I cannot say enough good things about this place! The variety and quality of their cheeses is exceptional, but they carry much more than just cheese. They have everything you could dream of needing for a cheese and nibbly platter for entertaining, from black truffle potato chips, to bacon jam (yes. you read that right. BACON JAM.
The food is only part of what makes Mill City Cheesemongers such a fabulous place. The staff are always cheerful and eager to help you pick the perfect cheese(s) for you. They seem genuinely happy to see you and are enthusiastic about everything they offer. There are always smiling faces offering knowledge and samples. It is always a pleasure to shop here.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Chris K.Boston, MA13797Nov 17, 2016
After you go through a creepy tunnel and go up an equally creepy elevator, you'll find a welcoming shopping area. About half way down the "street", there lies a cute little cheese shop. Once you go in, you won't leave empty handed. (Unless you're allergic to dairy, if so, you can keep walking).
All the cheeses on sale are shown in the display case. They are labelled with the type of cheese and the flavor notes. If you have no idea what cheese to get, the employees have been very helpful and knowledgeable. They let you have samples and greatly assist with the selection of cheese as it can be overwhelming to newcomer. The prices are very reasonable here compared to other special cheese shops.
Along with the cheese for sale, they offer many different accompaniments. The current selection are teas, crackers, various nuts, ,and dried fruits. The caramels that they sell there are so good!
They also have a CSA program which has been great. We did the base option of getting three cheese samples only, and they have been a great way for us to sample different cheeses that we'd normally not buy.
Since they have settled in, they are also offering classes. I haven't been to them yet, but they appear to be cute as introduction to cheese and such. It could be a cute date night idea!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alexander J.Shrewsbury, MA148613Jan 6, 2019
Such an excellent little shop. Their cheese selection is excellent, they have a lovely selection of wines, ciders, and craft beer small and to the point. There is also a lovely celection of cocktail bitters and other accompaniments. This place is an excellent spot if you're hosting a party or you just want to treat yourself to the finer things in life. I only wish it was closer to my home.

This place is a great go to if you're looking for higher quality cheeses. The staff are very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. I let them know what I was cooking, what I like, and they had two great recommendations immediately which they offered samples of. I was able to pick out exactly what I was looking for in a matter of minutes, and enjoyed chatting with the staff through the process. This place is lovely and will be a go to for me in the future when looking to try new cheeses.

Fantastic selection of cheese. They'll even give you a free sample. My mother ended up buying what she later called the best sharp cheddar she's ever had and it was a great price. They have a nice selection of meads and beers and wines. We ended up getting a mead that was very fiery. Interesting taste for sure. I'd go back just to look at their alcohol selection. We also tried the cheese caramel. I've never had caramel with cheese in it and it was a different flavor - not bad at all. I was enticed by how many caramels they had and the toffee flavors - tomato toffee almost got me to buy just to try it. Maybe next time.

You have to try this place. They have almost every cheese made on the planet. The owner is super nice and very helpful. Before you buy a cheese she gives you a taste of it to make sure you like it. I use to go online and get my cheeses from Murrays in New York. Now I am going to go to this awesome place. Very clean and the place just has a nice feel to it the minute you walk in. Thank you to the owner for giving me the best 4 picks of cheeses for my family Christmas. You where very helpful. And I he cheese is fresh and awesome !! The place is on the 4th floor of a mill building on Jackson st. Take the elevator to the fourth floor and head down the hallway to cheese heaven !!!!

The cheese was pre-wrapped by you and bought in November. So if you know it was cut and wrapped in October, that's on you. There's no date stamp on the wrapper.

I'm so sorry to see this, and sorry that you weren't happy. It's exactly why we cut all our cheese to order in front of customers and don't pre-wrap cut pieces - no one wants a moldy surprise!
While that mold wouldn't have been present when you purchased the cheese in October, some mold development over time is typical for a cheddar like this one. Even though it's not harmful, I agree that it doesn't look nice. We do our best to suggest that customers finish their cheese within a week to 10 days of purchase in the hope of avoiding unpleasant changes.
We would be more than happy to replace this cheese with a fresh piece that you can enjoy right away if you'd like. We want customers to be comfortable and happy, and cheese should be fun, never pretentious! Please feel free to stop in for another taste and a replacement piece of cheddar or whatever you'd like.Nov 11, 2018Previous reviewif you're looking for pretension, look no further. hipster Lowell abounds. but the $9 piece of cheese sold to me was covered in green mold.

This place is a delight! Tucked away on the 4th floor of Mill No 5, this adorable shop is filled with the most amazing cheeses, rivaling any cheese shop in Boston metro. There are adorable accoutrements like jams, jelly's, chocolates and caramels. The drink mixers are dope as well. On most Saturdays they have some sort of special snack which is a great way to try some unfamiliar cheeses in a variety of ways. It ain't cheap, but good cheese is worth the

I love their cheese the few times I have been able to buy it...but they are never open. If you call their voicemail says that they are open WED-FRI 12pm - 8pm and their stores hours state the same and yet every time I call or go to their store, they are not open.

This small shop has a nice selection of cheeses that you won't find in the supermarket. Prices were reasonable. I'll be going back soon!
