Newport Fresh

I live in NYC and every time I come to OC the first thing I want to eat is this sashimi bowl. The first time my girlfriend ordered it for me I figured it would just be another poke bowl... but WOW. Hands down best bowl on earth. I always get mine topped with avocado. There is an option to order with chicken or steak. Both are delicious as well! The owners Danny and Monica are great! Thankful to them for this incredible food!!!!

This review's a little late, but the food and service were amazing! Me and my lady came here freshly after getting tattoos and walked over to this place. Awesome location, great service, great food. Would really recommend giving it a try

We came here at the urging of a friend and it is an awesome spot. We love their bowls and salads. The owners are super sweet and so kind. We love this spot. We hope it stays around for a long time.

P.S.: After working out, get your healthy eats at this spot!

It's a takeout spot for me- and one I enjoy beachside. I always get their crunch roll or their basic California rolls. Their eel sauce has a different flavor than other sushi eel sauces, but just a different preference. Haven't tried much, but curious to see how their sushi is on another visit. It's a bit pricey compared to other sushi venues, but it's Newport/Balboa so it's to be expected. They're a couple doors down from the best lobster roll place (in my opinion) but if you're in the mood for sushi, it's a convenient takeout spot not too far from biking/Newport pier/beach. I wouldn't dine in as they do not have AC (or at least it wasn't on during my last visits this summer).

Danny and Monica never disappoint. I always recommend this place to friends visiting Newport and I always stop by to get my fix whether sushi, salad, sandwich, bowl, etc . I usually do take out but they have a few tables as well. Call ahead to see if they're busy as they are a two person operation and sometimes get big catering orders.

This place is amazing! I've been coming here for years and it has yet to let me down. This restaurant is owned by a husband and wife and put nothing but love in their food. It is a small family business so I don't mind paying above average prices to support.

I've only ever ordered the protein bowl with different proteins and enjoy every spoonful! Highly recommend, this place is hidden gem.

We're on the hunt for a go-to sushi place in our area and popped into Newport Fresh for dinner Sunday night. This is take-out sushi not sit-down service. I wanted to like it - I love giving my business to small business owners. The food was good - nothing to distinguish it from other places. But based on this experience we will not be back. As you can see from the menu, things change often and the prices have gone up significantly from what's posted previously on Yelp. We ordered two rolls and should have been charged about $25 after tax based on posted prices. Instead he rang us up for $34! Very messy menu board to look at - demonstrated lack of pride of ownership as did the rest of the restaurant. Food presentation was sloppy and there was nowhere to put our trash when we're done. Nice folks but bad experience.
