were deciding between. This bowl was delicious, really liked the octopu and it wasn't too spicy. Small starts at $9.25 and is 3 scoops, while a large starts at $11.50 and boasts 5 scoops. 2 of us split a large as an afternoon snack, another friend ate a large bowl by herself and was fine too, if that gives you some idea.
There's a skinny bar with a few high stools, so yea they're pretty much poking you out the door. But worry not, the edible orchid on top photographs much better outside, and your instagram followers will thank you.
Poke, man. You gotta catch it all.Helpful 11Thanks 0Love this 10Oh no 0 - 118711799959Jul 11, 2016
I have a running list of places I'd like to try in and around the city. I think I do a good job checking places off the list and only go back to those I truly enjoy. I don't think I've ever had the craving to go back to one place immediately. I've certainly never acted on those cravings... until Poke Bowl!
I checked this place out with a few friends late Friday. I got a small bowl with tuna and shrimp. As it was late, they were out of mixed green so I chose kale with ginger dressing. I loaded up the toppings and waited for my friends bowls to arrive before digging in. I was extremely satisfied especially with how fresh the fish tasted. As I ate, I was thrilled with how packed it was with all the toppings I ordered (cucumber, tomato, ginger, seaweed, pineapple, mango, etc). As important, I was happy with exactly how much fish comes in 3 scoops!
So when I found myself in the general area Saturday afternoon for a UYE, I steered the conversation towards food and this new place I discovered last night. With a few more friends in toe, back I came for a salmon and tuna bowl. I did mix up the base, dressing, and toppings. However, the end result, my tummy's satisfaction, was the same.
As you read this review, you may see a few other less stellar reviews. I understand the potential confusion and can see a wait developing when this place is packed. However, I've never waited more than a few minutes to order. I also haven't ordered crab or avocado, which carry a small extra fee. My experience speaks to their improvement (and also the value of their frequent visitor card)!Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0 - Jul 20, 2016
When I moved here 4 years ago I was sad to find not a single Hawaiian or poke restaurant in the area. When I found out this place was opening, I was so excited!
The place is new and sleek, but unfortunately the first thing I noticed was the multiple spelling errors on their giant menu, and unappealing sharpie marks to correct most of them.
This place takes a whole lot of care in creating your personalized poke bowl, from the sauce, meat, toppings, and decorations. But as a result, the lines move extreeeemeeelyyyy sloooowwwly. Also, it's a bit pricey for the size: $12 for a "large" bowl that was actually quite small. Still, it satisfied the craving that in the past required me to take a flight back home.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - 332254617Jul 7, 2017
Overall, I really enjoy this place every time I go.
The good- the food is tasty. I get the mixed bowl that has salmon tuna and octopus, and all the fixins, and it's really delicious. Everything I've had has always tasted fresh. The service is also friendly!
The not so good- the space is small, so there's limited seating, though it's never been too crowded when I've been there. It's also on the expensive side compared to how much food you actually get.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 30, 2019
As for poke places, this one give you a slightly smaller portion but the quality is a little higher. The avocado on the side is the tiniest little scoop, but other than that, toppings are pretty numerous. They have a rewards program if you use a phone number at check out, so if you'd like to come multiple times, definitely check it out. It's in an odd location that I never remember exists, but finally walking past it once, I was inspired to try it! Get a pre-made bowl instead of creating your own. Lovely wasabi aioli!

This place is good. A little pricey, but good.
Any time I've ordered in store, the order has been correct because I've watched it being made; however, when I've ordered online, the order was missing items that I paid extra for, such as avocado and tobiko. While I was refunded money for the missing items, it's still kind of annoying to go through the process when it's an easy fix.
I'll only come here when I know I have time to physically come into the store and not just pickup on my way elsewhere.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 22, 2018Updated review
I gave this place another try since my boyfriend likes coming here. I have to say, I do enjoy the taste of the food and the portion of the food. It definitely fits me up. I love the unlimited toppings as well.
Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Oct 19, 2017Previous reviewThis is my first time trying this place out. My boyfriend had it before and raved about how great the poke bowls are.
I got the diy poke bowl instead of the set bowls. I ordered a small which came with 3 scoops of protein for about $10 and he got a large which came with 5 scoops of protein for $14. The scoops are very very small but I guess it's because fish is expensive? For your base, you can get rice, salad, or half half. You get almost unlimited toppings and sauces. There are certain items that are additional cost.
I was full after eating my bowl, I think mainly because of the amount of rice they put in my bowl. Also, I ordered a bunch of toppings too..
The staff could've been more friendlier. The prices are a bit on the expensive side. And the place could've been cleaner. Some of my food fell onto the counter and they just put it back in my bowl instead of tossing it on the trash. (I don't know how clean the counter was...)
I'll probably come back in the near future..
