My husband and I went to Outback a lot when we first started dating in college. It was somewhere that felt a bit nicer for "date night" that we could afford. I always had good memories of the food, but for whatever reason hadn't been back in a long while. Perhaps because I knew I would devour a Blooming Onion, which isn't the healthiest thing in the world. Well, recently my husband and I were discussing if Outback date night would hold up today. So we went for an early Thursday night dinner (as I had rehearsal later on) to check it out. That make have been the fastest multi course meal of my life. Maybe a little too quick. I'm not sure I had time to register all I had eaten. No joke we arrived about 6pm and were out by like 6:45pm. No question on attentive and quick service. It was a well oiled machine.
To start, you still get the brown bread loaf with butter. It was warm and soft just like I remembered. Of course we got a Blooming Onion. I dunno how people come here and don't. It's just so good. I mean fried onions and a delicious dipping sauce. I love how the onion part is still kinda soft but the batter is so crispy. And the sauce, tangy and creamy. You could get full just eating this. We made a promise to box up half, which we stuck to. We have matured!
I wanted to get previous usual-the Outback Special. This comes with a sirloin (you choose 6, 9, or 12 Oz), potato of choice, and one other side. I was pleasantly surprised at the cost. While it had gone up (think it used to be like $10 for a 6oz), it was still pretty reasonable (about $16). I picked a Caesar salad as my second side. I recalled how much I used to like their Caesar. This has definitely changed. They used to have homemade croutons which I assume was from the brown loaf bread. Their dressing used to taste homemade too. Both now for sure are commercially made items. Nothing wrong with the salad, but it for sure lost its specialness. I ordered my steak Medium and it was cooked perfectly. I'll be honest I feared it would be over, but it wasn't. My husbands was also as desired. Yes, 6oz is small, but it was the perfect amount with everything else I had to eat already. The baked potato came out nice and hot. I love how the skin of their baked potatoes are like pre salted. Makes it delicious even plain. But of course I added butter.

My husband and I decided to eat Outback on a Wednesday evening about 5pm. There was no wait to be seated so that was a plus. Our server was John and he was friendly enough. My husband ordered the 8oz sirloin and ribs combo with mashed potatoes and fries. He never received his fries. John was very accommodating, he gave my husband a baked potato to go in his togo box. Oh, my husband's napkin, silverware packet had a hair in it.
I ordered the 6oz filet, Mac & cheese and a baked sweet potato. My steak was delicious, I'm not sure what they put on it but it had a kick to it. I do like their Mac & cheese although I am a Mac & cheese snob and it wouldn't fly in my house however, it was not hot, only warm. I also had the bartender make me a warm drink as I'm getting over a cold and it was a little chilly in there. She made a mixture with kahlua, gingerbread syrup and coffee. Not sure what else was in it but it was delicious.
We don't typically eat Outback very often. Maybe once a year or so. I'm not going to say we will never eat here again but definitely not for a while.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Business owner information

This was my Valentine date night with my husband it was beautiful, it was kinda a pack but it was a wait time was less than 5 min. I order ribeye.steak with load mashed potatoes that was my first time getting my mashed loaded but was delicious. I had broccoli. OMG the food was hot and good. I ate everything on my plate. Service was alright the waitress just acting kind of forgetful at times but overall she was alright. So the Next Valentine day go to OUTback or go anytime let me know what you Order.This was the one wendover.

Had a large catering order, and it was a complete disaster, order was late, missing items, leaking dishes and sauce everywhere, missing plates utensils to get food out of containers, manager Sam was not willing to make things right or correct the errors or even offer an apology. She was also not willing to bring any of the missing items back. Don't do business with them. They are completely unprofessional and lack the customer service needed when catering $1,700 orders. BEWARE!

This Battleground area location has the older (2019 ish) remodel instead of the newer 2022 ish which I prefer as it isn't as cramped feeling inside. This location doesn't have quite as good service as the other Greensboro location but I've never had too much trouble in general.
The food lives up to what you expect from an Outback in general, very tasty midrange steak, burgers, chicken, and some shrimp dishes. I think Outback has one of the better burgers for a chain restaurant and it stacks up fine alongside the very many burger joints in Greensboro.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jan 18, 2024
What can I say?!? We just started a new health and wellness journey and wanted to find fresh food that fit our needs. This location was highly accommodating tonight! Anaiya was attentive and made several suggestions about the menu. We ate steaks with fresh veggies. Steaks cooked to specification's. Added bonus, the owner came by to check on our experience. It was refreshing to get such great customer service.

I had been wanting the Blooming Onion for days and my son treated me to one. Well, it was well over cooked. I didn't send it back. I picked over it, ate what I could. Bad experiences and paranoia keeps me from doing that. My steak, chicken, veggies & soup were perfect.

This is going to be my longest, sweetest, most meaningful review I've shared anywhere! I blog quite a bit but this one warms my heart! We dine here regularly and the food is always great but the new management is on another level. My son chose to dine here for his 12th birthday party and everything was perfect! The table and location were desirable. They kept the cake in the back for us while we dined and the amazing manager Nick made sure we were pleased with everything and personally prepared what my son referred to as "the best dessert ever!" If you have gone here before and haven't been back in a while, go today! I can guarantee you that if Nick is working, your experience will be pleasurable. Our waiter, Dominic (Dom) was also amazing!! 5 Stars +
Back Story:
Many years ago, When Nick was working in curbside/takeout, I had a car issue! Nick was amazing then. He was so helpful, going way beyond anything I could have even expected and when I was finally on my way, I told my young son (also named Nick), "He will be so blessed! Had the BEST lunch today at the Westover Terrace location. I ordered the 12 oz Ribeye with veggies and a baked potato. My son ordered the Prime Rib with loaded mashed potatoes. They were very short staffed as so many restaurants are in the area. The waitress was extremely sweet and apologized for the wait which actually was much faster than we expected. We had a wonderful experience all around! I was also impressed that management was only seating on one side of the dining area. If you have ever been a server you would completely understand. If you are understaffed, it keeps your servers from running all over the restaurant which results in more errors being made and exhausted waiters/waitresses. Great planning and will def return in the near future!

I just finished a ribeye steak from Outback. It was delivered by DoorDash and was the worst steak I have ever tried to eat. It was fatty and full of gristle. I was unable to eat over half. If I had eaten in I would have refused to pay for it. Because I used DoorDash I am stuck.
