Worth all the  5-star reviews for being a REAL donut shop.  You can see new Greenpoint intersecting with old Greenpoint in the form of donuts and coffee.  The donuts I tried were totally worth the fat and calories (marble cruller, red velvet, blueberry jelly and an apple fritter - no i didn't eat one of each, but i was happy to sample).

I loved to see a counter where you could sit and enjoy a coffee and a donut, but on a Sunday morning, the place was more than a little tight.  Relaxing didn't really seem to be an option, but perhaps at other times?

Cash only as it should be.

Ugh the donuts are so cheap and good here that I was going out of my way just to make a stop here. The line each time usually stretches to the back of the place inside, but it flies pretty quickly.

Personal favorites are the honey dip, Bavarian cream, toasted coconut and chocolate. None of the donuts are obnoxiously fake or sweet. All have a nice thick bite but fluffy consistency to them. There seems to be a core of flavors, but I have noticed some rotation on different visits.

Go earlier so they don't run out of the more popular ones! A very old fashioned sorta place with $1.10 donuts that blow your generic ones outta the water.

We've been regulars for many years and they still provide the best donuts around.

Everything we have tried here has been delicious. We definitely like that they haven't remodeled the place or changed the way they are to "fit in".

If you are nearby, skip all the other pastry places and try them..its well worth it!

This my spot! One of my fav donut spots in NYC.  This place offers a variety of donuts.  A lot of popular donut spots are just making glazed donuts with different toppings but here you actually get a variety of authentic donuts made like cake donuts, glazed, eclairs, jelly, donut sticks and more.  Plus they offer unique flavors like red velvet or maple (2 of my fav flavors). Donuts are also priced right at around 1.10 per donut.  That's ten cents more than Dunkin and 10x better.

They also got some good hot it ice coffee. Milk shakes too.  This place has a dinner feel and offer hot breakfast items too.

The staff is friendly and helpful too which is not common comparing to the new hip coffee spots in the area.  This place has that old NY quality with some off the wall donuts.

    This my donut spot!

I dread when my coworker gifts the office with Peter Pan Donuts.

I'm lying, my arteries hate it... my taste buds love it. These are the best donuts I've ever had in my life! Absolutely delicious. The honey dipped are my favorites. Truly amazing!

Some of the best donuts I've had, and it doesn't hurt that they're only $1.10 each! (Though it does hurt a little that they're cash only)

The donuts were cheap and they looked delicious, so naturally we got 8 of them...
    - Cream + Chocolate sprinkles: topped with about of mountain of cream and a ton of sprinkles, this is definitely on the sweeter side.
    - Sour Cream: a denser cake donut, but moist thanks to the sour cream
    - Old Fashioned Cruller: before this, the only crullers I've had were from dunkin donuts. These are nothing like those, so be warned. It comes with a crumbled topping instead
    - Toasted Coconut: one of my favorites!
    - Red Velvet: this one came as a twisty log of a donut. They have the regular donut dough mixed with some red velvet
    - Apple Crumble: imagine the old fashioned Cruller, but now stuffed with an apple filling
    - French Toast: well, it definitely tasted like French toast!
    - Bavarian cream: a classic. Powdered donut filled with a lot of filling. Yum!

That being said, these donuts are great. I came in on a Wednesday night, and I was surprised to see that there was still a legs selection of donuts. Even better, the donuts were still soft and fluffy - no hint of staleness at all!

Service was good - they were friendly and efficient. Just like the inside of this place, it does its job. They've got a good amount of seating, and you can get some milk or coffee to go along with your donuts

    This place is old-school!
Not the pretend old-school a lot of hip restaurants are going for.. They are OLD effin' SCHOOL.

Peter Pan's Shop looks like they haven't changed anything since they opened in the 50s. Don't get me wrong, I dig it!

If you're expecting huge gourmet donuts, you might be a little disappointed at first. But rest assured, the donuts are bangin'!  First of all, they've got like 20 different flavors and the best part is that they're $1.10 each. Whaaaat?

Honestly, I don't even remember all the donuts we picked out. We got so many cause we were so excited. But I do remember my favorites.

-Sour Cream:  a dense glazed cake donut
-Red Velvet Log: cool marbling of the cake dough and red velvet that tasted great!
-Toasted Coconut:  beautifully toasted coconut that was coated all around the donut. Had a nice aroma and it tasted great! Dough was fluffy and soft and had me wanting 3 more of them! This was probably my favorite of them all.

They even serve pastries which I have yet to try but I'm sure they're promising as well.  Our cashier/donut-helper was very friendly and she was efficient being the only one working the front.

Peter Pan is a must-have if you're ever in Greenpoint! They run an old school shop with a huge variety of very reasonably priced treats. The staff is friendly and patient, especially when you're ordering and deciding on the spot which donut(s) you want.

I tried the bavarian cream, old fashioned, sour cream, maple, and blueberry buttermilk. All were phenomenal, although the maple and blueberry buttermilk were a little too sweet because of the glaze. My favorite was the sour cream -- you MUST try the sour cream donut!! It's the perfect amount of sweetness and the cake is moist and rich. The glaze on the outside ties the entire donut together and it's so simple yet so, so good. All their yeast donuts are so fluffy and soft and all their cake or old fashioned donuts are moist and decadent. The best part of all is that every donut is only $1.10 so honestly, why wouldn't you come here and try their donuts? I can't wait to come back again to try the other flavors.

You can't get more cliche than this but when I arrived for my first visit, there was a cop car outside the shop with a policeman inside ordering donuts and coffee. The interior is bleak, no real menu but the prices are posted clearly on a sheet of paper written in black sharpie. $1.10 per donut!
When I approached the register, the woman, who appeared to be the owner was extremely excited to assist when I told her it was my first visit. I always ask "As a first timer, what should I order?" She was bummed they were out of the cake donuts but I gave her my preferences and she made some EXCELLENT suggestions. The red velvet (one of the last remaining cake donuts) and maple donut was AMAZING!!! I was impressed upon first bite - especially the maple because it tasted like crispy waffle/pancakes drenched in maple syrup.

Came here searching for something comparable to the heavenly made malasadas (Portuguese donuts) from Leonard's Bakery (Honolulu, Hawaii). Although the Bavarian Cream donut ($1.10 cash only) is not pillow-soft as the malasadas, it was still very soft and delicious! The cream was not too sweet either. And you can't go wrong spending $1.1 on this donut!
Also, the cashier is very friendly and welcoming!

Located on Greenpoint's main shopping street, in an area commonly known as "Little Poland," Peter Pan Donut & Pastry Shop is a longtime staple of this historic Brooklyn neighborhood. The bakery first opened over sixty years ago, and the current owners have remained true to the place's original character and fixtures. They've even maintained a low price point for their donuts at just $1.10 each, a value that simply cannot be beat!

It is impossible to equate this neighborhood bakery with another top-tier shop, like Dough. For one, Dough primarily focuses on yeast donuts, while Peter Pan excels with the cake variety. As a result, theirs are denser and more filling, despite their smaller size. Plus, there's the obvious price difference - the donuts are considerably cheaper here, at an almost three to one rate. The two are just too dissimilar to compare in terms of taste, so it's better to consider them separately.

Out of the donuts I've tried so far, the blueberry buttermilk is my favorite. There's a reason everyone raves about them! The blueberry presence is very strong, and doesn't taste artificially sweet. It reminds me of a fresh blueberry muffin, but with glaze.

The apple crumb is pretty much a marriage between coffee cake and apple pie. With a streusel/crumb topping and apple danish-like filling, it's delicious, but extremely sweet. Somehow, I still managed to eat the entire thing in one sitting, but the abundance of sugar made it a challenge.

The chocolate coconut is good, but nothing special. It has a generous amount of coconut, but otherwise tastes like a typical chocolate cake donut. Finally, there's the red velvet, which, despite its name, doesn't have a particularly dominant red velvet flavor. Similar to the apple crumb, it's very sweet, but the texture and taste resemble that of a plain, glazed cake donut, rather than a typical red velvet dessert.

The blueberry buttermilk donuts are enough to warrant a trip to this place, and the perpetual line of hungry customers is testament to the quality of their pastries. It's no secret that Peter Pan is an integral part of Greenpoint's history and culture, a small bakery in a big city that will undoubtedly stick around for years to come.

This might sound like an exaggeration, but Peter Pan may be my favorite source for treats in all of Brooklyn. Maybe even all of New York! Whenever someone's visiting and they ask where they should hit up I always tell them that they won't regret a stop at Peter Pan.

Tons of doughnut varieties, quick and friendly service, old school charm, great prices... this is the kind of place dreams are made of! I'm an equal opportunity doughnut lover, so I'm all for the somewhat recent crop of trendy gourmet doughnuts that have popped up. But honestly nothing beats a classic old-school doughnut from a place that's been around forever.

The blueberry buttermilk is sweet, soft, and amazing, and the apple fritter I tasted was HUGE and packed with apple pieces. Probably too much for one person to eat in one sitting (unless you're fine with a stomach ache afterward), but perfect to share.

It's such a pleasure to get a doughnut and a traditional NY deli style coffee (nothing fancy here) while hanging at the counter when it's not too crowded. Keep in mind that everyone loves Peter Pan as much as I do, so you're better off showing up at off-peak hours (so maybe not late morning on a weekend) to get the full selection and some space to sit.

Cash only places rarely get give stars in my book, but everything here is so cheap you can easily be satisfied with the change you find at the bottom of your purse. Seriously, $1.10 for a fresh, perfectly made doughnut - best deal in town in my opinion!

This place is my idea of heaven. You need this in your life. Go!

I love Peter Pan Donuts so much. They are old school, simple looking and delicious, particularly the sour cream cake, old fashioned and honey dipped yeasted donuts. They're dirt cheap - I often buy five or six at a time for less than 5 bucks. You can't beat it. My one complaint is that they often run completely out of donuts on the weekends. I came by on Sunday afternoon following a long bike ride and was really looking forward to having a doughnut, but they only had sad looking muffins and pastries left over that I had no interest in. They still had several hours left before they closed, so I'm not sure what they did for the rest of the shift. Maybe make more doughnuts for the weekends...a lot more! I could really use one right now even though I'm in bed and it's after midnight.

Keep your fancy donuts from Dough, Doughnut Plant, or whatever new spot just got written up in Gothamist for having a bloody mary inspired donut.

Peter pan does the classics to perfection - and for the most part, they cost lest than $2 each.

I keep on trying their more intricate looking donuts, and while they're awesome - they're still not better than the glazed cake donuts!

After going to 5 other top donut places in NYC on the same day, you would think I'd be sick of donuts by #6. Well I kinda was, but then I walked into Peter Pan and it was like walking into a time portal. A lot more counter seating than I imagined and the donuts despite it being around 5p were still fresh!

The selection wasn't large but all the options were unique as well as traditional offerings. I went for a Cannoli pastry and my girlfriend got the Apricot Tart. Not donuts, but still pastries. They were amazing! Wow I can't believe it, but this might have been my favorite treat of the day.

The place wasn't that clean, but it certainly had its charm. I'd like to stop by again sometime soon!

On my quest to find the best donuts in NYC, I saw Peter Pan pop up in the conversation numerous times. Unlike the other donuts I tried in NYC, Peter Pan serves up some classic, old school donuts. I prefer old school donuts so I expected Peter Pan's donuts to be at the top of my list, but that wasn't the case. The donuts are good, but they are nothing special. I've had better classic donuts so they get a 3-star, A-OK rating from me. I'd much rather pay an extra few dollars for a donut from Dough.

This spot has been around for quite some time. The interior is designed like a 1950's shop compete with the signage and pricing.

When you walk in the immediate area to your left is the take out line only. Next to that is the old style seating and countertop. The signage not only has the low prices of a forgotten era in American history but the font is old fashioned as well.

There are racks of donuts near the take out area and behind the register. To go with your donut they offer coffee, milkshakes and old fashioned egg creams to bake a few ( the latter I really find only at diners nowadays ).

I has to wait for a spot on the counter but that is something I of course expect. I had heard about this place recently and likes the vibe I THOUUGHT was advertised. I thought wrong.

Even though their prices and certain products remain unchanged they do offer a seasonal treat I wanted to try out: the doughnut ice cream sandwich. To wash it down I ordered a vanilla egg cream.

The feeling I got regarding service was quite the opposite of what I expected. The employees seem like they are in a rush and I do respect the type of work they do. I get a spot by the fridge and I am almost immediately approached for my order. The lady was very to the point and emotionless. I know I saw a tiramisu label on the ice cream display but it could have been empty. So I asked for a doughnut ice cream sandwich and the egg cream. She informed me that there was no such flavor available and listed others. So I picked another flavor and a doughnut. She leaves to make the order and comes back with everything. Then she asks if I wanted anything else. It was a hot day in Brooklyn so I prepaid for a bottled drink for when I leave.

There are some signs around that ask you to pay as soon as you order. They take this rule very seriously there. The moment I paid and got my change was the last instance of customer service I received in the time I stayed. Everything was pretty good as the ice cream sandwich was something I wanted to try.

At one point I needed to use the rest room. I saw people going into the back area and asked the person in the kitchen. Maybe i should have made it clear I was refunding momentarily. But after I got back the spot where I was sitting was cleaned off. The egg cream was only half drank ( it was a somewhat large cup ) and it was lucky I ate the ice cream sandwich up lest it end up in the trash.

At that point I was ready to leave anyway. I was planning to leave a tip but my server was chit chatting with another coworker who had just clocked in. To be nice I approached her and gave her a generous tip ( compared with with I paid for everything ) and she barely looked at me. The other employee had to pint out I was trying to give a tip and she said thank you and continued her chit chat.

That spot if good for when you want to order and be left alone. No doubt a lot of locals come in and people visit from far for the doughnut bargains. They offer sandwiches as well and is a good spot to bring a friend to catch up.

Definitely come visit Peter Pan often for the treats. Just do not expect the best service.

After months of drooling over photos, I finally made the trip all the way to Brooklyn to try Peter Pan's! Old school donuts made fresh daily for only $1.10 each!!! When I got there, a lot of different flavors were sold out. What was left were mainly the timeless flavors, like the Bavarian Cream and Red Velvet Cruller(both of which I got).

Bavarian Cream Donut reminded me of the Boston Cream Donut from Dunkin Donuts. However, they are both two completely different donuts, in regards to flavor and appearance; on the other hand, the textures and consistency of the creams were quite similar. There's this generous layer of powdered sugar on top of the Bavarian Cream Donut, so if you're a messy eater like me, you'll look as if you just sniffed cocaine. #justsaying. I'm already CRACKing up. Why do I make such stupid analogies(smh).

Thanks to Peter Pan, I discovered a new type of donut called a Cruller. It's basically a donut that's shaped like a braid. Cool, right? Totally. Red Velvet Cruller is sugary goodness, drenched in a sugary, mouth-watering glaze. The texture resembles that of what would be the lovechild of  a cake and a bread. Would also go well with a cup of coffee.

Ultimately, Peter Pan is the ultimate spot for anyone who needs to satisfy their sweet tooth. This is where donut fanatics in the making should start out. In addition, Peter Pan and I are both related, so stop by to relive your sweet childhood donut dreams! ;)

    3.75 stars.

I finally made it to this popular bakery, which is beyond my transportation reach. Unfortunately, at 5:30pm on a Saturday there wasn't much left, and the famous red velvet donuts were gone.

    Sour cream: good, kinda crunchy.

    Bavarian cream: soft and tasty.

They weren't the best donuts I'd ever had, but for what you get, their prices are ridiculously low.
