It's been a while since I felt genuinely cared for as a customer in a store. I visited the store today looking for a simple dark colored glass jar to hold my matcha. I not only found exactly what I was looking for at a reasonable price, but I found several other interesting things to enhance my well-being. The shopkeeper was so sweet and helpful-- not at all pushy. Prices were reasonable and I was grateful to be able to support a local shop rather than the Amazon- owned health store where I normally shop. They had a nice variety of essential oils and vitamins.

This is my favorite Health Food Store in town. The staff are so knowledgeable and helpful.
They go out of their way to make certain that your needs are met.
      I trust their wisom.
Plus, I LOVE their snacks and raw honey!

I love this little store. Their products are high-quality and prices are reasonable. You get 10% off everything and a larger discount if you spend more. This is the only place I've been able to find products that are gentle enough not to wreak havoc on my face, and it is small enough that they remember me from visit to visit. Highly recommended for CBD, vitamins, skincare products, essential oils, foodstuff, and more.

Great little place to find holistic needs! I went here specifically to find elderberry syrup to help stave off cold/flu season. I was immediately greeted when walking in. There was a huge assortment of elderberry products. I went with syrup since that's what I know. Elderberry syrup has been a remedy for centuries for colds and flus with huge immune boosting properties. As a breastfeeding mom it was important for me to keep my immune system strong while taking something that is still safe while breastfeeding, which is hard to find. It's hard for me to find safe supplements that are pediatrician approve for myself to take that won't affect my milk.
Be warned that like most holistic goods, it is pretty pricy. But this is also a locally owned and operated business, so it feels good to be able to support such. I plan to go back in the future for more syrup and other items as breastfeeding slows.

Popped in for some tea supplies, and found some great loose herbs & spices - great for making homemade tea recipes! These are also great for finding fresh herbs for cooking.

Other than that, nothing really made this place stand out for me. I was really hoping for a unique health store near my place, but most of the products I saw here can be found anywhere at much lower prices.

I wandered in here with a bias, I must admit. I'm no McCain-Palin supporter, but then again, I don't understand what a bone, flesh and cartilage salve is used for. Nor do I think that holistic pills filled with Argentum nitricum will relieve apprehension or "stage fright with agitation," as the bottle promises. So what I'm sayin' is, I'm no hippie either.

I walked along this market's aisles scoffing at what I thought were ridiculous prices. I came to find out they were really unit measurements, and I softened. Okay, I softened after tasting a few samples. Malt vinegar and sea salt chips samples, specifically. This place has a decent selection of food: herbs, fine chocolate, and a large selection of teas--including one made with fenugreek, one with fennel, and other interesting herbal combinations.

Overall, this place ain't bad. And for the massage-addicted, there's also an on-site chiropractor.

If you're looking for organized holistic medicine, Nature's Market is a place for you. Photo by Jennifer Litz.

      Oh no you did NOT.

I went in for vitamins and supplements, first time. A nice young man helped, then handed me off to an older woman. I tried to explain what I needed, I explained what I knew and had been told elsewhere. She didn't seem to want to listen, barely tolerating my presence. She talked down to me and overall was condescending, about everything. Then she said she needed water and left. And didn't come back. She couldn't even be bothered to finish her recommendations.

The place was empty, by the way.

It's a total rip-off, too. While I got products from the young man's recommendations, I checked prices when I got home. I only wish I hadn't open the packages, because here's the rip-off:

Curamin 21 Capsules - Nature's Way charged $20.95, Amazon sells the same for $16.42

Newchapter 40+ Every Woman II Vitamins - Nature's Way charged $44.95, amazon sells the same for $24.97.

I am NEVER setting foot here again. Don't you either.

I'm of two minds about Nature's Cupboard. I have shopped there off and on for twelve years.

On one hand, they really do go out of their way to help customers. They try to get in things for customers and have been great about being willing to try new products. They also have a lot of supplements, and big sections (as percentages go) for various dietary needs, like gluten-free or sugar-free products that are still natural and/or organic.

On the other hand, while most of the staff is very nice and helpful, a couple of them seem to dislike children--even well-behaved children. They were one of the first stores in Indy to offer organic baby food. The very first time I went in with my sleeping baby, many years ago, the male owner was distinctly unfriendly. But I put up with it because it was the only place I could get it for awhile. More recently there was an incident with my 9-year-old daughter in which they implied she'd knocked something off a shelf when she'd found it on the floor and was trying to return it to them, as I've taught my kids to do when they find something obviously out of place in a nice store. My husband was with me and he was deeply upset, knowing how much money we'd spent there.

I find myself wanting to go back in, because the staff is really very nice and they have a lot of hard-to-find products. But since my kids are almost always with me when I'm over that way, I rarely go in anymore.

I love that they have my son's vitamins here. They also have a fun little play area for my son to play while I shop. They have lots of organic and gluten free snacks. They do not have a lot of organic produce typically... it just depends. Regardless, the owners have been there for our family for years. They have able to explain and throughly provide me with information that I thought I might want or need. The owners are now grandparents as well and they are starting to carry more baby products, always a plus for moms!!
