You will NOT find a more honest, nice, skilled and laidback dentist anywhere! Do yourself a favor and get his second opinion. I mean that! Go somewhere else first and then take those recommendations to Dr. Boerner!

I really deliberated on posting this review but after sharing my experience with friends and family they told me I was very mistreated and I should never go back there.
I came in for a simple cleaning. From the start I was patronized about my teeth's health. She pulled up images from 6 months ago and pointed out my cavities and root canal. I told her I've been doing a lot of homeopathic remedies to help with tooth decay and to make my bones stronger since I couldn't afford 6 fillings and 1 root canal at the moment. She told me there's nothing I could do to help with my tooth decay. I told her I would get additional xrays done to compare and see if what Ive been doing has improved my teeth's health.
As she started to work on my cleaning she told me I had a lot of plaque and asked if I brushed my teeth. I said of course I brush my teeth. She said "are you brushing twice a day?" I said yes. She then asked if I floss. I said yes I floss almost every day. She told me I wasn't getting my gums. I said "okay I'll start getting my gums." She continued to talk about my tooth decay and how I need to get these procedures done ASAP. She repeated a couple times that my teeth will all start to fall out because the bacteria is spreading and I'm going to need dentures at a young age. I said "what like 10 years?" She said possibly 10-20 years at the rate YOURE going". She then said "I'm guessing you wont use fluoride" I said no, as I don't believe in Fluoride. She told me my mouth was acidic. I needed to balance the ph so if I won't use fluoride I can use baking soda. She also told me to buy an electric tooth brush. I told her I don't use plastic toothbrushes and I use bamboo. She kept going and going is my point. I felt uneasy, scared, frightened. I couldn't wait to leave. I have never dealt with someone so uneasy, so rude, so belittling at a doctors office in my life.
My teeth aren't perfect. I've had cavities since I was 10, unfortunately I have very bad genetics. I can tell you I brush twice a day and floss almost every day. I love the dentist. I love getting my teeth cleaned. I'm very serious about my health. The past 6 months ive rinsed with coconut oil twice per week and I drink 16oz of celery juice which is said to heal tooth decay. Not only do I feel like my teeth have immensely improved in the past 6 months but my acne is completely clear, I no longer suffer from adrenal fatigue or seasonal depression. I take VERY good care of my health. I rarely eat sugar, and if I do it's natural sugar.

I have set in many Dentist chairs in my life. Recently retired, I switched to Dr. Boerner, 2 yrs.ago. Best Dentist Ever. Takes the time to explain the procedure, makes you feel comfortable and at ease, and did great work on my crowns. Arcy at the Front desk is great and always friendly and helpful. The Hygeinist- Ruth also does a great job on my bi -annual teeth cleaning, while giving good advise for long term care.
To top it off. I just had an implant done. original process- Zero pain. That night- Zero pain. the next day and several weeks- Zero pain. Post-op bleeding, inflammation, or infection -None.
5 stars is not enough to give to Dr. Boerner and his Team.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 412642May 26, 2020
Went in for a zoom teeth whitening and came out satisfied. Great service and was quick. No problems or issues and the dentist told me exactly what the procedures would be. I experienced extreme sensitivity but it was as expected. My gums were a little damaged but healed up fine. White teeth didn't last long but nothing I would blame the dentist for

I had an emergency dental situation the day before Thanksgiving and called Newport Bay Dental at 10AM. They were very nice and scheduled me an appointment at noon same day. I hadn't been to the dentist in around 6 years and was very nervous about it. Dr. Boerner is the nicest dentist I've ever been to and the only one in 33 years that hasn't made me nervous / self conscious about my teeth. My tooth pain was near unbearable, but Dr. Boerner gave me a series of Novocaine shots with adequate time in between to allow everything to go fully numb before operating.
He did a quick root canal and made the experience pleasant, telling jokes and being personable throughout. The chair was very comfortable, each has a personal TV playing the food network (though he told me I could watch whatever I wanted). At the end, Dr. Boerner gave me his cell phone number and asked to call or text over the weekend if anything was hurting, and told me he'd be happy to come back in and do a follow up cleaning in their off hours if I had any issues. Tooth feels 1000x better now, literally saved my Thanksgiving!
Went back in for follow up today and was a similar experience. I asked about fixing my crooked teeth down the line and he said I'd be a good candidate for Invisalign which he can do in house when my crown / cavity work is finished. In a week's time, I'm no longer afraid of the dentist.
Highly recommend Newport Bay Dental for any people that are afraid of the dentist, regardless of teeth issues!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rachelle K.Huntington Beach, CA140103Jan 14, 2019
I am so glad I came to Dr. Boerner's office! I jacked confidence in be previous dentist and this office came highly recommended. The cleaning was so thorough, I felt I saw better results with they're regular cleaning than my previous dentist's deep cleaning. After such a good cleaning (by the kindest woman you'll ever meet) my crown even felt like it somehow for better and I was no longer apprehensive to chew my food in that side.
And Dr. Boerner's himself... Let me tell you, he has the calmest demeanor. He really makes you comfortable and at ease. I only wish I would have found Dr. Boerner's office sooner! I'll be coming here forever.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - David M.Costa Mesa, CA329Apr 13, 2018
I hadn't been to the dentist in far too long and I was worried about getting scolded about that from the hygienist and the dentist-quite honestly, I was a little embarrassed that I had waited so long-but that was absolutely not the case.
The entire staff was absolutely so kind and so professional, I felt like I was getting the best dental care you could possibly get anywhere. It really felt so warm and so easy, and as painless of a process as one could only hope for.
Dr. Boerner is obviously at the top of his field and treated me with the utmost of respect and suggested exactly what he should have, and I couldn't be any happier!!
I highly recommend going to Newport Bay Dental.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nichole G.Santa Ana, CA711526Dec 5, 2018
Dr. Boerner is an expert in taking the nervousness out of going to the dentist. I have never felt more comfortable or at ease at any doctor's office. Very personable and explained everything he was doing. He even showed me the incredible machine that moulded and cut my onlay (tooth cap) right there in the office. Shows his knowledge of what current technology is out there and that he uses it. Dr. Boerner has a very gentle hand as well, I didn't even feel the shot he gave me. The whole experience set me at ease. I know where I will always go to for my teeth from now on and that security of knowing I'll be taken care of is a weight off my shoulders.

The staff at Newport Bay Dental are amazing. From the moment I walked into the office I felt right at home. After my old dentist retired 10 years ago, I have never been able to find a dentist that I liked. A good friend recommended Newport Bay Dental and I can say with confidence that Newport Bay Dental will be my new dentists!
Dr. Boerner and the staff at Newport Bay Dental didn't try to sell me expensive treatments that I didn't need, or leave me sitting in a chair in agony for almost an hour, these are just a few of the terrible experiences I had at other dentists in OC.
Dr. Boerner has definitely mastered the "chair-side manner" that many dentist, unfortunately, never figure out. He will make you feel at ease, calm your anxiety, and give you a very pleasant overall experience.
I used to hate going to the dentist, but I actually look forward to going to Newport Bay Dental because I know I will have a positive experience and I'm sure you will too!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Janelle C.San Antonio, TX144162Oct 23, 2020
Wonderful dentist and staff, compassionate and caring. My child, who is normally fearful around strangers, had a great check-up. I was also treated with exceptional respect and kindness. Don't hesitate to make this your new spot.
