We've lived at Mesa Royale for 9 months and have no complaints at all. Our apartment (3 BR) is huge and is reasonably priced.
The staff consists of 3 very-responsive individuals. Work orders are completed as quickly as possible. Exterior issues are being handled: walkways are being repaired. The pool is being replastered. The landscaping is well maintained, and we love living on the short-nine golf course. The views are stunning!
The community includes a beauty salon with very-reasonable prices. It is a short walk across a side street to a large Fry's shopping center with the grocery and pharmacy. The shopping center includes a variety of restaurants. Fry's allows community residents to bring grocery carts back to their apartments, to unload their groceries and then to return the carts to one of several pick-up points in the community.
We're delighted with the friends we've made. Folks are fun and active + concerned for one another. We met most through the many activities not mentioned when we toured & rented.
Activities include water aerobics, putt-putt (with a course in the community), poker, bridge, a pool table and occasional entertainment.
We have a morning coffee hour with coffee choices provided. Four weekdays each week we have either home-made soup or a large salad bar for lunch. Dinners are twice a month and feature food from a variety of countries. All food is prepared by a staff member who is an honest-to-goodness chef. Meals are both nutritious and delicious.
It's no surprise that there are few-if-any vacancies at Mesa Royale. Most folks are happy campers.Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lori W.Berthoud, CO0115Nov 9, 2023
I have been living at Mesa Royale for six months and can say that I enjoy all of the professional staff doing their job so well to enhance our lives for 55+ residents living in peace and serenity. As an older person I've lived in many an apartment and so often the "management" has been awful. No reason to go in the examples. I'm sure you've experienced the same, or have had family and friends state that their apartment maintenance issues never get addressed or complaints responded to in a timely manner. Living here, I've called on maintenance three times, each time they come quickly do the job, professionally, and disappear! Check out the photos in Mesa Royale's website and you'll see exactly what you'll find when you visit. The public areas of the property are extremely clean and well-maintained. The buildings have been recently painted, which looks wonderful, the pool resurfaced, which looks wonderful. The management staff does respond to my request and needs quickly and professionally. I recommend for you to make time a visit to see for yourself.

We have lived here for three years now and we have likes and dislikes about M. R. Our likes are having a walk in shower not a tub which I think is very important for seniors and elevators. And though we have to pay extra for it we have a covered parking space. Also the square footage of the apartment and the amount of storage is exemplary. Other complexes in the valley don't compare. We also have a very nice laundry ROOM in our unit! It has a full size washer and dryer. We also have trash collection at our door five evenings a week!
The negatives while frustrating and disappointing do not out weigh the positives but they are as follows:
1. The landscapers who come once a week don't do a very good job of cleaning up grass after edging and mowing! They leave it in the parking area by the front curbing and along the curbs of the street. They also do a horrific job of pruning the shrubs. As a former gardener I have been horrified that they use hedge trimmers to trim the shrubs leaving them looking ragged. They also trim things very unevenly using the upside down vee shape which is slowly killing the plants!
As for the maintenance of the buildings it is very disappointing! There are items that are in very sad shape and not being taken care of. Case in point are the second level walkways and balcony floors. They are wooden structures that have some type of semi flexible coating on them. That coating in many areas is buckling and cracking. Where it is cracking it offers water intrusion when it rains. Management has publicly promised a plan for restoration of those surfaces but nothing has been done. I think ownership will finally make those repairs when there is a collapse and someone is badly injured and they are sued for those injuries. I know the manager has a long list of things to be done but so far no action has been taken!
Another disappointing item are the activities. While they have several organized activities they are not to everyone's interests and are not well attended though one activity was very well attended but has been cancelled. That was a regular Friday night dinner. The dining room was always packed and the food offerings though not exotic were tasty. But when Covid struck that was cancelled. Lately they have struggled with other dinners but were only twice a month and have now been cancelled. Used to have morning coffee's but that has been cancelled and substituted with lunches of soup some days and salads other days. We have not attended those because we are usually busy during that time frame.
We have have had increases in our rent at the last two renewals but they have been small in comparison to other complexes in the area and for that we have been thankful. Prior to the latest renewal of our contract I attempted to find a place that had similar space and amenities but was not impressed with what was available. Besides we have made some nice casual friendships here and would miss that. The prospect of that and moving again at our age is not something we would look forward to so we will stay here for the time being. And the knowledge that we would probably find things that would not be any better someplace else.
We do have a very nice staff at this complex and for that we are grateful but I think some of the issues would be taken care of if the ownership were more interested in maintaining the property rather than just making money on it.Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Daniel M.Mesa, AZ0234Nov 2, 2015First to Review
I lived here for one year and was able to begin the sign-up process remotely by using their online application system. Once I arrived in Arizona, the staff stayed 30 mins past the closing time in order to give me the keys and to do the walk-through. It was a pleasure getting on board.
Premises are kept clean and all amenities are available. The grill was my favorite spot to spend some weekend as you can have a beautiful view with palm trees and friendly folks playing golf. Neighbors were quite and Amazon could leave my packages at the door and I never lost a single package even though I work full time.
Move out was equally pleasant. I signed out, received a reasonable bill for items I did not clean as well as they expected. Since I did not have to leave a security deposit, I was sent an invoice and within a week I drove back to their office to pay it with a check. Staff was still friendly and happy I responded quickly. I would recommend this place to everyone : )Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 1
