HI I'm Minh
I've been coming to Mixx for a long, long time and the quality never is never disappointing! It's always a good option compared to the more bitter options like Red Mango and Pink Berry (a bit more for the bitter palate). Both the more dessert flavors such as Red Velvet and Cake batter are good but I will always come back for their more Asian inspired flavors such as taro and lychee.
I remember eating at Bonchon across the street and I was in need of a dessert to soothe my tongue and Mixx has always been that best friend to me!
I came with my friend one rainy afternoon and while i opted more for fruits and sherbets, he went all out and got red velvet and cookie's and cream. Both tasted great and the topping bar was on point with selection and quality as they have many types of candy and chocolate to ripe, sweet fruit and my favorite green tea mochi
Best place for a quick, quality froyo fixx! 5/5 - 2746778304/15/2017
Given that all of pinkberry locations are closed in Boston, came here since my wife was craving froyo like no other. Came around Friday afternoon and it was dead empty. We asked for small cups so we can try out different flavors and the dude literally stood with us the entire time while we were trying out flavors....I personally find small things like that super annoying and felt very uncomfortable... anyways...
Froyo tasted okay. Got the original and pomegranate. They had a lot of toppings but the fruits looked mad dry and old...
Overall not a pleasant experience and I probably won't be coming back. - 4504946156/19/2014Updated review
I've had 4 years to reflect on my previous experiences.
DIY frozen yogurt. Almond and lychee are my favorite flavors. Just not together. The staff is helpful in getting you samples just like any ice cream shop or froyo place.
I've been coming here since this place opened. At the height of the froyo craze, Boston was just coming on board, and Mixx definitely stayed on top of that game.
They still have solid flavors that rotate, but they haven't expanded the flavor line up. They've also raised their price about 25% since they opened. I'm not sure if it's rent prices or they just think it's summer and people don't care, but froyo at 50+ cent per ounce is pretty high in my opinion.8/24/2010Previous reviewYay! New flavors. Just a few weeks later we got some new flavors that are good. I'm sure they'll continue to improve their line of flavors.
Personal favorite flavors now include watermelon, and the three from before. Lychee, mango, pineapple.8/15/2010Previous reviewBest froyo in Boston, so far.
Good range of flavors, frozen yogurt consistency is also good, not too soft not too icy or watery.
Standard amount of toppings, although there could be more. I feel that most froyo places make more money off of toppings so why wouldn't they have way more? They should.
Why only 3 stars? It's because I'm from Los Angeles, and there's almost an endless amount of places to choose from which are mostly all good. Some of my top favorites is Yogurtland and Nubi.
With that said, probably a 5 star for the Boston/Cambridge area, but overall in the froyo world it's a 3, possibly a 4. I'll re-evaluate as I will return again. - Kim T.New Haven, CT1251074287/25/2016
This is my go to place for Froyo. Â My usual master plan goes like this. Â Go to Bon Chon chicken and inhale soy garlic wings until I'm about to explode. Â Then I hobble across the street into Mixx for desert. Â I always ask the girl working the counter to "try" some flavors even though she and I both know perfectly well that I've had all the flavors already and don't need to try anything. Â Still she puts up with my charade to get some free froyo and gives me a few sample cups to freeload for a bit.
Then I go thru my usual ritual of deciding whether the paper cup that's slightly wider but shorter, or the one that's slightly narrower but taller will hold more froyo while weighing less. Â I usually go with the wider shorter one and build the froyo up. Â Then I load up on 4-5 flavors of the good stuff, Â making sure to leave room on the sides to stuff toppings onto.
For toppings I usually go for max sweetness to weight ratio. Â Fruits are mostly water anyway, and so I only pick my favorite ones, like lychee, and fill those prior gaps I left with things like M&Ms and Reese's Pieces.
Finally I load up on a huge round of whipped cream. Â That stuff barely weighs anything, so it's pretty much free.
At check out I try to avoid the judging eyes of the cashier as my single Froyo ends up weighing in at around 15 dollars or so. - 5922091981/4/2016
No complaints from this place. I love getting the different colored mochi but from what the worker there said, it's the same taste but different colors. There's such a variety of flavors and toppings I can't even pick the one I want. I might just take a bunch of sampling cups and try all of them. The popping boba is also a great addition, it's pretty fun to eat. Love this place to death, the first frozen yogurt place I've been to.

I'm normally not a fan of serve yourself frozen yogurt, something always breaks. But they had staff there to help when it happened to me--I didn't break it! It was out! I swear!
So many options for flavors and toppings. Maybe too many sauces--who's going to pick herseys when you can have ghirardelli? - Shortcake R.Boston, MA9871049/3/2017
My most favorite flavors are Original tart, Lychee tart & strawberry tart. For the toppings I love adding fresh strawberries, kiwis, & the strawberries popping pearls. The best of all  is you can Do - it- by - yourself MiXX!

Mixx is my favorite place for frozen yogurt in Boston! They always have really good flavors, rarely there is a line, and there is always a seat if you want to stay and eat it. Mixx has endless amounts of toppings to put on your froyo and if you want to taste a flavor before committing they will give you a free sample of it. Mixx can get expensive as it's by weight like most froyo places but it is a great treat. I usually end up spending around 5-7 dollars on my froyo here. The location is wonderful as well since it is right in the main area of Allston making it an easy after dinner treat. I never have trouble finding parking if I drive there. They also have tops if you aren't staying and want to take your froyo to go.

I've been waiting to come back ever since I left.
I made the trip and was so sad to find it closed because of a fire on the block. This made it even more important for me to come back...
Yeah I made it. I found these little mango and strawberry balls. They remind me (and I thought they were) bubbles from the bubble drinks but they are not chewy they are actually little balls of juice. I LOVE them.
Again, another reason to go back. I am sticking to the Lychee. I tried the cheesecake with little squares of cheesecake on it but didn't love it. But the pomegranate was a yummy winner.
Parking is always a bear but the price makes it worth it. Â I think we had 9 full dishes for $20! Â We all left with big smiles!6/24/2011Previous reviewThis is by far the best Froyo place! Â I love that you can make your own and the price is just right.
Pick from a variety of flavors the add any kind of topping from the a huge fresh fruit and candy buffet or add sauces and syrups or do it all!
The dishes are deep and way to easy to fill up. Â It would be cool to have a banana boat type of dish. Â Then I could make individual samplers of every flavor and add topping to each one.
My favorite is the Lychee with lychee fruit on top!
The texture is perfect and not as icee as some of the other froyos.
This is off my normal travel path but so well worth the trip. - Ruby C.New York, NY102133518/26/2017
Not great. I used to think that u could never go wrong with froyo. I got their original tart and when the froyo came out it was already a little melted. So basically once I started eating it, everything was soupy. I've never seen that before.
They do have a huge selection of toppings though.
Also lots of seating, and also have bathrooms. The other thing is, for whatever reason, it's very dim in there and we actually thought it was closed when we walked by (bc it was dark, empty, and the workers were nowhere to be found).
