UGH. Another true Davis gem it took me too long to try. I actually ended up going to the Mikuni in Arden and in Roseville before I made it to the Davis Mikuni and I've been living in regret ever since I realized I lost 6 years of Mikuni by not coming here sooner.

I've had several rolls here, but I've been consistently happy with the mafia roll, and the Annie Roll. I also LOVE any of the zigzag handrolls. Past that, the tempura is amazing, and both the freaking edamame and illegal asparagus are the best ways to get in your veggies for the day. My boyfriend who doesn't even eat sushi lives and dies by the pepper fin which is also one of my personal faves these days.

Though it took me too long to get in here, I clearly have made up for lost time with all of the times I've been back and tried. I really love the 2 for $45 becase it's a TON of food and an amazing deal for sushi. You really can't go wrong with it, as the options are not limiting whatsoever, and you can mix and match ever time you go.

Like I said, I'm bummed it took me so long to come in here, but I'm glad I have now and plan on continuing to come back as often as possible. Mikuni has definitely become one of my new Davis faves.

As every year, I go to mikuni on my birthday, specifically so I can spin the birthday wheel. I really feel the need to rethink that, the service I received was less the stellar, so much I prolly will stop going. We arrived around 4:30-5:00pm on Friday, the wait was not long, we we sat fairly quickly. The waitress took so long to come and take our order we could only get a small bite since we had to catch a movie across the street. She was not tolerant of our time crunch and made me feel like I didn't matter. What a birthday. Yippee

    NOT!

Why hadn't I eaten here sooner?! Lived in Davis for about 4 years now and this was my first time dining here, and boy, do I regret not coming sooner. I just assumed this place was ridiculously expensive given the location and word of mouth, but they have a pretty extensive menu with a wide price range. There are definitely some pricier menu items but also a decent selection of affordable options, too.

My boyfriend and I were hungry and ordered ALOT. 2 ramens (miso and tonkatsu), the James roll, the Mel roll and uni nigiri to finish. We came on a Thursday evening and we seated immediately. Our food came within 20 minutes of being seated. Everything was so good....ugh.

The rolls were frickin MASSIVE. The ramen broth so flavorful and it came with 3 pieces of chasu?! Unheard of. And the uni (I think this is a seasonal item) was to die for. I wanted another piece but my wallet told me no. They have such an extensive menu, will have to come back to try everything else!!

Great sushi! The karaage was so good and it came out hot and super crispy! The Japanese mafia is by far my favorite roll. The sauce is sooo bomb. They must flame the top of it because there's a hint of smokiness in it and it complements the fish so well. And whoa, the salmon skin hand roll is off the hook! The salmon is really crispy and flavorful. Also has the bomb sauce in it. The 49er Jack is a good choice too. These are def my go-tos when eating here. The tables are a little squished together but the great service made up for that!

I'm ashamed that I've only just visited Mikuni after witnessing it's grand opening some 15 years ago (due to my unwavering loyalty to the previous establishment Fuzio). Decided to give it a try after being sick of having nothing new to eat around Davis and it was pretty good!

the interior design is identical to Fuzio, minus the sushi chefs and bar. Waiters/waitresses are very professional and this is not your casual davis sushi buffet.

I ordered the $17(lunch price) chirashi bowl - my usual goto for good price-quantity - and was pretty impressed! The quality of the fish was not exactly top notch, but very surprised to fish this fresh in Davis! Great portion size and included squid, salmon, hamachi, white tuna, shrimp, seaweed salad, etc. Ginger and soy sauce of were of the commercial kind, but everything else was quite authentic.

Do have to point out that the dishes and cups that came with the meal were pretty dirty and I had to rinse them out so -1 star.

Undoubtedly the best sushi in Davis.

Wanted to go to Pluto's but they were closed for cleaning. Decided to have sushi instead. The restaurant was very crowded. We elected to sit at the bar.  Wait service was so so. Fortunately the chef preparing our rolls was  right in front of us.

We had 3 rolls.  All were tasty, but not spicy although they were supposed to include spicy tuna. Pimp my roll Carmichael roll and Masa three. Total bill $39.89 before tip.

We were on our way to Sacramento when we decided to go grab a bite to eat. Did a quick yelp search and saw a mikunis here in Davis. We had go to the one at Arden fair, so we decided to check this one out.

Location was easy to find and in a nice area to park. The restaurant was a bit on the cozy side. They have a outside seating area here. So since it was a nice day we choose to sit outside. The table location wasn't bad, but the trees and vine like bushes near by were starting to drop their leaves. This was a bit on a bothersome but we deal with it.

We has a very nice waitress. She was attentive and helpful when we needed anything.

We ordered some hand rolls and a bentobox. It was delicious.

Over all it was what we expected from mikunis, just as good as the one in Sacramento.

Super sad that Mikuni at Northstar closed, but glad that there's a Mikuni in Davis we can stop at while heading back home after a day of boarding.

I thought this location was pretty average, I remembered liking Mikuni a lot better at Northstar.

We always get the Black & White - which was just okay here, maybe a bit over torched? I ordered a variety of sashimi and nigiri which satisfied the sushi cravings, however nothing in particular stood out.

They have a really extensive menu that includes cooked food and rolls (seems most popular here) if you're into that stuff. Overall, it's a good spot to go to if you're looking for a lot of variety.

Mikuni is one of my go to restaurant for sushi and fresh fish. I have been coming to this location and the one in Sacramento for a long time due to their consistent quality in food and service.

One of my favorite rolls is the DMC roll. It is super delicious and it has lobster in it! Who doesn't love lobster am I right?

Also try the pepper fin if you're into raw fish. BBQ albacore is another good one.

    Will be back soon!

I loved coming here when it first open (about 6-8 years ago ... during my Aggie days)

But that surely changed after this last visit.
We decided to swing by after coming back from a long weekend in Tahoe.

The wait was extremely long. But so we were already there, we opted to wAit. During the wait, I decided to use their bathroom... which is in the back. I noticed servers tables empty but yet they didn't seat anyone there.

Anyways, we finally got seat (at one of the tables I noticed that was empty 30 mins prior). It was towards the back, near the bathroom.

We were starving and ordered our food immediately since we had more than an hour looking over the menu as we waited.

The food came out fairly fast.
The rolls and appetizers were decent. Nothing amazing. And in my opinion... too pricy. $17 for a roll. Whoaaaa.

The server seemed to disappear after they gave us our food.

Overall food was okay, service was subpar.

One of the most popular japanese restaurants in Davis. It's usually packed around dinner time on weekends. With that being said, the food can be a hit or miss depending on what you order. It also isn't super cheap, but if you order the right dishes, it'll be worth it.

I usually like to order the iron chef combo, although it is a little more expensive. For $18, you get ~5 pieces of nigiri and a set sushi roll. It's very basic, but I like the variety. Another one of my favorite dishes is an appetizer: freaky edamame. The edamame is served warm with a bunch of seasonings (salt, sesame oil, sesame seeds, etc.... not sure what else). I even tried recreating the dish at home, but couldn't quite get it right. Lastly, I would recommend the garlic salmon, which is sliced seared salmon over a bed over some avocado mash. It's super simple but delicious!

Dishes I would skip out on: Tan tan men and calamari

    Best sushi place in Davis.
5 stars - most vegetarian friendly options I've ever seen on a menu!
Saving Nemo and The Vege-ten rolls - love!
And this place is great with friends or cute enough for a semi dressed-up date.
    Service was friendly and attentive.
Had indoor and outdoor (heated lamp) seating.
    I will definitely be back!

It's no secret. I'm a big fan of the Mikuni chain. I've been to most of their other locations but this is the first time visiting the Davis location.  We were here to celebrate two birthdays.  We didn't make reservations but got there 30 minutes after they opened on a Saturday and it was packed already.  It didn't take long to get our seats and our server was very attentive and brought out our drinks, apps, and entrees in a timely fashion. Puff daddy is still one of our faves, and we also ordered staples such as wakame and cucumber salads, miso soup, and calamari. I loved my pepperfin  (ordered off the gluten free menu) and my hubby loved the BMW roll. One of his staples is the Japanese Mafia as well.

Our desserts were complimentary for our birthdays  (join the Koki club for these type of rewards) and we ordered the cheesecake eggrolls.  I originally wanted the chocolate lava cake but they were out so I got the triple chocolate mousse instead.  This ended up being a blessing in disguise because the mousse was so good! Save room for dessert and try this one.

Before our exit we got to spin the birthday wheel and got a surprise. Another reason to adore Mikunis!

The food is so good here, can't say enough about the sushi and appetizers.
Service is also usually very good.

DONT GET THE MARGARITAS! I got one yesterday and it tasted like straight sweet and sour in a glass. I could've gotten that from buying some margarita mix at the store :(

Probably the second best sushi place in town, but service is abysmal. Had a party of 10, waited a full hour on the list while they let people after us on the list in. They put together tables for a party of 8 who arrived 30 minutes after we did. We went in to ask what happened they realized that they fucked up. Absolutely incompetent waitstaff. Sorry Arai family, your granite bay location is far superior and you should probably train your waitstaff at the davis location.

It's not that great of sushi and it's very overpriced. The menu does have some excellent cuts of fish, but it's still overpriced. I'm always stunned when you see all these thots from Sacramento talk about how it's their favorite sushi spot. They clearly haven't been to a good place. Or they just enjoy eating overpriced rolls covered in mayonnaise and stuffed with cream cheese. That's not good sushi.

It's a good vibe restaurant with diversity customer and employees... make it feel like eating at home.

    1) Food: American sushi, combination of traditional Japanese style and creative American style
    2) Taste: good, it cater to all type of foodie
    3) Service: Great server, good high, awesome attitude
    4) Price: Between 15 - 40 dollars

This is a good place for Friend to hangout at. It is in college town.
I gave a 3 stars because it's good but not specialty.

Try it out when you are in Davis California.

Loved the atmosphere and food is great. For birthdays you get to spin a wheel and win prizes like wasabi, bag of rice, Mikuni drinking glass, etc.

I've been here a few times now because my brother goes to Davis. This is my family's go to place for Japanese place because we always enjoy eating here.

It can get crowded sometimes, but it's definitely worth trying. The workers here are really nice and always make you feel welcome.

The service is pretty good, but here's a tip: sitting outside = slower service. Today my family and I sat outside and we were never able to find our waitress when we needed to order more or ask for more drinks. Don't get me wrong, our waitress was super nice! It was just inconvenient having to wait so long for things like water and tea. I've found that sitting inside is more convenient in terms of getting served faster. (But if it's crowded you kinda just have to sit wherever is available.)

Our first time coming here, we had Miso ramen and Benjamin roll....and to make it even better, we had it with sake bomb! Def coming back here for some more. The Benjamin roll was spicy but just right for my taste. The Miso Ramen, well if it's ur first time and don't know what to order always go for what u know and what u like...and i always like miso soup so...yeap it was good decision making. Hehe.
