Surprisingly, my maiden voyage to the Orpheum just happened last night. There have been lots of shows there that I've been interested in attending, but the Southern Soul Assembly gig was the first time I experienced anything at this wonderful theater.
Some things I liked about it:
- Size -- it's pretty small, which makes for an intimate show
- Sound -- from my seats at the back of the orchestra, the sound was great
- Location -- Downtown but not impossible to get to
- Parking -- Granted, my show was on a Sunday night, but it was easy to find a spot on the street for free
- Talent -- They seem to book lots of great stuff there. In fact, I'll be back next week!
- Design -- The building has been restored beautifully and is in great shape
I really enjoyed my first experience at the Orpheum last night and I am already looking forward to being back for Ryan Adams in 8 days. It will be a bit different since the floor will be general admission, but I think I'll be able to see well since the floor has a nice slope to it and it's not that big. Even being at the back will make for a good view.Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Apr 7, 2023
I went to The Orpheum with some friends to see The Nutcracker. It was my first time here, and it's cute but a tad small overall. The lobby and general waiting areas were cramped as we were navigating to our seats. We sat at the front of the balcony seating and the view was amazing. I can't imaging there being a bad seat anywhere in the theater. I've been to several older theaters, so figured the seats would be tight as well. I'm 5'10 and was extremely uncomfortable throughout the entire show. The show started about 15 minutes late, which was irritating because that meant I had to sit in the tight seat for an extra 15 minutes. Also worth noting, you have to get up and step in the aisle if people need to cross you to get to their seats. A couple was late for the show and half the row had to step into the aisle for them to get through.

We visited to listen to the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra practice. They played beautifully. Sound came be heard clearly from near front row seats, in the mezzanine, and near the top.
If you see a show here, you'll enjoy it!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Eve B.New Orleans, LA4482851262Mar 7, 2023
The Orpheum Theater is just breathtaking! We LOVED every moment of Four Seasons and the theater itself is out of this world beautiful! Seats in the balconies and logia are a tad tight so be prepared to squeeze in. Seats on the orchestra level are movable and I've heard they are moved sometime to accommodate dancing?? I'd LOVE to go to a concert that allows and or encourages dancing there! No food but drinks are available, no cash. I parked easily at a meter spot right around the corner and didn't have to pay parking bc it was after 6. There are also plenty of garages nearby if you'd prefer that route. Highly recommend you check out the shows at the Orpheum, you will not be disappointed.

The Nutcracker was so good I loved it. The dancers were very skilled and amazing. It smelled so nice in the theater too.

Saw one of the greatest concerts of my life here in Khrungabin. This venue outside of the Saenger is the best venue to see a concert in the city. The acoustics are perfect and the lighting that came with the show fit the venue perfectly. I will remember this night for a long time.

It's a beautiful theatre, in a busy part of town. I was there to see the Andrew Shultz comedy show. Parked next door, but that's a different review!
The Orpheum is older, kind of dated. Nice marble stairs. I didn't see an elevator. The staff was good, nice, friendly. I had cheap seats, so ... upstairs and all the way back. I could see the stage, but no facial expressions, and there were times I couldn't hear what was being said on stage.
The seats are kind of small and my knees could not comfortably fit without cramming the seat in front of me. I'm not super tall so, it's a consideration.

It's been a minute since most people have gone to the theater and while in New Orleans, my bf and I decided we'd check out the Louisiana Philharmonic on their opening night at the Orpheum. Our tickets were the "cheap" seats in the balcony but we had a central view and the acoustics were good. They checked our vaccination status on the way in and encouraged everyone to wear a mask. The masking was not strictly enforced, unfortunately. I did find that they had women's restrooms on every floor, which was nice but getting to the bar on the first floor was a pain. We did find a bar on the second floor. the drinks were expensive and they didn't sell any food. The other LA Phil as I'd like to call them, was great. They did not get rid of any musicians during the pandemic and were happy to play again in a theater with a live audience. It's a wonderful thing to support the arts, even when one is traveling. This theater experience was a lovely one.
