I'm very glad we found OSL Preschool & Infant care. Before my daughter was born we toured many LB area daycares, including some that cost 50% more than OSL. None of them felt nearly as safe nor as well focused on child development.

Safety starts at the front door. The door only opens with a code, and for anyone without a code the door has a camera and intercom. They're not just letting anyone in either; I've seen caregivers stop what they're doing and walk to the front door to vet a potential unknown person.

My daughter started activities and art & crafts when she was 5 or 6 months old. Those activities have continued to get more complex. As she grows she will learn more and more here. You can tell that there is a plan for these children; this is not just a 'daycare' it is a *school.* Every month a newsletter goes out with activities, letters and colors and new things she will be learning.

Every caregiver here knows my daughter's name, not just those responsible for her care. They greet her personally when they see her in the halls with me.  She is so joyful about coming here that I feel confident she's in the right place.

Caregivers are impressive. They are constantly aware of their ratio of kids to adults, calling it out among each other as kids are dropped off and adjusting to make sure they have enough adults. I like to mention that I wish my daughter was as good an eater and as well behaved at home as she is here; these ladies have some kind of magic way with kids!

    Very disappointing.

My husband and I visited Our Saviour's Lutheran Preschool when I was 5 months pregnant. We knew finding full-time infant care would be challenging so we decided to get a head start. The hours of this facility really catered to our needs, which is hard to find when you're working 60+ hours a week.

Our initial visit went well, we toured during nap time and the infants seemed happy while we were there. We decided to get on the waiting list, but told ourselves we would still look around. We were told by the director that she would call at the beginning of every month when she would go through and update the waiting list. It is now 6 months later, we received 1 phone call, which happened to be on the day I gave birth,  asking if we were still interested. We said yes, and let them know we would be in contact within a week or two when we got the little one home....my son is now 2 months old, both my husband and I have each made roughly 5-6 phone calls to the facility. Each time, we are told they cannot answer our question about the wait list and that they would call us back shortly..... We have yet to receive a call.

Overall, this has been the most frustrating experience! We thought we were ahead of schedule by getting on this wait list just to find out the business is poorly ran and lacks any real management capabilities.

Foremost: access.  They open early and close late, compared to most other places.  6:15am-6:00pm Mon-Fri.  Also, I had to return to work when my kid was 6 weeks old, and this is one of the few places that will take infants as young as 6 weeks.  Hope you are not in that boat, but if you are, this is the place for you.  The cost is also very reasonable.

He's 2 1/2 now and still goes there.  Of course there are little things that come up, but they are communicative and try to be flexible and work with you for just about anything you ask that is reasonable.  The teachers are great.  They seem to really like  the kids, and there is very little turnover, which says a lot.  I have a weird work schedule so I pop in at unexpected times to drop off/pick up my kid, and they are always engrossed in some sort of play, if not napping.  We aren't religious although it's a church daycare, but they aren't too heavy-handed with the religious stuff, if that is a concern.

I've recommended this place to many people.  We started off at a corporate daycare in downtown LB for a trial day, but they ended up feeding my kid someone else's breastmilk for half the day, so we said ehhh, no thanks, and glad we switched to here!

Finding a suitable, trustworthy daycare is a daunting task for working parents.   When I was pregnant with my first child, this was probably the "to do" that I agonized over the most.  It was of utmost importance to me to find the perfect balance of quality care and affordability.

I visited and interviewed over 15 different daycares in the Long Beach area and finally settled on OSLP and I'm so happy with my choice.

It is very evident that the teachers love the children there and are heavily invested in their progress and growth.  They are responsive to the needs of the children and highly communicative with parents.

I highly recommend this preschool and have in fact, sent several parents there with their kids!

What can I say about this great school? It's probably the best decision we've ever made! Here is why:

    1) The teachers rock! Your kid is not just a number. All teachers know all the kids and their parents. The teachers are attentive to each kids. They genuinely love them, and it shows!

    2) It's pretty expansive and has plenty of room to play and explore.

    3) Activities. Lots of things to keep the kids stimulated.
They really are great at making their kids have a blast.
My child gets upset when she doesn't get to go on weekends.

    4) They take great care of my kid's need. They understand her delays and they have done so much to get her up to speed.

    5) They just genuinely love my kid. Thanks to the wonderful leadership of the school,  it's A+ in my eyes!

My son (5) and daughter (3) both attend this great school! They are 1/2 days, 3 days a week for a little over a year. The teachers are great, and my kids are always in the best mood when I pick them up. They have lots of activities, always keeping it exciting and invite the parents to a lot of the functions. They have petting zoos visit, 4th of July parades, Valentines parties, Gymnastics, music classes. It's great!

My  son attends this amazing school.  The teachers are all welcoming, gentle, but stern when need be.  They have many activities in which all will enjoy.  The school has a schedule for the older children, but for infants they don't set a schedule unless a parent wants them too. A big plus for me.  They also involve parents.  My child loves to go see his friends and the amount he learns blows my mind.  I now know why there was a huge wait list. This school rocks.
