Mr McKellar is a great guy and he teaches the kids respect and also makes them do their homework which is a plus! Love this place!

I really was impressed with this school! I took my granddaughter in and they really made us feel welcome, she was introduced to everyone in the class and then they gave her both class participation and the spent a great amount of one on one time with her to teach her the steps! I love the large space the students have and also the viewing area is GREAT! I recommend this business! Most importantly my granddaughter LOVES it!

So two days ago after my karate class I decided to drive past Mckellar's dojo. Long story short he noticed me in my uniform from a different school but my interest was sparked! So yesterday I happily walked in there to see what it was all about! And I quickly found out. No hi there hello just very unwelcoming. So I decide to sit down and watch, very respectfully of course I was quiet didn't say a word and was on my phone texting. Meanwhile the students are doing their thing and I can't help but notice that they are very low quality... It was disappointing but again not my place to judge. After about 15 minutes I was talking to a parent in the place asking him basic stuff like "how many belts are there?" Well the dark skinned head sensei or whatever they call him walks over to me and says are you the kid that drove by yesterday and stared in the class? I said no and before finishing he yells that I lied and demand that I get out!!! I was surprised at how good of an example he was setting for his students! Haha... Now back to the students being garbage. Honestly it's not their fault it is the teacher's lack of attention to detail. Now back to getting kicked out! So when I said no I didn't stop and stare into his class I wasn't lying because I just drove by. So it's curious to me that a sensei would show such disrespect to another martial artist. Well to me honestly I think he was embarrassed and thought I was being nosey. Whatever the reason was It could have been anyone who knows! Even threatened to call the cops and I was like wow that escalated quickly. Even when I tried to have an adult conversation with him he demanded I leave so I did exactly that. Enjoy your next visit to Mckellar's dojo. The black belt assistants that help out there are not quality, it is very disappointing that an establishment like this one is so poor.
I read your response and all I can say is wow! You have serious anger issues. You know how you acted. You were out of control. You must be very insecure. I totally understand your need to defend your business, but fabricating what happened in your response is pathetic. Also, implying that I am racist is just about as low as a person can go. I am not racist. My immediate and extended family is a mix of races, but how would you know? I believe it's just an attempt at blaming someone other than yourself. Like that kid was a racist so what he wrote couldn't be credible and what I wrote is pure fact. What a load of horse manure. I wrote my initial review because I was shocked by your ridiculous behavior during my visit. I don't believe that it is mere coincidence that my post of your behavior is similar to other posts.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi, my name is Tyrone Mckellar owner and chief instructor of Mckellar's Taekwondo. There are two sides to every story. Unfortunately, today we live in a society where people are uncivil and lack basic common courtesy and respect. I would like to defend the actions that were taken against this gentleman who left this comment.
On the first night in question, I was teaching my black belt class when my black belt students and I saw a red car pull into our parking lot. The car then parked directly in front of the school. The occupent of the car didn't get out but sat watching the class. I then noticed that the driver was wearing a martial arts uniform. At that moment when the occupent saw me look at him. He then started the car and quickly drove away.
The next day as I began to line up my intermediate / advanced class which starts at 6:15pm. I noticed a gentleman slip through the door as a group of parents were also entering the school. After we bowed in we began our warm up exercises. After the warm up and stretching routine we then began to have the students go through kicking drills on the clap paddles. As the students were going through the drill I noticed the gentleman talking to one of the students fathers? I have several teenaged girls in the class. I noticed that every time one particular girl would kick the pad he would give her a look as if he was flirting with her. I asked the son of the dad after he took his turn kicking the pad if he knew the gentleman sitting next to his dad. He answered, " no ! " I then asked the girl and she said yes that's Justin he goes to my school. After we finished the pad drill I gave the students a water break. As I do with anyone that walks into my school. I walked over to the gentleman and said, " how are you? I'm Tyrone. " He shook my hand. And I asked him kindly, " what brings you in today? Are you looking for information? " He said, that he was just checking out what we do. At that point it dawned on me that he was the same guy who had parked his car out front the previous night watching the class. I then asked him if he trains any where? He first said, no. Then he looked down at the floor and said, yes I do but not here. I then asked where he trains and he answered Stockton. I then asked, are you the same guy that was parked outside last night. He then said, no. I asked again, " are you sure that wasn't you? " Then he got hostile and swore it wasn't him. He bcame Irate and wanted to argue. At that point knowing he was not telling the truth. I said to him, that if you train some where already what brings you in here? I said, I know it was you in the car because I looked directly at you. I then said to him that if he had no real reason to be in the school I'm going to kindly ask you to leave. He then leaned towards me with his arms open and his fist clinched down by his sides as if to challenge me. And said No, I'm not leaving for what? I said because I asked you if that was you last night you lied about it. Which tells me that you are only here to cause problems. You need to leave. He then got irate and started arguing about it. Saying that he wasn't leaving. I then told him he has 10 seconds to walk out the door. He said, why, what are you going to do. I said, I am going to call the Lodi Police department who are right across the street and have them come and remove you. He then said you're going to call the cops. I said yes, now leave. I kept having to tell him over and over again. Then when saw that I was serious about calling the police. Then he wanted to come over and say, why are you acting like this. Can't we talk man to man. I said to him, We were talking man to man. I was very respectful to you. And you lied to me so you need to just leave. He finally walked out the door yelling no respect, no respect... He then stood outside the window knocking on the window trying to get the dad's attention that he was talking to saying, I told you, I told you! I then yelled for him to get away from the window and leave!
After looking on line today and seeing this comment that gentleman wrote. It is very clear that he had no good intentions from the very start. In fact, here in his comment he now admits that it was him outside the school that night. Also the fact that he went straight home to write this review proves that his intentions in coming into my school were not as innocent as he portrays here in this comment. I have a building full of parents and students that witnessed this incident and saw how disrespectful he was. And saw how he blatantly tried to challenge me in front of my students. When I didn't take the bait and said I would call the police he was very surprised.
One other thing I would like to mention is the fact he called me the dark skinned guy also tells me where this guy is coming from. It wasn't the school or the students abilities he had a problem with. This one comment makes it very clear what he truly had a problem with.
