4/25/2022My fiancé and I stopped in on a weekday night for a date night. Okoze came recommended by our neighbors so we knew we would be in good hands!
We had some gyoza and wakame salad to start, and ordered two rolls. The California Snow Crab roll was an easy choice for me - real crab meat, avocado, and tobiko? Yes, please! My fiancé opted for the Double Hama roll, which anyone who appreciates yellowtail will find doubly tasty. As a special treat, we also ordered uni nigiri, which was my favorite of the night.
This is a cute little neighborhood spot with high-quality fish and great, friendly service. We can't wait to go back! - 247124449

That being said, the hardworking staff was really trying to work efficiently while clearly being little understaffed, and were very polite nevertheless. On to food! The sushi, though small- was very fresh, uniquely paired w flavors and toppings - and was reminiscent of what one would have in Japan. Meaning it was GOOD.. for the more adventurous eaters- like myself- try the appetizer section of menu- monk fish being a real treat! Loved the tangy juice that it came with. I don't think there's a roll or dish you can go wrong w here to be frank.
Ambiance: great for a date, business dinner or solo meal. There's ample seating at the sushi bar, floor and window area. My husband and I walked in at 7:45pm without a reservation and were seated. Beautifully located in Russian hill area of sf, plenty of nice areas to stroll around in after. Enjoy - 1905983
3/7/2022A cute and small, yet super tasty spot! We ordered sashimi and I got a rainbow roll to try more fish, and it was all fresh and tasted so good.
Initially, when I first tried the sashimi, I expected it to be a little softer and have a more "melt on your tongue" texture, but after adding soy sauce, it really helped elevate the taste.
One thing I did want to mention was that we had reserved a table well in advance but we still had to wait around 30 min before we were seated despite the restaurant not being too busy. Because of the size, be prepared to wait a little, reservation or not if you are going at busy hours. - Alexandra G.Chester, NJ831119
3/4/2022Amazing fish!!!
We started with sashimi which was cut in thick pieces. Didn't quite melt in mouth with first piece but with soy sauce it was absolutely perfect.
The roll was the star of the show. Kira Kira has salmon, avocado, hotate (scallops), tobiko, and unagi sauce. Salmon was again cut in thick pieces and the hotate was so so smooth. Unagi sauce is sweet. Everything absolutely melted. Can easily say this was the best roll I've had and I will absolutely be coming back. - Patrizia M.San Francisco, CA07
5/1/2022While the quality of food has been generally consistent and good, we had the worst service last night and a similar situation had happened a few weeks ago. We booked a table for 7.45 pm and when we realized we were going to be a few mins late, we rang to alert them
We got to the restaurant and noone came to talk to us so we stood at the entrance for 15 mins while they completely ignored us - after multiple attempts of engaging with staff we were eventually seated 45 mins later, they tried to blame us that the table was not available because we were late (we had alerted them about the few mins delay) - and they hardly apologized
Avoid it on Fridays and Saturdays!

5/7/2022Charming neighborhood spot for deliciously fresh sushi and other yummy Japanese food. In Russian Hill, not my neighborhood but so worth a trip across the city for a lovely special occasion date night. We enjoyed the wakame salad, edamame, hamachi kama, tempura scallops, spicy tuna maki, ninja & particle rolls, a few pieces of kani & shiro maguro with plenty of sake. Timing, presentation and flavors were all balanced to perfection even for sushi snobs like us. They use fresh ginger & wasabi that is a nice compliment to their seafood. I would definitely recommend them. They seem to do ample to go business as well, so that's an option if you don't feel like dining in. Otherwise enjoy their low key chic Japanese decor. I hope to come back to try their grilled dishes (& more sushi of course) arigato!

3/7/2022Love having this spot in the neighborhood - everything is always on point. We always get the hamachi kama which is amazing (sometimes they sell out because it's so good!). Be prepared to wait for your food (they get busy) but it's always worth it.

4/2/2022Ate here last night got major food poisoning. Was one of the last person to finish eating. Spent $141 to get very sick to the stomache, vomiting, body aches, fevet, terrible experience. I knew something was up when it took longer than usual (waited like 30 min) to bring out my last two rolls.

7/7/2021Excellent quality. Fairly large menu that is sure to please everyone. Too bad we were only with 2 ppl or we could have ordered more to try. Bathroom and restaurant were clean. Service was super friendly but they were short staffed so it took a long time to order, to get the food, to get the check, to pay the check, but the girl was super apologetic and nice, and we had no where special to go so we didn't mind it taking so long.

10/7/2021Delicious sushi in the heart of Russian Hill. If you aren't looking to sit outdoors, keep looking because Okoze only offers indoor seating at this time. This last visit we tried the edamame, vegetable gyoza, Toto tar tar with Chopped Toro, Nori, Shiso Leaves and a Ponzu Sauce (highly recommend) and several rolls. Okoze's special maki rolls are on the pricier side, but really delcious. They also give you the option to order rolls with soy paper or nori. And because we stopped in on our way home from picking up a case of natural wine from Rock Juice Wine Club (check 'em out, tell the Noa sent you), we brought our own bottle of wine and I believe the corkage fee was $25.
