I've been to Massage Envy twice and both times were great! Tiegan and Scott made me comfortable and more importantly took away my muscle aches.

I am a longtime member of Massage Envy at a couple locations. I have always been very satisfied with the therapists and the massages they provide in Normal. However the front desk needs help with scheduling.
Twice now I have gone in for my scheduled massage, have checked in and have waited for my therapist to take me back. It just happened again this morning. After waiting for about 10 minutes, the front desk tells me that my therapist isn't coming in. The therapist changed their schedule and was taking the day off.
The therapist isn't at fault here. The front desk is. I should have gotten a call to inform me that I needed to reschedule. Instead I got the customary reminders of my appointment and had no reason to suspect that I would instead be sent home very frustrated.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I am out of words for this company and they have lost a customer in me (they likely don't care). Long story short... my wife gifted me some of her massage credits. When I called in to set up an appointment there wasn't any availability for the type of masseuse and time I had available. I asked if my credits would expire and I was assured they would not. They also said they would call me should appt times become available, which never happened. I called earlier this week to set up a massage and was informed that my credits had expired... say what? Why is this just now being communicated? When I was assured this wouldn't happen? This company doesn't care to serve its customer and instead is wrapped up in the bureaucracy of fine print and doesn't stand by it's spoken word. Would advise not to do business with this company.

I should begin by saying that every massage therapist I have worked with at this location has been friendly, professional, and capable. However, as a member, this business' model feels distinctly like a scam.
I was just called and told that six months of appointments I had booked were canceled and that there are no available appointments that I can be offered (because they have no idea when appointments might be available again).
This is exactly how I've accrued 9 credits, which equates to having paid for nine services that have yet to be provided and that I cannot access; I have been canceled on last-minute multiple times (never with any possibility of rescheduling within the month) and have had many months when I am told (even when trying to book months in advance) that there are no available appointments. I have tried to book WAY in advance, but obviously that hasn't helped either. The fact that I am continually charged for a product they will not provide feels like fraud.
I have frozen my membership and will be lodging a complaint with the BBB, but I wonder if NBC 5 Investigates would be interested since it seems like I am not the only one dealing with this unethical set of practices. At the very least the negative publicity (and hopefully a terrible Yelp rating) might warn others away from this scam.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Nov 6, 2020Previous reviewTerrible! Terrible costumer service. Tried to cancel my membership months and months before they actually. Would paid for at least 4 messages totalling in 260$ only to not get anything out of it. Never went in because of the pandemic. They never confirmed they cancelled my memeber ship and did not even let me know the messages I had already paid for would or when they would expire. Stole my money and terrible service.

Pay for an hour massage and you only get 50 minutes. Happened to my wife and I on separate occasions with different people

I booked a 90 minute massage and when I arrived I was told there was a scheduling error and I only had a 60 minute (50 of actual hands on time). They did make it right by discounting the cost to the introductory price or offering to reschedule. I elected to have the 50 minute massage.
The massage itself was excellent. I had Jess and she was professional and the pressure was perfect. She made sure to tell me when the massage time was starting and when it would end which I appreciated. The massage was on-par with many other massages I had received.
I knocked a star off only because I do not enjoy the high pressure sale tactics to join as a member, and I felt the question on if I had a HSA was highly personal. I usually only go to massage envy when I receive a gift card due to being pressured to join. While I understand that's their business model, the last thing I want to discuss or think about is a contract when I'm relaxed.

The facility is nice, the receptionists are kind, but I am disappointed every single time I've gone here and it's been three times now. My masseuse used one motion in every spot he worked on and I asked three separate times for more pressure or a different spot worked on. I left more uncomfortable and, now, angry than I did walking in. It felt like a waste of my time.

So, I went for a massage and it was great. I did not choose to become a member because it was $$$ and did not meet my needs. When I called to inquire about a same day appointment because of some back pain, I was told that those slots are reserved for members, if that was something I would be interested in.
