Before the Google hating began, this was the epitome of all the good food of Google. It is avant garde, it is fresh, it is beautifully arranged on a small plates. It is the closest I have had to tapas on The Peninsula.
The food is very Barcelona in all the best senses. It is fresh, it is thoughtful, it is well prepared, it is pleasing to the eye and would pair well with many beers and wines (not served). The deserts are really delish here. You hae to save space.
Pintxo, 5ive, No Name and Euro are my favorite Google cafeterias. They have fresh ingredients, aren't too fussy and all have a thoughtful well prepared menu. If you have a Google friend, ask to go. =) - 549148318857/27/2008
The best and most impressive food I have tried on Google campus.
Highlights:
- Highest quality food: If you ignored your location for a minute, you could pretend you were in a 5 star restaurant. This place definitely had that wow factor for me.
- Presentation: small white triangle plates and artistic design of the food presentation add to the upscaleness of this cafe's offerings.
- Open kitchen: very professional. You get the sense that real top chefs are pumping out this food.
- Tapas: small portions so I can try more things.
- Scallop ceviche: are you freakin kidding me? Thin slices and soft texture with a bit of garnish.
- Bocadillos: there were a few, but the one I grabbed was spanish ham, grilled eggplant, prosciutto, and pesto.
- Sliced black bean chicken: heard this was incredible
- Lots of seafood items
Lowlights (my flip side to highlights):
- I couldn't possibly try it all, but I really wanted to.
Definitely one of the must to visit places if I return for Google eats. - Claudine C.San Francisco, CA2494227366/6/2008
I've been to this Google cafe a couple of times now, thanks to the good graces of my husbandton, and his generous employer. Pintxo's is a self-styled tapas bar, serving bits and bites of everything. There is a salad section for the vegavores, charcuterie and antipasto, 3-4 different kinds of soup, and then small hot and cold plates... last time I was there dishes of note included a white peach gazpacho, a tiny bocadillo of prosciutto and vegetables, Korean-style ribs with house kimchee, sauted bok choy, and my favourite - a dessert dish of rosewater panna cotta. They also usually have 2-3 dessert dishes, along with fresh fruit and a wonderful selection of cheeses (Brillat Savarin & Comte today). Not everything is always on point - the fist dish was a little overcooked, albeit served in a very delicious sauce with a nice caramelized leek...
The husband declares that this is his favourite cafe at Google so far. - Kathleen M.San Jose, CA1000168314810/11/2008Updated review
ONE OF MY BEST BITES FOR JULY 2007 - JUNE 2008
I never really understood the appeal of creme brulee until I tried Pintxo's Ginger Pot de Cream. I was already pretty full by the time I got to dessert so I kept meaning to only eat only one more bite, but pretty soon the entire thing was devoured. Even my usually creme brulee averse husband got in on the action.6/13/2008Previous reviewThat's pronounced "Pintxo." As in Bronson Pinchot (just the Pinchot part of course). (I use "Perfect Strangers" as my gauge in pronouncing all Google restaurants.)
I wish actual Spanish restaurants in the Bay Area were like Pintxo. 1) Everything was amazing, and 2) Everything was free.
Seriously though, I only tasted four dishes (not counting the plain old strawberries) and everything was delicious, or as Gordon Ramsey would say, "Spot on."
Here's what I ate:
Halibut with Aioli - Moist halibut topped with a dab of garlic aioli that really added to the dish.
Trout tartare - This tasted really fresh and clean and was topped by something I'd never seen before - some sort of olive/caper hybrid. (If anyone can suggest what it is, I'd appreciate it.) I got the only one trout tartare which illustrates the dangers of eating dinner at Google - food runs out quickly.
Ratatouille - This vegetarian mix of squash and eggplant was super flavorful.
Ginger Pot de Cream - This was served with a crme brulee crust and this was so good I kept stopping and saying I wouldn't have any more and then I'd take another bite. The ginger had a very nice subtle flavor. My husband usually shies away from creme brulees and custards but he really liked this, too.
Fresh Strawberries
They mostly use tapas size plates here. I wish there was a little more in terms of decor, but the place is small. The only nod to Spanish decor is in the brightly colored plates on the short wall area above the food area next to the ceiling.
My Google Restaurant Rankings:

4) Pure Ingredients Cafe
5) Andale
6) Slice
7) Cafe Moma
8) Oasis
9) Charlie's

That's right - I've got a new favorite restaurant at Google. And it's tricky to pronounce. - T E.Pasadena, CA4369653271/29/2009
Is this a review? Or am I just gloating at having had wonderful free tapas at the Google Campus?
Yeah, the latter. Haha.
:: SMUG FACE ::
Seriously though, one has to wonder why the elegant and excellent small dishes served up by Pintxo are wasted on gimpy software engineers preoccupied with chrome/firefox issues. Hopefully, it's only a matter of time before Pintxo go solo somewhere to the locals' delight. - Sarah Z.San Francisco, CA414349109/19/2008
On your first visit to Google, you are amazed and grateful and wear your visitor badge proudly.
Upon your 10th or so visit you start demanding only the good stuff. Pintxo is definitely gooood stuff :) - Hendrick L.Sunnyvale, CA563713602/25/2008
By far, one of the better quality cafe's at Google. I've been there a few times, and the quality has been the best of all the cafeteria's I've been to. In writing this review, I'm trying not to be too heavily influenced by the free factor - you can't beat free though.
They keep the food well stocked except later in the evening. My only complaint is that the selection isn't as varied, but I guess I can always go to another cafeteria. It's a great addition to the Google cafe portfolio. - Neil R.Newark, CA2833855293/4/2009
I like this place for Lunch... always good food and great variety. Dude their staff is always friendly. I mean I go here mostly for that.
Desserts here kick ass! - William C.San Francisco, CA1218312/3/2006
Pintxo simply rocks. They've got an awesome selection of foods, such as smoked salmon, steaks tartare, shrimp cocktails, lobster bisque, french onion soup, etc. The emphasis definitely is on quality over quantity here, just the way I like it. But since this is a Google cafeteria, it's also all you can eat anyway! Perfect! I'd eat here every day if only I worked closer to Building 47.

LOL!! I can't believe people are yelping Google cafeterias -- crazy!
Pinxto is at the top of the cafe list for the Mountain View Google campus. The tapas are sometimes better than ones I've had at top-rated tapas restaurants in the Bay Area. The wide selection and thoughtful presentation of each dish makes for an exciting lunch -- especially when you consider the fact that this is a (free) lunch from WORK!
If you work in the MV office, Pinxto is worth the extra walk. And yes, you'll definitely need to grab a tray (or 2).
