My friend and I had been excited to try one of Mukti's classes since pre-pandemic. One of the best birthday presents ever was doing the Vegetarian Cooking class with Mukti. I've done over 15 cooking classes in NYC and when we travel and this was by far the best I've been to.

The class was an intimate group hosted in Mukti kitchen in Brooklyn. Mukti's background as a scientist brought a different perspective from most of the cooking classes I've been to. She would explain each step from the scientific perspective as well her personal connection to the food and culture. Mukti facilitated a warm atmosphere was very welcoming and every student was able to participate rather than primarily demonstrations. We made several familiar Indian dishes (Chana, eggplant and rice) but everything was the BEST version we have had.

We have been inspired to cook with whole spices and love the recipes. Thank you Mukti for such a special evening. We look forward to coming back. I would highly recommend a class with Mukti if you are looking to cook healthy and delicious food. The class size is kept small which is a huge plus especially since Mukti's knowledge of Indian spices and Ayurvedic cooking is just as powerful of an experience as the physical cooking aspect of the class. I couldn't recommend enough - what a gem!

It's awesome to take a different kind of cooking class in NYC, and be in someone's home!

That said, I wish we could've participated more / the class isn't as hands on as I expected it to be. Usually in a cooking class each member is cooking the whole time, but that was not the case for this class. Perhaps there should be less people per class (there were 7 in ours in a small space). Most of us were standing or sitting for a couple of hours, not given the chance to prep food or be a part of the cooking process. It also would've been nice to have the recipes in front of us for reference - I didn't always know what we were making or why.

That said if you like to just watch the magic happen this is a good class for you! Personally, I like to be cooking and more involved in the preparation of the food. The food was great, of course, but I like to "do" more so I can really learn.

We celebrated a family birthday with a private cooking class for our family of 4 with Mukti. We could not have been happier. Mukti is warm, hospitable, and a wonderful teacher, and the food she helped us create was outstanding! Each dish was so wonderful that none of us could select a single favorite. Mukti accommodated all our dietary needs as vegetarians, and her teaching style was flexible and relaxed, while clearly focused on helping us learn the subtleties of Indian cooking. Thank you, Mukti, for a perfect evening!

Mukti was amazing! Great teacher and made us feel very welcome. I also really enjoyed the science angle behind the dishes. We learned a lot :) Thanks so much, Mukti. Highly recommend.

Mukti's class is a great way to break up your everyday routine and learn something new. As a former microbiologist, Mukti is uniquely positioned to explain the science behind cooking and the benefits of various ingredients.

She is clearly very passionate about teaching Indian cooking, demonstrating that it is not as daunting as it may seem. I have made several Indian dishes on my own, but was always a bit wary of delving into Indian breads. Not anymore! Mukti proved that this, too, is not only doable, but delicious.

You will walk away from this class with a breadth of knowledge and new skills that can be applied to many types of cooking, not just Indian. You'll also gain some incredibly flavorful and healthy recipes to add to your repertoire. Thank you, Mukti, for sharing your expertise; I can't wait to join more of your classes!

I enjoyed being in Mukti's class. Even though I am originally from India and had some Idea of Indian cooking, I learned some some things about spices I never knew before.Mukti was very patient with us and answered all our questions , she paid attention to us individually, I thought I was the only student. She made sure that we understood her instructions. I am looking forward to join her next class.

My husband and I had so much fun cooking with Mukti! We made 3 dishes in 90 minutes (see photo!) and thank goodness there was 2 of us b/c I forgot to prep the ingredients so one of us was chopping while the other cooked. I LOVE Indian food but never had the courage to make it myself. Mukti taught us so much while making the process very accessible. I'm ready to cook these dishes again AND I've already signed up for another class to expand my recipes.

Mukti is amazing! We took a cooking class that ended up being private because we were the only ones there, and it was an incredible experience. We were warmly welcomed into Mukti's home, cooked and ate delicious food, and heard amazing stories about Mukti's life. Highly recommend this experience!

Mukti's class is the real deal! It has brought me so much joy this past week cooking with and for my family and friends, and I think all of the recipes will be weekly staples (at least until I can take another class!) I'm so grateful to know I can prepare healthy organic and incredible tasting Indian meals at home with time and patience. I learned so much in the kitchen and was happy I could take a "treasure chest" of spices home for a very reasonable additional cost. I agree with others here: not only was the teaching an incredible value, the meal we shared at the end of class was the best Indian meal I've ever eaten! It was a hands on learning experience I won't ever forget. Thank you, Mukti!

Check out her website for all the class offerings and look out for her cookbook soon!
