I was skeptical to go because of the previous reviews, but my vagina has needs so I went... and I am so glad that I did. PP Perth Amboy is now my primary gyno care place! It was my first time ever to a gynecologist and I felt really comfortable.
Making an appointment was really easy, they were very easy to talk to, and I felt less nervous. The intake ladies when I went for my appointment were very sweet, charming, and funny. They also go the extra mile for patients! Another girl walked in a little bit after me with an emergency situation, and when she pointed it out they immediately took her in to see the doctor (She's okay btw!).
The wait time wasn't bad, it felt longer than it actually was lol, maybe 15 minutes. The nurse was nice and understanding, as it was my first time to the gynecologist, so I didn't feel like I was dumb for asking certain questions. I also absolutely loved the gynecologist who was working there, she walked me through everything and was very thorough about certain topics I wanted to know about, and I felt so comfortable; and as a survivor of sexual trauma, that means something to me to feel comfortable when I'm that exposed and experiencing something for the first time.
It was a great, safe experience! I didn't feel judged, I didn't feel scared (a little nervous, but that quickly changed), I felt respected, and I am very pleased with my experience.

Wait time wasn't that bad and service was like a 6 or 7/10. They answered since basic questions about birth control pills but didn't seem like they tried to engage with anyone and actually help; only that they were there because it's just a job.

      First to Review

When I think Planned Parenthood, I think about when I was 16 and wanted to go on birth control but didn't want to tell my parents. I went to the local Planned Parenthood and got an exam, got the pills, and even some condoms. It was great. So when I was between OBGYNs due to a move, I stopped by the Planned Parenthood close to my office for help. I've been getting my Depo shots there ever since.

The problem with Planned Parenthood is that they don't take appointments for getting a Depo injection. And they don't fit you in, even though from door to door it's less than 8 minutes (I timed it after waiting over 2 hours to be seen, within 8 minutes of them calling my name, I was walking out to my car.). This is a very big problem. I jump down to PP on my lunch break and, when they have Depo in stock (twice now I've waited over half an hour just to be told they were out of stock), I wait 1 hour plus. True, this most recent time of over 2 hours is rare. But it's always 45 minutes to an hour.

The lack of communication in the office is atrocious. The receptionist should be giving a run down of everyone waiting and what they need, so when the chick needing a pregnancy test is waiting for results, the nurses can poke me in the belly really quick (that's how Depo is administered) and send me on my way. I don't understand why they take one person and work them start to finish before even considering the next patient.

A friend once said to me that when healthcare is concerned, you're going to pay. And if you don't pay with money, you'll pay with time. PP is the epitome of this. I'm always super frustrated when I leave, but have another move coming up (and need this stupid shot every 3 months) so I can't really start a new relationship with a new OBGYN if I don't plan to be in the area much longer.

ANAZING PEOPLE that go the extra mile for you. I went in for a routine appointment since my obgyn is always so booked. Making an appointment was easy and little to no waiting time. The reviews online scared me but I'm glad I went in myself and saw how warm and caring everyone there is.

Waste of my time. Staff was indifferent. I could hear two of them talking about me before one saw me just to tell me to make another appointment and come back next week. They had no problem taking my copay and wasting my time. I'm not going back to pay another copay.
