Falling twice, breaking first the tibia and then the femur has been an experience I wish on no one. After the second break 9 weeks after the first the plan was to replace my knee to fix the femur. It's been two weeks of waiting at Rehab and they have been amazing! Everyone was helpful and caring. Please do not hesitate to come to this facility!

My in-laws "purchased" a 2 bedroom apartment. They were required to give a deposit of 80% of the value of the unit. This is greater that $100,000. The contract says that Oakwood keeps the deposit for as long as it takes to sell the unit again. My family has been waiting more than a year for the return of the deposit. They built new units over there and had no incentive to sell existing units. If you know you will need this money to pay for nursing care following independent living, think twice about signing that contract. Even sleazy landlords are required to pay deposits within a reasonable amount of time and with interest.

Both my parents and now my husband have stayed here with awesome care from the nursing staff to the PT, OT and Speech therapy to the dining room staff, pastoral care.
Food is great, not a typical nursing home. VERY clean. The staff who work here are dedicated. Many of them have climbed the ladder with the tuition program, including their nurse manager. They all take pride in their work and it shows.
We're eternally grateful.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Suzanne B.Madison, WI01Jul 27, 2017
We recently had a very poor experience at Oakwood East Rehab. My friend had diarrhea for over 36 hours before anyone observed it or got a sample . even though my partner repeatedly complained and I spoke to nurses several times. When I called the RN as 36 hrs. were approaching she stated they couldn't keep an eye on him 24/7 and he was always flushing the toilet. I explained that I thought they knew he had memory problems and wouldn't remember that. That day I observed his stool and called a CNA in to also view it. There was a lot of fluid.
It wasn't until the next day they put a portable bowl in the toilet to cathc the stool. By that time I had called the doctors office and was told he should be checked for CDiff, which had never been mentioned by Oakwood Staff. When I told the nurse the doctor advised a CDiff check and we should have it done when we went fo the doctor visit that day. The doc advised it would be easier if Oakwood would do it. I had doc call Oakwood to make sure they could do it and they did it. Communication seemed very poor at this facility. I'd tell the scheduler when we were going out and see when I came to pick him up that OT and PT were scheduled for times we'd be gone. The bathroom was quite a mess one day and needed cleaning. Communication seemed to be a big problem there. Lots of different nurses and CNA's. One day an OT told him he'd be leaving that day and then the social worker told him later he would not be leaving - which was the correct answer. It appeared people didn't fully read doctor's reports and other data. Many staff seemed to try hard, but it didn't come together well. It seemed like it was a problem of too much information and not enough or not enough consistent staffing.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - G T.Madison, WI0121Dec 28, 2017
My mom stayed at Oakwood East rehab for a few months to recover from a fall and broken hip. Her condition was complicated by other ongoing health problems, including cancer, that the facility was just simply unequipped to handle appropriately. Some of the staff here clearly care about the patients and some could not care less. Several of her personal belongings were stolen, including medicine, clothing, phone chargers, etc, and the facility has made no attempt to recover them or apologize. Mom's wishes were ignored on several occasions and she was left in tears, feeling violated by being forced into treatments against her will. Their billing department has repeatedly sent me bills for 10's of thousands of dollars that we do not owe over the past several months and has repeatedly sent them to an incorrect address, despite having been provided the correct address several times. Bills they received from ambulance services in her name were not forwarded, nor were calls to them from the ambulance company seeking a mailing address returned for 4 months now, so those bills were sent to collections while her family new nothing of the problems. I would not send your loved one here. I feel incredibly guilty that I chose this place and subjected my mother to one problem after the other.
