I came here on a Sunday lunch and the vibes are great if you want to hang out with a small group of friends or on a easy, casual date. It's not too loud so you can hear your friends. The lunch menu is more limited compared to the dinner menu. I got the Chirashi Regular which came with 8 fat cuts of sashimi, 2 sweet eggs, 1 piece of fried chicken, masago, and seaweed salad all on top of a bed of sushi rice. I loved the sashimi, they were generous cuts. The fish didn't taste as fresh as I would've liked and the fried chicken piece wasn't crispy.
The restaurant was clean and the staff were nice and accommodating.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 12, 20241 check-in
Fresh, nice selection of Izakaya style foods and sushi rolls.
Small area with tables that fit up to 6 people max. Great place for small families. The servers are pretty chill, not pushy.
Sushi is super fresh. The skewers are slightly cheaper than other places around here. Most dishes are on the saltier side, would recommend taking that down a notch.
Looking forward to trying more dishes next time!Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Mar 25, 2024
The first time I came here was on a Sunday night, and I was very pleased. Would have given 4/5 stars!
But my latest visit on a Saturday night brought the review down to 3/5. Here's why...
Yakitori-
Gizzard and beef tongue- both were very chewy and not juicy!
Ankimo appetizer- this was probably the driest and most firm ankimo I've had. The cucumber slices were thick, with one piece under each ankimo chunk. They should have been thinly sliced, which would have soaked up the ponzu dressing.
What saved this review was the sashimi....
Salmon, sweet shrimp, yellowtail sashimi- these were good and the slices were decent in size. The fish/shrimp were also very fresh.
Corkage fee $30
Service 5/5 :)Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Apr 16, 2024Updated review
We enjoy coming here. The service is great and the food is always delicious. We love getting the nigiri. My personal preference is to have it seared which you can request for. The toro which was not pictured was my all time favorite. It's fatty and full of flavor.

We ordered:
-fried squid legs 5/5 , really yummy, we would order it every visit
-baked salmon roll 3/5, wished it was baked longer
-baked mussels 4/5, toppings went well with the mussels
-salmon nigiri 5/5, all nigiri comes with wasabi between the rice and fish. Came with thick sliced fresh salmon
-yellowtail collar 4/5, fish was tender and soft
Service is good, waitress was attentive & polite. All the workers greet you as you enter & as you leave. Very welcoming for customers. - 0101155Mar 15, 2024Updated review1 check-in
"Kazoku means family, and family means nobody gets left behind" - Suticchi-san. This definitely deserves the title and name as the No 1 Kazoku (family) that leaves nobody behind. Their food quality and service is top notch.
I would recommend: Squid Legs, Yellowtail Sushi, Yellowtail Collar, and Pork Belly Skewers (takes almost half an hour). I got their Tokyo fried rice a second time as well, and this time it was surprisingly very bland. But the flavor was still very good. I guess the salt got left behind. Great place.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jan 29, 2024Previous review"Without family, you've got nothing." - Dominic Toretto. To my understanding, Kazoku means family, and this is definitely the No. 1 Family you'd want to be a part of.
Very amazing sushi quality. The yellowtail here is very good. Their Tokyo Fried Rice is very good. Seasoned very well. Just be prepared, it can be a little pricey depending on what you get. It may be No. 1 to your taste buds, but it won't be No. 1 to your wallet. Still, very good. The service was great, all very courteous. - Feb 3, 20241 check-in
This sushi spot is located across the San Gabriel Hilton Hotel. The manager welcomed us in and explained the menu specials to us. We ordered 3 sushi rolls and their most popular clam skewer. They're all delicious and priced fairly for the quality of the food and service. Each roll has large pieces of fish and is super filling.
This place is good for large groups. They have a huge tv inside for people to watch sports. I saw they're doing a Super Bowl 2024 special.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Feb 1, 2024Updated review
I absolutely love coming here.
Having dinner here after work with my girl friend.
The manager (Cavin) here is super friendly and treats all customers like close friends. Just the customer service itself is worth the trip. Of course the food is bomb as well.
Definitely my to go to when I'm free in San Gabriel Valley after a long day at work!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Jul 18, 2022Previous reviewThis is my spot to go to for sushi in San Gabriel. Really fresh cuts of yummy fishies. I used to come here weekly before my work schedule got hectic. Now I try to hit this spot up at least once a month.
Their customer service is always on point. I always try to bring my friends here at least once just so hopefully they know the spots I love. Sharing is always caring.
The manager, Calvin, always cheerful and always welcoming. He enjoys drinking too and will always let you know what's good.
Sorry no pics, only had carpaccio and oysters this time. - Irene C.Rowland Heights, CA6355040Mar 24, 2024
Well served. Food kept coming. Water kept getting refilled. Great staff. I was so cozy. Chill location. Clean.
I'm happy with my boyfriend here for late night dining.
Bonus love. They have chicken tail. I never see it on menus. It's so good. (Bite from the sides to avoid the bone. Different experience than eating as a whole, with bone)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Elaine C.Arcadia, CA2349674Mar 4, 2024
The restaurant is a cozy place on the corner by or around Focus Plaza (I can never remember which building is exactly Focus plaza, so I just call that entire block "Focus Plaza" ~)
Our first waitress was nice, but seemed a bit tired and maybe cranky? A bit off? I'm not sure but I don't want to read too much into it. We were also tired from work so we just had rbf's all around. Last waiter and other waitress who helped us were super nice and friendly though!
Food was great. I posted a more detailed review of my thoughts on the food on my blog if you want to know the details (3lafoodies.wordpress.com - the website address might change in a bit). My favorite was the chutoro.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Carolyn C.Garvey, Rosemead, CA11216Apr 23, 2024
