Mingo's Barbershop

I'll start by saying that I'm SUPER picky when it comes to getting a haircut and finding the right place! ...with that being said:
Can't say enough great things about this spot. I've being coming here to get my haircut every other week for the past few years. That says everything!
My guy is Domingo AKA Mingo! He's an excellent barber whose work ethic is off the roof. Very dedicated to his craft, very professional, and always creates a great experience for those visiting the shop, whether you are there to see him or the other great barbers/stylist.
The shop is always clean. The service is always great and the price is very fair!

Hidden gem with high quality results at a reasonable cost so definitely adding a nice extra tip is a good way to show your appreciation for their work. From 2020 my teenager son offered me to cut my hair and since then he's been my barber... lol. So I haven't yet fully returned to places like this because my kid got really good at it and I love spending more one on one time with him. But with his college, work and girlfriend he's busier than ever so I had to find a new place to handle my hair and someone recommended me this place.
Each time I went without appointments and only waited no more than twenty minutes to get service. They're fast, detailed and very efficient so you're in and out quickly and with great results. And I say they because each time I had a different person and each time the results were good. The guys here are professionals and with the many large screens playing movies, times goes very fast too.
For sure I'll keep coming here for more service.

Today I went into Mingos for a haircut. I hadn't had a haircut or a shave for in almost 2 years. I was greeted by Carlos as I entered the shop. I asked him if he was ready for a big job. Carlos said he was. So I asked him to shave my hair and beard down to a short length. Carlos did an amazing job! He didn't try to rush at all. He took his time, and got every little detail. I walked out of there feeling like a new man! I've been to many different barbers, who tried to do a rush job, but I didn't get that from Carlos! I will definitely return to him for my future hair cuts and beard trims. Thank you Carlos, for doing a great job on my hair, and making me feel like a valued customer! I will definitely be seeing you in the future!

I've lived in the Southbay for over 25 years and good barbers/hair stylists have come and gone. Milton, who works here at Mingos is legit! Knows what he's doing (all the barbers here seem like they're great) and does a great job. So much so, he even made an aging old man like me look good again!

Mungo is my go too, quick and professional. Always a good vibe in there as well plenty of TV's to watch something while getting chopped up. Quality cut every time slide on through

Located in a shopping plaza. With plenty of free parking. Barbers were very friendly. Got a simple haircut. Just the sides and the back. With a little taper. Left the top as is. Came out great. Prices are reasonable. Highly recommended.

Which was my son, and he said he doesn't know who will be available next, uncoordinated place very outdated zero stars for me thumbs down very unsatisfied.

I highly recommend Mingo's Barber Shop for all ages. Not only are ALL of the barbers great at what they do, but this is an establishment of comfort and pure professionalism. They are all polite, patient and respectful toward all customers that enter the establishment. Unlike other barbershops I have been to, Mingo's Barbershop has no nonsense, profanity or disrespect of any sort.

My hair is almost waist long except for the undercut of the nape of my neck up to behind my ears.
I was at DSW and my neck needed to be cleaned up. I saw Mingo's and thought "What the heck, since I'm here?"
I let the barber in the first chair know what I wanted and that I would take anyone with an open chair. Since it was Saturday afternoon the wait was about 30 minutes.
The first barber that became available swept the floor rather than look me in the eye. But I'm used to this - maybe they're worried I want to shave my head.
The barber in the first chair called me up, cleaned up my neck with trimmers, put some gel on my neck and then used a flat blade/razor.
It took him less than 10 minutes and my neck was as smooth as glass without any redness or irritation.
I'll go back.

I followed Angelica to Mingo's Barbershop and am recommending all my adult and kiddie friends go to her. If you're looking for a great cut that doesn't break the bank, give her a call.

We first met Angelica last year through the haircuts she gave my sons at the Snippets kid chain salon in El Segundo. We went through quite a few different salons and stylists before we had the luck of finding Angelica. She was adept at hearing my detailed requests (viewing pictures and asking questions), cutting and checking in frequently throughout the process (cause I realize what I ask for from a pic may be too long when I see it in real life) and allowing me to do a final inspection before finishing (stray hairs from the buzzers, adjustments given cowlicks, etc). She was their best! We sorely missed her when she left Snippets in FEB.

But I tracked her down!! She jumped ship and has been at Mingo's ever since. It's the no frills barbershop (under construction this month) in the corner of a strip mall with Sizzlers, DSW and Big 5. It's across the street from The South Bay Galleria.

They do barbershop staples and also adult cuts (men and women) and kids cuts too. Prices may vary by who you choose. Angelica charges about about $17 each. About $20 if you opt for a zero cut (shave down).

Yesterday, I had Angelica give ME a haircut. I trusted her ability, having watched her do so many of my kids' haircuts. Plus, she shared that she used to do adult cuts at JCPenny Salon in Merced. That's training and experience I can rely on.

I was long overdue for a cut (mama life was my excuse) and asked her to cut off 4 inches and give me a different style with lots of layers. She made sure I had a quality cut. I got what I envisioned -- It's a great haircut!

I'll bring my kids around next time (and bribe them with toys I have myself vs what the Snippets prize robot spits out). They may enjoy seeing her again. And I welcome a step up in the quality in their hair cuts.
