About the Business
There are times in our lives where our struggles become especially difficult and we decide to seek out a therapist to walk a part of the journey with us. Therapy involves a very special kind of listening within the safety of a unique relationship. This special kind of listening is what is essential to my work. The development and transformation of each relationship between me and my client(s) is the creative, healing aspects of our work together. I work with people whose struggles run the gamut of human experience. I have been in private practice for over 20 years. I have pursued extensive training and certification in trauma, dissociation, and couples treatment. I also teach and supervise advanced therapists receiving post-graduate training in couples therapy and psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

In high school and college I suffered from severe depression and anxiety. I can not say enough good things about Ellie Muska. I began seeing her February of 2002, until I moved away in July 2007. When I first met Ellie I was hardly able to get out of bed and had left college.. I thought for good. After witnessing the WTC first hand in downtown NYC at the age of 18, and dealing with other issues, I really felt like I was never going to be fully functional as a person again.
Ellie taught me a lot about relaxation exercises and talked me through some of the most traumatic things I have ever experienced. I feel like she is the reason I was able to go back to NYU and eventually on to graduate school. I stopped seeing her and lost touch when I moved to California. If she ever reads this I hope she knows that she really changed my life and that I owe so much to her.
If you are looking for someone to talk to and live in this area then Ellie is the person to go to. She is kind, compassionate, smart, and has real solutions to help you. Ellie doesn't push too hard and if it's something you can't talk about right away she understands. I wish I could still receive counseling from her; I have not had anyone else who can even compare to her as a therapist, before or since.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Scott S.Summit, NJ82732Jan 26, 2016
Unfortunately for Ms. Muska's patients -- and their marriages -- there are only "narratives" and they are all created equal and they all have commensurate standing.
Alas, in this office, there are no true "narratives" or false "narratives." And whatever one partner does, well, in the end that's OK because, hey, it's just their narrative. And you know what? If the other party would just follow Ms. Muska's counsel and leave the house and separate, everything will be good. Problem solved.
Carefully seek professional advice. Do your therapist shopping homework.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - A T.Berkeley Heights, NJ040Jun 2, 2015
She is very thoughtful and compassionate and has excellent training. I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone who needs to speak to a professional about any type of problem. As a previous reviewer has stated, she is excellent in dealing with someone struggling with something traumatic in their past. She also has a good sense of humor. She knows and respects the boundaries of a therapeutic relationship and can be trusted.
