Marlena Joy Beauty Studio

I have been so slow to find a haircare partner since moving from Seattle (a long time ago, sadly). I am so happy to have found a post for Marlena's studio. What a wonderful first experience. *Note while she is a curly hair specialist, all hair types are welcome.
I transitioned from relaxed hair to natural hair before moving to the dry desert. In addition to the lack of humidity the water in the Valleyis so hard and wreaked havoc on my hair. I feel confident in her ability to manage my hair needs moving forward. I felt very cared for, and I'm so pleased with how light and amazing my hair feels. I've already scheduled my next appointment! I might just add a manicure too!

The Studio is located in downtown Palm Springs with close and convenient parking.

I have been to many stylists over the years that specialize in curly hair and never found anyone that was as good at her craft as Marlena. I do not live in the desert and would drive as far as it takes to have her do my hair.

She is an expert in color, cuts and styling. She's darling and very professional. You can count it to be true the time she posts for her services.

I am new to the Palm Springs area and I've been looking for a new hair stylist that specializes in curly hair. I found Marlena joy studio on yelp and I am so happy I did! I had my first appointment yesterday & she did a color for my grays & I got a trim. I was impressed that she cut my hair dry, which showed that she understands how to work with curly hair. It's a bonus that Marlena is so sweet and personable as well . I already made another appointment to come back next month .

Marlena is amazing , she provided me with instructions via web and verbally went over them with me . This was my 2nd time getting a keratin treatment- no frizz - the first time I received level 2 , my second time I received level 3 - I'm so happen with both levels . My recommendation for going to see her for the first time is to tell her exactly what your trying to achieve. Show examples. Marlena is so easy to talk too . Do not be shy .

I look forward to my hair appointments every time! From beginning to end, I feel comfortable with her hair advise and techniques. If I come in with unrealistic hair ideas, she will let me know lol Whatever hair color or style you decide on, she will get you there with minimal hair damage. I really appreciate the research she does when it comes to the hair companies and their products.

Love working with Marlena! I had my previous hairdresser for more than 20 years so when I moved to California I was very nervous to find someone new. I was very fortunate to find Marlena. I love the way she cuts and colors my hair but even more than that, she goes out of her way to take care of whatever comes up. With all the Covid changes she made special arrangements for supplies and appointments. She is truly fantastic. ;-)

Marlena saved the day!!! I was in Palm Springs a couple weeks ago for a girls weekend. I reached out to Marlena last minute for an appointment and she was able to fit me in. She did an amazing job and was super sweet. I am a woman of color and she was able to get my hair super straight. I hope to visit her again in the future!

I am multicultural and have VERY curly hair. I prefer to get a press and curl by hair dressers that are used to my texture. I've had so many people say they can do my hair but really have no idea. Well Marlena works miracles and exceeded my expectations. She called and did a virtual consult. When I arrived she was ready for me and she started on my hair right away. She blow dried my hair straighter than anyone ever has and flat ironed it bone straight just how I wanted it. She is so sweet and professional. I can't wait to go back.

I absolutely love Marlena! She is very professional! I always leave loving my hair so much. I have very bleach blond hair...she shows me tips and tricks to make my hair look new and healthy. I highly recommend her! Thank you Marlena!
