Modell's Sporting Goods

Why all the hate? This is a nice location.

Clean, bright, organized. Maybe not the largest space but well laid out for what they pack into here.

I had great service purchasing sneakers. Plus, they had my size available where three other locations did not so I scored a few pairs on a terrific sale.

Plenty of merchandise for sporting goods and fitness apparel here too. Also, it was nice and empty on a late Friday afternoon as compared to the others I was at which were a zoo.

This is a decent location on the Upper West Side. This location has a good selection of sneakers, sporting goods and accessories. I was looking for another swimsuit as I'm a frequent swimmer (I swim at the gym at least 3 days a week) and decided on a pair of Speedos.

Didn't have what i needed, and when i asked to use the restroom i was directed to a dirty little room, toilet seat up, visible filth on the seat and bowl. Gross.

I got racially profiled out of the mere fact my modell's credit card was not honored. I called Modell's to verify that my card had no issues and they said my card was able to make purchases and that I may just need a new card. Regardless, the manager dismissed me and treated me horrendously. I have been a Modell's customer for years and have never been treated like this. I hope that the female manager who felt the need to treat me unfairly, with disrespect, and prejudice is reprimanded so she no longer represents the great company Modell's has always proven to be.

Selection is ok, and prices are better than what you'll get around the corner at EMS. At the same time, the two people we asked for help did not seem very interested in helping us. This certainly isn't the largest location in the city.

Great amount of material density in this Modell's location. In other words, they do not have nearly the amount of space compared to other Modell's locations, yet somehow manage to pack in A LOT of sporting goods. This Modell's is also much less crowded than other locations in manhattan, especially during busy hours. However, the lack of customers translates to a lack of cashiers. Whenever I go to purchase my items, there is usually a line of three or four customers waiting for the one cashier that is available. Modell's needs to find a way to have more cashiers open all the time. This should not be difficult because there is always a person who greets people at the door, something that is welcoming yet unnecessary. And there are also multiple employees standing around the store asking the few customers inside if they need assistance. If it were up to me, one or two of those employees would be working at the register to create a better customer experience.

I usually go to any Modells for my sporting goods however, I was running errands in the uws and looked up the nearest Modells. There I find the on on Amsterdam and 76th I believe. The store was neat and clean. Every employee was helpful and friendly (which is a nice change) and I found exactly what I was looking for. It doesn't always go this way in all modell's, but this store in particular my shopping experience was great. And even though I live near the one on 125th and the one on Columbus around 97th, I'll go a little further to this store because of the staff.
Looking forward to going back for more running tights!

Small-ish location, and the selection isn't as comprehensive as other locations, but the place is pretty clean and the staff was friendly.

RUDE and awful customer service (this doesn't pertain to them all, because when I originally tried on and purchased my shoes, the guy helping me was great). However, I wore the shoes around the house and didn't like how they felt so I returned them. The girls at the register had such an attitude when I said I had a return, let out a huge sigh (like how DARE I want to return something) and then when she handed me my receipt back I tried to be polite and said "thank you" and she just glared back at me and didn't say a word. Needless to say I'll give a local running store or Amazon my business, because my husband and I are never returning there again. WORK ON YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE, it's really not that difficult to be nice, even if you have to fake it.

terrible customer service; the box was ripped for a pair of shoes that were a gift and the sales lady wouldn't find a clean box for me. made me feel awful even for asking. then was laughing with her coworkers who were throwing a football in the store, but she was nothing but surly with me.
