Ive been here before and was so impressed by the atmosphere, service and food that I forgot to review. Well Im back for lunch and met with the same experience as before. You wouldn't make this your go to for all things Asian at first glance. But, give it a try and be surprised!

Came in during my lunch break to catch up with some friends. Upon entering the restaurant was very clean and staff was ready to work! The menu is filled with different options but I quickly cut to the lunch menu section. I scanned to see what they have for vegetarians. I ordered the Vegetable Deluxe which comes with steamed or fried rice, egg roll, and soup (egg drop or hot and sour). Plate included broccoli, onions, carrots, and mushrooms. The vegetable deluxe is great for vegetarians because they don't use any meat broth. The food came out quick which is great for lunch time and it was hot and fresh. Overall everything was fine, the food and service.

Absolutely disgusting!!!! I hate leaving bad review but this is unacceptable, if I have to choose good thing to say about this plce is their plate presentation
Atmosphere: (3/5)
* First walked in it seems like to be a good experience because the lights and how the place was set up
Food: (2/5)
* The plate presentation was great, big portion but the flavor wasn't enjoyable, so bland and old
Staff: (1/5)
* Aggressive, pushy, and neglectful
Cleanliness: (1/5)
* There was a cockroach on the table enough said
Good hang out spot: Ehh....Helpful 10Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Oct 19, 2016
I was at Egg & I last week and saw this place where Earl of Sandwich used to be (which sucked). So when I looked to see what my peeps on Yelp were saying about this place I bookmarked it cus the reviews are excellent from a cross section of people, including tourists staying at Aloft.
At the same time I prepared myself because high ratings raise my expectations impossibly high and sometimes I get disappointed.
Walking in immediately loved the aroma and the tidy look of the place, even the music playing over the speakers.
The server was really nice. I ordered the Mongolian beef lunch special which comes with your choice of soup (egg drop or hot n sour) and choice of rice (fried or white).
I also ordered beef drunken noodles. My sidekick ordered Mongolian chicken.
We also ordered the cream cheese puffs as an appetizer.
The temperture of the soup was not warm enough. It was good but temperature is important in restaurant hygiene so that was a little concerning. Also, the soup came to the table with crispies put in. Customarily, the crispies are brought on the side and the guest decides if and how much to put in their soup.
Overall I was happy with the taste of everything. For what they are, they are at the top of their game. This is definitely on my list of regular places for pan-Asian food. I will probably come on the weekend again to try something else.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1013711079Jul 31, 2018
I've been on the hunt for a good Pho restaurant close by our house and I'm thrilled that I have found it!! I've said it before and I'll say it again, options are the way to my heart because let's face it girls never know what they want to eat (I'm very guilty of this). This corner spot is serving up Pho, lo mien, traditional Chinese dishes, pad tai, drunken noodles, bubble tea. Basically every salty thing you could hope for..The beef pho hit the spot, very flavorful, big portions pretty much everything I needed at that moment. We also opted for chicken lo mien and some dumplings which were delicious. Service is fast and friendly, we'll definitely be back again!

I know this is called Pho 4 Star but I had to give it 5 stars lol
Walking in, I noticed I didn't smell that typical overpowering Vietnamese/Thai food restaurant smell when I first walked in. We were immediately greeted and seated and handed menus.
It wasn't long before our order was taken and our food was served.
*tip: the straws can be found in the utensil wrap with the fork*
I ordered the Veggie Phö with no mushrooms in beef broth. The phö was served with your traditional mint, sprouts, jalapeños, and lime on the side (something other phö spots don't always serve). I must say, this became my new favorite phö spot at first bite! Everything blended so well!
I didn't taste the Thai Tea but my husband said that was very good as well!
I did take a peak at the ladies room. It wasn't glamorous but it didn't scream "don't use me either". I've seen MUCH worse at the small restaurants. So three stars here!
I did appreciate the customer service. Again, we were greeted at the door. The server was attentive and polite from beginning until the end of our visit.
Overall, I enjoyed my visit and food and will definitely be back! Good job Phö 4 Star!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 61305960Oct 15, 2018
1 of rare restaurant open durant a sunday, food was ok look like the asian fast food. I had a pho and a bowl noodle with beef and shrimps. I had coconut bubble tea and a one with taro flavour. I made my checking with yelp and they had refused to honour the free spring roll. Restaurant was clean.

Probably some of the best pho in San Antonio. The broth is sweet and tastes of clove and star anise in addition to the rich beef broth flavor. The side vegetables were also fresh tasting and the noodles were delectably thin and tender. For the pho connoisseurs, the broth lacks body. Honestly though, you're not going to get perfect, full bodied pho outside Vietnam or one of the bigger Vietnamese communities. This stuff is pretty good considering the other Vietnamese restaurants in the area.
The boba was a little disappointing though. Super sugary and undercooked tapioca. I got the lychee flavor. Sure, it tastes like lychee, but I could literally feel gritty sugar granules in my mouth when I was drinking it.
Service is nice and speedy though.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Danyelle A.Fort Worth, TX53229311Mar 12, 2018
In from out of town, I tried this place on a lark. It was worth the risk!
Our waitress was friendly and helpful. She suggested a couple of items for the table.
The food was good and very reasonably priced. We all enjoyed the food and a couple of our diners licked the plate!
The interior is a bit run down. you can see they are not putting the money into keeping up appearances. Don't let that fool you. The food is good!
Parking didn't seem to be a problem. They share parking with several businesses and the hotel nearby.
I could see myself here often if I lived in town!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nick H.Manhattan, New York, NY370322790Mar 14, 2018
I'm a regular at this place, the service is solid, the food is a good value. A great introduction to pho.
Solid pho: the broth hits the sweet, beefy note right at the beginning. Nice mix of beef parts - the brisket is nicely chewy and the tendon is looked till it's very tender, almost shaved. The brisket is the best meat in my opinion and the beef balls are second. Sometimes when they don't have Thai basil, they'll give you cilantro which is not great but acceptable.
The avocado shake is alright. The shaking beef is good here as well as the Vietnamese fried spring rolls.
The servers are friendly and helpful as wellHelpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Carol W.San Antonio, TX35463Mar 18, 2020Updated review
Family owned. Consistent flavorful food. My original review gave only 3 stars because of cleanliness, but they really have improved things. I'm glad that I came back, because it really is a good place. Nice folks, also.

It is a timing issue. Yelp ads was to be removed from site. Waitress should have honor the ads until it is removed in Yelp. The ads is now removed. Bathroom storage rack has been reorganized to improve cleanliness. Tower on the floor was there to absorb multiple water spill incidents. Server has been informed to immediately remove tower after each incident. Thank you for your feedback.
Aug 16, 2018Previous reviewWell, to sum it up: pho was good, waitress was brusque, floor and bathrooms dirty, they did not honor the Yelp free egg roll after check in. I believe there is a reason why they got 75/100 on the health score.
