I got a new batch of baby chicks a couple of weeks ago and realized I had everything, but failed to remember some probiotics and electrolytes for their water. I stopped here with chicks peep peeping in the car and was thrilled to find it's truly a one-stop-shop for all pet and horse needs! Everyone who knows my reviews, knows I'm all about the convenience of finding everything under one roof while avoiding big box chains.
To keep from going out again any time soon (because chicks grow fast and this is the time of the virus!), I got extra bedding for the chicks, feed including meal worms, food for my cats, even some treats for the squirrels (we never feed intentionally), and more for the outdoor coop and property.
I will also be bringing up horse wear for the consignment area when the time is right because there is a sales are for tack and all things for the rider. We are so lucky to not have to go all the way to Petaluma because this place is amazing and conveniently located just off 101.
Thank you, Novato Horse and Pet Supply! *clapping hands*Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Claire S.Sausalito, CA177Jun 8, 2020
I was in need of some chick feed about a month ago, and wasn't sure what was going to be open with the pandemic. There was one lone employee and no one else in the store, and he helped me find what I needed and even carried the feed out to my car. I am appreciative that they were open and had such kind staff!

I love having a place like this in my town. We got our chicks here last year, and they always have everything we need for our chickens. They really have a nice selection, and the people who work there are always friendly and helpful.
They have horse supply, of course, but stuff for dogs, chickens, and who knows what else? They also sell troughs, shovels, dog houses, chicken coops, etc.
I actually enjoy my visits here.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Doug B.Mill Valley, CA67Jul 9, 2020
As of June 9, 2020 they appear to be out of business. No one answered phone when i called. I got the answering maching saying they were busy with a customer. So, drove there. a "Closed" sign on the door at 10:30 am, and looking thru the window i could see the place is virtually empty of all merchandise. Must be out of business or moved. Sure would be good if they updated their answsering machine message!

Love this store! Everyone is so sweet & helpful. They have a great selection of everything and are more than happy to order something if it isn't already there. Jake the shop dog is the sweetest guy ever & I love getting greeted by his friendly face every time I go in.

Very helpful in advice and service, for anyone keeping backyard chickens or other farm animals. I have been going to them for years for chicken feeds and treats.

Up until this point, going here had been a benign, average, experience. I've been in several times to buy bulk supplies. But today, I walked in and there were a few people in line. I waited like a good, patient customer. Finally, there was only one person ahead of me, and I stood beside him, (I was right there, visible). There were two people at two registers. One (I think the owner?) started conversing with the customer ahead of me, inquiring about their vacation, which required a long, drawn out response. The other employee, sitting DIRECTLY in front of me at the computer with, yet another employee looking over her shoulder - (I think there were computer problems), also engaged the other customer about his vacation....NOT ONE looked at me, acknowledged me, said hello to me - nothing. It was like they had blinders on. I had been waiting a decent amount of time, patiently waiting for my turn - and I ONLY wanted to ask a simple question today - if they knew when they would have something back in stock.
You know, I know this isn't Europe, but if you go into a store in Europe they won't give you service and you will be ignored if you don't have the common human decency to say "hello" to the shopkeeper when you walk in. It is considered mandatory, and the lowest common basic consideration of normal, human respect for one another.
There's nothing worse than being COMPLETELY IGNORED as though you are invisible - when you've come in to give THEM business! As the other customer yammered on about his vacation and the two employees both continued to engage him in conversation (never once looking at me) - I just lost it, and walked out.
I won't go back - there's nothing like being made to feel like you're completely INVISIBLE. Disgraceful!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ryan K.Oakland, CA12314Jan 2, 2013
It's great to find a place where I can buy a bale of hay for my bunnies without supporting animal exploitation. Novato Horse & Pet Supply does not sell animals, so you can shop here without seeing sad cages with neglected rabbits, chicks destined for backyard slaughter, or other "feed store" atrocities.
Happy bunny rabbit!
Great local business, as someone who cares for adopted rabbits as indoor companion animals it's nice to be able to buy supplies and support a business that doesn't contribute to overcrowding our animal shelters.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Constanza P.San Rafael, CA1281976May 1, 2012
Addicted to this place!
It's the location and friendly service that make it a 5 star for me.
If you are lucky enough to live in central Marin or northern Marin you are probably addicted to it too. I have a friend who drives from Sausalito!
I wish there were more places left like it. If you need a spiral metal curry comb or a bag of COB for the deer this is your place. I go to Novato Horse Supply as much as I go to Trader Joes. It is just down the block from Trader Joes. Small place (compared to Rivertown in Petaluma) but they have a little of everything. The people are nice and they carry the heavy bags of grain to your car before you even get to your car. We ordered large heavy stall mats to be delivered to our horse's stall at Willow Tree Stables. Price was $5 for delivery. Now that is service!
Jedd is hilarious and the entire staff is friendly and treat you like a neighbor. You always leave with a smile on your face and your country store craving satisfied.
P.S. Check out the fresh oranges they sell.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
