I hate to leave this terrible review because the staff is so friendly. However, the food is horrible.
Mac and cheese dry as ever
Whiting lack luster
Fried chicken taste like it was cooked in old grease
Yams probably the best thing I ate and that's not saying much
If I'm going to spend $30 on food I expect it to be good.

Our GrubHub dinner from Moe's Soul Food tasted like it came from the kitchen of a grandmother whose culinary skills are steeped in southern, make-bellies-happy, history. I really don't have any complaints, other than personal preference, which was that I found the honey biscuit and sweet potato fries way too sweet to be considered a side dish, veering into dessert territory.
That being said, the meat and vegg entree option was a fantastic deal for the choices, portion quantity and the price. Absolutely loved the jerk chicken, baked chicken, meatloaf, collards, green beans, cabbage and fried okra. When dining is is available again, I'd love to go again to chow down, and thanks the cooks.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Auriel T.Atlanta, GA1513939Mar 31, 2023
I decided to try this place for lunch and I'm glad I did. I ordered the Fish Fry Friday fried whiting platter that came with seasoned fries, 2 hush puppies and a small side of slaw. My food came out in about 10-12 minutes and it was $12 for the platter. The fish was seasoned well and the hush puppies were very yummy. I'll definitely be back to try other items on the menu.

Ordered through DoorDash to try something new. I wish I would have read reviews first. The utensils didn't bother me like others complained about. However the food itself isn't that great. I ordered the fried chicken w/ Rice & Beans and Black Eyed Peas. I probably won't order from here again unfortunately as the food just isn't good. Hoping they are able to get better and stay in business!

(1) The older gentleman who seated us was beyond friendly and welcoming. He gets 5 !
(2) The food was not worth almost $50. In fact, it wasn't worth $10. The tea was old tasting and syrupy sweet. I guess when you get little business, the tea just sits there from noon until it's gone. (A previous review was correct: You eat with small Delta Airlines plastic utensils.) The cabbage and baked beans were inedible. The sweet cornbread was Jiffy mix. My friend said the roll was the best, and it was pulled out of a store bag. Just overall, it was a one-and-done. Left 80% of our food on the table. I was hoping the food would be as wonderful as the gentleman who seated us. Alas, no.
(3) The ambiance was functional. Nothing special. Just stark, dark tables and chairs. Definitely a take out joint, as we learned from the 3 people that came and left. (Maybe they doctored it up at home, or their own food tastes worse than this.)
(4) Final thought: not even a decent soul food restaurant. Service and friendliness 5 . Food is nothing. Being honest, not unnecessarily critical.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Karen E.GA, GA02Apr 27, 2023

My husband and I had a plan to try out on the last day of our Staycation. But was disappointed that it was not open at 1:30.

As a Lawrenceville resident, I'm usually in the mood to try what's new in town. The restaurant industry is hard, but for those that can make it past that first year...their chances for success are that much better.
This relatively new establishment for soul food is a good addition to the Lawrenceville/Grayson fast food cluster.
Location:
Good location next to the Waffle House and Pawn Shop on Scenic Hwy (near intersection of Grayson Hwy). Entrance to parking lot is on Scenic Hwy though. I got confused and tried to enter via Grayson Hwy (still able to walk over).
The order:
Was able to order over the phone; not too many rings before my order was taken. Order was read back to me, but the total wasn't quoted until arrival at the restaurant. Fine for me, since I could ball park the amount based on the menu pics I found online.
Prices are okay, a little higher than your Wendys or Long John Silvers...but they have to make a living right!
Order was ready in 20 minutes (as quoted).
Order was correct, and LOOKED good upon acceptance.
Upon consumption, most of the order tasted pretty good. The ribs were a bit salty and my son's chicken leg was under cooked (luckily i caught this before feeding him anymore).
Overall:
Great customer service, little high on the price point, cooking the meat more well done could be improved on.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
