all I can say is my son loves it since the first day he went to watch the class , we went to other dojos but my son knew this was the place for him , very warm and respectful environment all I was looking for my son to have an activity beside his regular school clases highly recommended to everyone! we love it !

I have been taking twice weekly fitness kickboxing classes with Mr. Maurice for over two years. He changes the workouts so it doesn't get boring. He is very helpful and motivates all of us. Highly recommend!

This school has the best teacher a parent could ask for when looking into an instructor for your child. He is kind, patient and understanding. He will bring out the best in your child. My family and I are so happy to be a part of the Montebello Kenpo 5.0 Family!

My son has been in JSK 5.0 for about 6 months now. Since I've enrolled him, we already see a difference in his character. More mature, alert, and confident. He's also becoming more goal oriented. Before we came here, I did some research on the schools and teachers in the area. I came to conclusion that Sensei Maurice is the right teacher to go to because of his accomplishments. Not only is he a Sensei in Kenpo 5.0, but also has experience in Muay Thai and Boxing. He has also trained multiple police departments in self-defense. He arms the students with realistic ability to protect themselves in a real-life scenario.
In today's volatile world, we as parents need to equip our kids with the right tools to defend themselves. It's not a question if, but when it goes down, you want them totally confident in protecting themselves and whoever they're with. Well, we're on that path now and I sleep well at night knowing that. If you are thinking of a class for your child or are an adult looking for the right dojo, just come for one class. That's all it will take to know what we have here with this dojo is a gem.

Great place, great people and staff. Sensei is always available to answer any questions and concerns. He is a great instructor and helps his students excel. I highly recommend this place to anyone of any age interested in martial arts and self defense. The prices are also great, very reasonable, I checked out other places and they were very expensive.

We were looking for a sport for our kids to get into and we thought about giving karate a try. At first our kids were a bit hesitant and in a little more than a year they grew to love it and the JSK 5.0 family! Great instructors, family owned, and everyone (including the other students and parents) are all down to earth. Our kids not only learn how to defend themselves, but how to carry themselves, to be respectful, and help others. Plus, we looked around at different schools, and you can't beat the price here. I very highly recommend this school!

My son and daughter started taking kenpo 5.0 classes two years ago when the school had just opened here in Montebello. They had no martial arts experience but quickly fell in love with it. Sensei Maurice and sensei Alex are so patient, encouraging and supportive. They also push my kids to be their best. It's really not just a sport. My kids have gained confidence and learned diligence and discipline. The culture of respect is so good for kids to learn as well. The instructors have invested so much into my kids and that is truly invaluable! I highly recommend this school!

This school is not only a place where students can learn about self defense but it will also encourage them in their confidence as young human beings. They will want to perform better in every aspect of their life. So many challenges and rewards that they can't resist. My son has developed into an incredible young teen and I can't thank this community of devoted people enough. You will not be disappointed.

I found this studio on Next Door and thought it would be great for my 10yr old son to join since many of the city activities were canceled because of COVID. After taking the trial classes I decided to sign up and later added my 2 other sons (ages 5 & 8 yrs) to the younger class. The studio is conveniently located in my neighborhood. Maurice and Alex are great instructors. They are patient, encouraging and teach in a way that's age appropriate. Sensei Maurice and Alex have taught my sons several sets and forms in a short period of time and it's awesome to see the progress. He offers flexible practice days and times and even via Zoom if necessary. Maurice has a good line of communication with parents by always emailing or texting. His class rates are affordable! Highly recommend!

Maurice is a great martial arts instructor. My son loves coming to his class and has learned so much from him. Maurice is very encouraging and takes his time with every student of every learning stage. Very glad to have found an instructor my son looks forward to seeing.
