7/29/2019I come to Dallas area often for work and this is one of my go-to BBQ joints. Amazing food and awesome service.

I did not enjoy anything that was served from this location. Well... pause. I enjoyed the service. That is the extra star. The Marconi was my first bite into sadness. It was mushy! It was the consistency of mashed potatoes. It was bland and cafeteria canned like. The beans were okay. The brisket was chewy and too lightly seasoned. I expected more from a specialty restaurant. The catering service is great too.

You know you have found a good place when you go back there two days in a row to eat!
This place is not fancy and it's not gourmet. It is just good down-home Texas style barbecue. In a world that has gone designer even in the barbecue realm, it is refreshing to come across some good old-fashioned barbecue.
There is nothing fancy there's no pretense, this is just good old fashion folks serving good old fashion barbecue on online. They have your standard fare of meats, That includes brisket ham chicken and turkey and pork. Do you have your choice between sandwiches and plates with a variety of sides. Besides include baked potatoes french fries fried okra pinto beings barbecue beans potato salad coleslaw and green beans. They also have cobbler and free ice cream.
6/12/2019On this visit I can only give two stars. I ordered the sandwich basket, smoked sausage with fries. Fries were perfect!! As for the sandwich itself, very bland and a rubbery texture much like bologna. Definitely could not eat it without bbq sauce, onions, pickles. Had the thick and smoky bbq sauce which was awesome. Even used some to finish off my fries. Also bunch of teens(employees) being loud and talking about betting $60 on the game on TV. I will say they were pleasant and not rude at all. Should have kept my $8.61 and ate somewhere else. Also the entire time I was there no one bothered to clean any of the tables, 40 minutes before leaving after some of there free yummy ice cream.

Marshall's can be a little hard to find and it's a little nondescript but it's well worth the effort. There's a bunch of free parking in the complex. Like a typical casual BBQ joint, you choose your meats and self-serve your sides. The brisket was tender and juicy. Great mac & cheese. There are like 7 different types of BBQ sauces for your tasting pleasure. There's even free soft serve vanilla ice cream. Not too many frills, but the prices are quite decent. The guys who work here are gosh darn friendly and make me want to come back.
1/28/2019As you walk in you get greeted by a very nice guy cutting meat. Portions are good and the meat is done right. Sides could be better.
The staff was defiantly the best part.
5/18/2019This restaurant had cold food, dry toast, dry brisket, and was overpriced for what you get. The baked potato counter as two sides but was really small.

I was in the Farmer's Branch area and decided to grab a bite and let the traffic clear before heading back to my side of town. I found Marshall's close by in a older, but busy, plaza. The lot is poorly lit, making it difficult to see what shops were in the plaza, but Marshall's is a large enough space that it stands out. The menu is a bit confusing. I typically want to try as many meats as possible on my first visit to a barbecue restaurant, but rather than 2-meat, 3-meat, etc, the menu lists; 1-Meat Dinner, Combo Plate, Sampler Plate, Big Tex. I assumed this to be 1,2,3 & 4 meat platters, but when a person in front of me ordered the sampler plate (assuming it was 3 meat) and only received 2 meats, he asked for an additional item and was a bit chastised - and was told that was a 3 meat combo (which isn't listed on the menu). Taking that cue, I asked for a "3 Meat Combo" with Brisket, Ribs and Sausage. The other two workers were extremely friendly and welcoming, and suggested various side dishes. There are many to choose from, but I selected the Potato Salad and Cole Slaw, again, the standards to compare against others. The dining area is large and comfortable, there are also statins with onions/peppers/pickles, and an assortment of sauces to meet your liking. Now to the food - the potato salad and cole slaw were not bad, but nothing special - similar to what I'd expect to get at the grocery. Of the meats, the stand out was the sliced brisket. I was concerned that it would be dry, by the looks of it, but it was tender and very flavorful, and a nice smoke ring for the connoisseur. The ribs had a sweet glaze, that was tasty, but not much meat on the rib to go with it, and the sausage was good, but not something that jumps out. It looks like they also have a spot for live music, I presume on weekends, so seems like a nice local spot. If I returned, I'd stick with the brisket, but it's a trip that I wouldn't make unless something else was bringing me to the area.
11/26/2018Today was my third trip to Marshall's BBQ, and it still rates sub par for me. As someone who frequents barbecue joints, and cooks it, I know it can be finicky - which is why I've tried it 3 times. Unfortunately, each time the meat has been dry, and ultimately flavorless. The environment is nice, not unlike a Dickey's BBQ, but the food just doesn't justify the pricing. The brisket is slices paper thin with no flavor, and sausage is dry. Their East Texas Tangy sauce isn't bad, but again, for 3 different visits I've seen no change it the quality of the meats. I would not recommend coming here if you're a habitual BBQ eater.
8/5/2018Delicious BBQ! They have a lot of good sides including fried to order okra. We'll be back!
4/26/2018Ive been eating at the BBQ establishment literally my entire life. I tend to compare all other bBq joints to it. The Josey shopping center location remains the best in my personal option. The variety of juicy meat, the plethora of amazing sides and the absolute stand out service is what keeps me coming back. The employees really seem to care about the customers and the business and the owners still come in daily to make sure the standards set forth are not only maintained but elevated to keep the customers happy. If you have an issue or question, simply ask and these employees with do everything in their power to make sure you enjoy your time there and keep coming back. Oh and there are no signs indicating where it's located so call them or if you are facing Ace Hardware or Dollar Tree, drive around to the back of those buildings and it's in the middle.

I give the food 4 stars for a home style BBQ place, although I'm not much of a 'lots of red meat' type of guy, I must admit that all the meats I tried were very good. I had the 2 meat plate with chicken and brisket. The second time I had brisket tacos. My friends had pulled pork, ribs and sausage and everybody agrees it was good.
The place has been here since 1965 and hasn't updated since but I guess it goes with the homestyle vibe ;).
2/7/2018Do not waste your time here, go to Spring Creek instead and get more for your time and money. This place used to be great back in the day but the younger generation has taken over and completely ruined it. Rude employees, over priced mediocre food, and horrendous atmosphere. The place looks awful, hope they didn't pay the decorator very much lol
3/24/2018We went around 7pm and they don't close until 9 and they had no sides left to choose from and they gave us really small portions. This girl name Tori was really rude and talked too much . I only like the marshalls in Carrollton this one sucks .

I like Marshall's. The meat is consistently above average. The sides are fine. The people are super nice. And the price is fair.
What more can you ask for from a neighborhood establishment? Maybe live country music and a quaint decor? Oh, they have that, too.
This place is comparable to Dickey's or Sonny Bryan's or Mike Anderson's or any of the other plate meal style BBQ places around the area. I don't think this is the type of place you need to drive out of your way to visit, but it beats the other options in the NW Dallas/Farmer's Branch area.
1/3/2018Very Good! I hadn't been here in years. We happened to be the neighborhood and stopped in. I had the bbq chicken plate included a 1/4 chicken with two sides. I chose butter beans and cole slaw. I really the smoke on the chicken. Cole slaw was fresh and the butter beans were a treat. We'll be back. We may even make the drive.

I hesitate to tell Yelp about this place because I want it all to myself! This is a little bit of small town in the city. The food is old school - pick your meat, serve yourself sides, AND then there is serve yourself ice cream! To top it off there is live music on the weekends - super fun!

Amazing local BBQ joint...great sides, free fried pie nights and of course free unlimited self serve ice cream at the end of your meal...what beats that?!?....loooooove the brisket too....omg, to die for ..
8/24/2017Went to Marshall's for the very first time and got the family meal. Went there with two friends and thought it was a better deal. Got the brisket, sausage, mac and cheese and pasta salad. The brisket was so soft and delicious. The mac was super creamy. We all left super stuffed but still had some room for an ice cream cone.
6/18/2017First timer! Great food and service. We had baked potatoes, coleslaw, chopped brisket, chopped chicken, and turkey. Place was good!
