    • Q:

How long is the wait usually during the weekend (7-8pm)?

      A:

30-45 mins. But as croweded as it is on the weekend, the crowd quickly goes down around 9ish. You can always grab a seat at the bar if open as well. Have fun!

I don't know why, but I keep getting this place confused with Bobcat Bonnie's! Don't be like me, the two are drastically different from one another and I can't explain what's going on in my brain about it!

One-Eyed Betty's is not located directly on 9 mile the way Bobcat Bonnie's is in downtown Ferndale. It's one block south of it on Troy Street and is its own standalone restaurant with a parking lot right there. The parking lot is often full on those busy evenings and weekends, so you will probably have to anticipate parking in one of the many other parking lots Ferndale has to offer or street parking, but there's plenty of both all around here!

The interior of One-Eyed Betty's feels so grand and casual at the same time. Gorgeous floor to ceiling murals, a very impressive bar display, and just an overall big space! They have happy hour - even on Fridays - and just a whole roster of delicious items on the menu!

Our server was BEYOND patient with us! We came in with a huge party of 10 that then rotated a bit. 3 people left, 6 more people came in, so we ultimately expanded to a party of 13 and some seats were switched as well. I honestly felt so bad because we were truly being THOSE kind of people with separate checks and everything as well, but I never got anything but absolutely kind, pleasant, and accommodating vibes from our waiter and I really, sincerely appreciated that!

The food was all so good! I got the Looney Shrooms as an appetizer and the fish tacos for my main and it was SO delicious - just the cilantro lime rice on the side of the tacos was wildly bland and barely tasted like anything! We shared a lot of apps as well and there wasn't a single thing I didn't enjoy!

One-Eyed Betty's is incredible! They are capable of accommodating large parties (clearly) and without reservations as well. I came a bit early - 5:45 pm on a Friday evening and was able to snag one of the two big tables in the back that they have for large parties, so that was super helpful! They apply an automatic 20% gratuity onto bills in a party 8 or larger, which our waiter made sure to point out every time one of us was checking out and was very adamant that we didn't need to tip any more on top of that. I still did anyways because I appreciated him so so much!! I will definitely be back soon! Thanks One-Eyed Betty's!!

Stopped into One-Eyed Betty's last weekend for lunch. It was Saturday, so we should have expected it to be busy- it was popping off! We were lucky to snag a couple seats at the bar. Our server greeted us quickly and got our drinks going. The restaurant has a great vibe and lots of interesting art to look at. The plant wall is awesome!
We decided to share the poutine, Brussels sprouts with goat cheese and the wings. We loved the sauce on the wings. Spicy with kind of an Asian flair. Loved it. The Brussels also had great flavor, but we wished they were a little crisper. The poutine had duck and an egg on top. Our only wish would be for the fries to be in the fryer maybe a couple more minutes.

Can I also mention that your second mimosa is only $3?? What!? Good spot for brunch for sure!

      1 check-in

We had a group of 7 for brunch on a Sunday, so we expected a bit of a wait. We ended up waiting maybe 45 minutes, which really wasn't bad. It was crowded, it was loud. Not a whole lot of waiting room. It felt like we were encroaching on the poor people who were sitting at the very end of the bar, but there wasn't really anywhere else to go.

Service was very friendly and they did a fantastic job managing our group.

It seemed like we got our food very quickly after ordering, which was both a good and bad thing. It was great that we didn't have to wait too long, but at the same time it seemed like they were very much rushing to push food out of the kitchen. My Cuban sandwich was so hastily put together half of the "guts" of the sandwich weren't even inside of the hoagie. The fries were disgusting - the soggiest, saddest excuse for fries I've seen just about anywhere. Most of them felt like they weren't even cooked. Ate the sandwich and the pickle, left the fries. It was okay. I wouldn't order it again, nor would I recommend it. The other options that my group ordered looked so much better than this sad sandwich and fries.

Throughout our meal we were constantly interrupted by servers bringing us food that wasn't ours, and then promptly returning back to the kitchen with it. Not sure what that was all about. Everyone working there was great, but it felt rather chaotic.

I've always been a fan of this place for drinks, but I will not go out of my way to come back here for food any time soon.

      Delicious lunch!
Impressive drinks. My espresso martini was one of the best cocktails I've ever had! My mom also loved her old fashioned.

I was impressed with the food. The French fries were seasoned very well and addictive. My portabella sandwich was topped with cheese and fantastic! Very satisfying. My mom had the BLT wedge salad and she was very happy. Another friend enjoyed his turkey Reuben. Another friend had a tofu kimchi sandwich and that looked fantastic too. The burgers looked great too. The French onion soup was divine! And the donuts!!!!!!! Wow!! Their homemade donuts are a must. Comes with sides of chocolate sauce and raspberry sauce.

It's a nice menu. I feel like everyone can find something to eat here. I can see why this place is so busy. My group came on Sunday at 2pm. Brunch was just ending so we enjoyed the lunch menu. I would love to return to and try brunch, as that menu looked delicious too.

Very spacious inside! Plenty of seating. They don't take reservations but they were able to seat my party of 6 right away. They have very large booths in the back.

A lot of lovely real plants and greenery. My friend was commenting how impressive it was that there was not a speck of dust on the plants. Very true. The restaurant was very clean, from top to bottom.

They have an outdoor patio too. A lot of easy parking nearby. There are paid parking lots on both sides of the restaurant, and a garage just down the street. Parking is feee on Sunday.

The artwork is very cool. There is a huge mosaic piece in the main room with wine bottles and I love it, Cool ambiance. Fun vibe. There are video games in the lobby. Full bar.

I'm really glad my friend picked this place for lunch. Everyone in my group was impressed.

Service was great and so was the beer! The restaurant is a great place to meet up with friends. It was packed but not so crowded that it was overly loud.

Food was just ehhh which is kinda disappointing. I'll eat any fries but these were just kinda soggy and moist. The concept for the food items was there (really yum sounding ideas) but definitely the execution was just not right. For a $17 sammy I was hoping it would be really good but the kimchi tofu was just very boring.

10/10 for environment drinks and service, 5/10 for food quality. Will come back but probably just for drinks!

      Welp,

Me and the wife went to this establishment and got seated right away. It was busy as we hoped for on a Saturday. Our server was fairly attentive and pleasant. We went in knowing we were going to get several items and we did. Here's my opinion on all that I had and what Wifey said about hers:

Wings- Why do you only give people 3 wings? That was odd and yes they were whole wings, but still, I have never seen a three piece. I hate to say it, they looked over cooked and tasted OLD! Not a good batch at all!

Thai Peanut Salad- nice spice and decent flavor, but it was all muddled and not visually appealing. The dressing is spicer than I expected. Can't say it was worth the money.

Fish and Chips- it was all about the visuals for me at One Eyed Betty. The fish's looked over cooked and the fries were cold and soggy. The minute I told the young lady she was super helpful in getting me a new batch. Too bad, because I was really looking forward to this meal. I had seen others pictures of the fish and chips and it looked so good I had to get it. When it came out burnt and I told my waitress and she said, "No that's how we cook it here", I'm in my head- go check the pictures around the internets.... I was so bummed at this point, I was simply deflated and ready to go.

The Wife got- The Taco Salad- no salsa, no a sour cream and mid on flavor. The presentation was extremely lack, shoot I could have thrown this together.... Especially for the price. Her words, not mine.

The ultimate question: would I come back? No- bad food and a hunned dolla bill, all while having drove an hour to eat here. Not to mention there are dozens of other places in the area to try next. Welp One Eyed Betty, thanks for helping me to learn to lower my expectations!

Yay! Glad that the portabella burger is still as delicious as I remember! Fun place we came with a large group and all was good. My friend had the Vaca Tacos which he said was "too much meat" lol! Overall, fun place and good food.

I used to come here a lot when I lived closer, and for a long time it was my go-to spot when I was in the area. But on my most recent visit my credit card was overcharged. I contacted the restaurant via phone, email, and website contact form. But no one ever got back to me, so I had to submit a dispute through my credit card company. It wasn't a large amount, but the experience left a sour taste, and I haven't been back since (nearly 2 years later). Which is a shame, because they have an awesome beer selection and I love their burgers and portobello sandwich.

The restaurant has a great atmosphere with convenient parking. Unfortunately the food was not up to par. The one item that is not pictured in the whitefish dip which was not good. The texture and taste was off. The spinach artichoke dip was so/so, it was lacking creaminess. The stuff mushrooms were awful. The French onion soap was bland. Drinks were great. Service time was average. I'll probably never go back for the food.

Food here was really good bar food. The cheesesteak and French dip were both great. The wings were solid - sauce was good but came as whole wings. Pork belly poutine was decent. Also a very good beer selection with rotating taps. I had the wolverine lager which was a solid basic beer. Atmosphere is fun if you're in the main area.
