This is the best classic style donut shop hands down. The dough is a perfect balance of flavour and love. Light, eggy, delicious. No gimmicks. Proper coffee too, large cups, hot and fresh.
Cash only.
But also great place to get lotto.

the croissants and donuts can make your day if you let them.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 21, 2023
Consistently delicious donuts, affordable price and friendly service! The donuts aren't too sweet, not too oily and are the right kind of crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Bring cash as they don't take cards.

I know I reviewed this place last August, but my review mysteriously disappeared. Monterey Donut had been closed for a few years due to a structure fire, and the entire neighborhood was thrilled when it reopened. The two sisters that own the shop are sweet as pie and know regulars by name.
The donuts are made fresh every morning - generous in size, reasonably priced (cash only), and delicious (especially the apple fritter.) They also have bagels, muffins, croissants, and a variety of coffee drinks. Sometimes I stop in to pick up a banana muffin for my friend.
The store is located in the Fresco shopping center, so there is plenty of free parking.Helpful 69Thanks 0Love this 66Oh no 0 - Oct 14, 2022
I love mom-and-pop donuts shops and I came across Monterey Donut on Yelp while trying to satisfy my craving for apple fitters. I grabbed the last apple fritter around 11am and it was delicious but a smidge dry. The donut holes were very fluffy and tasty. Both the fritter and donut holes more than satisfied my donut craving.
It's a small shop with a good selection of donuts and baked goods at very reasonable prices. Inside was clean and had two tables for indoor dining. Parking is in a shared outdoor lot with other businesses.

I love this place!
At other small donut shops, their donuts straight up taste like oil and grease. Anything you try here will be good! The croissants are delicious too. And the owner is so friendly

In my opinion, Monterey Donut offers the best classic glazed donut. The glazed donuts here are incredibly fluffy, chewy, and soft on the inside, with a nice smooth glaze on the outside. The donuts are huge as well and the price is of great value. There is also a tasty selection of other classic donuts to choose from, such as Boston cream, chocolate twists, cake donuts, etc. This spot is definitely a donut shop worth a visit - don't forget to try the classic glazed!

I haven't been here since the fire in 2016... I drove past the other day and had to look up if the same owners reopened. Low and behold they are!! I unfollowed their Instagram when I lost hope but was so happy they've finally reopened!
Chocolate donuts were my go to. Pre-fire, the chocolate glazed donuts were extra crunchy without being oily and the chocolate icing was more chocolate than icing. I recall the icing was almost black hahaha!!! But it was their signature donut that often sold out by noon.
Today I got a few to try out and not necessarily disappointed just not as contended. Donuts are good! Fluffy yet dense without feeling overly greasy. Icing on the other hand is more sugar than flavor. But there's no crunch... That signature crispy dough crunch was missing...
Great value, donuts are huge!!!
Cash only. Social distancing markings on the floor. Indoor dining is open. Please wear mask and be respectful.

Only donut place I know where donuts are still around a buck (a buck fifty to be precise), and sells out during the week and line out the door to buy boxes of donuts after 4pm.
But I say the best time to go is at 10am, or 2 pm. Coffee goes very good with her donuts around 2pm.
The donuts have thin and crispy layer of skin as u bite in, then you will experience soft - fluffy - ness and gooey - ness all at the same time, as you bite down. I say the perfect texture for a donut; you then suddenly realize you have missed out on this all your life with other things you thought they were "donuts".
The oil is very light and not soggy or heavy like at some boutique donut shops. Her donuts are perfectly flavored, not too sweet or doughy, just right. Her donuts are the definition of PERFECT donuts. You just don't believe it at first that you paid only about buck and half for this, and then recall all the other moments you had to pay more for other "donuts".
I recommend, Suger graze, chocolate graze ( the best) and apple fritter ( lots of cinnamon).
I feel so blessed to know this spot I can go to, is about a mile away from me! I say this is too good to be true!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
