I have nothing but praise for Marinos. Not only is it authentic Italian cuisine, the service is outstanding. Â They are extended family. Â Mark, Sue, Camille, and the entire gang are Most Excellent! I was so happy to be able to take Vera , and Little Darina there as well. They love them too! It's like a scene right out of A Wonderful Life! We need more family run businesses like these. Thank you Marinos!
That's Amore!

I have driven past this neighborhood Italian restaurant on numerous occasions. I finally decided to come one evening to pick up some food to-go. There is no dedicated parking lot so finding a curbside spot along Ingraham/Garnet/Grand can be difficult. A small party was seated inside when I walked in so they are accepting limited dine-in customers. The interior looked cozy so it's too bad that operations are not allowed to run at full capacity during this time.
The items I chose were an Italian Sausage sandwich and a full order of Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and one meatball. A piece of garlic bread was included. The sandwich was simply sausage patties in between a bread roll. There was no cheese or sauce added which made it quite plain. The spaghetti dish was as expected with a medium size meatball planted among the noodles. I sprinkled some grated parmesan cheese from my pantry as no packets were provided.
Based on the prices and the quality and quantity of food, I rated my experience at Marino's with three stars. - Ryan M.San Diego, CA62033/9/2022
Had the best pizza around. Will miss the staff. Camille was the best! Hope she reads this and is doing well! Will miss this place so much. Such great memories. Came here in 1999 when I lived on hornblend street. Sad to see it go. Hope everyone there has moved on to bigger and better things!

The service was the best part of my meal , the food was undesirable and very disappointing.
The tomato sauce and spaghetti was bland , the sausage was not good to be kind.
Minestrone was average at best .
I enjoyed the meatball and the salad with Italian dressing.
As an Italian American the food here is nothing close to being authentic in any way , unfortunately the great people in San Diego still don't understand quality Italian food but someday they will .
I will not be returning to this restaurant - Kelly S.San Diego, CA5835311133/2/2020
I have my favorite Italian restaurants that I go to allll the time...but, you know how it's nice to shake things up once in a while? I decided to give Marino's a try instead of going to my favorite family style pizza place. I figured it was a pretty safe choice since they have been in business for a very long time.
I came here at dinner time with two other diners. We had a meatball/black olive pizza, mushroom pasta and lasagna. The food was delicious! The lasagna was just the way I like it...piping hot with cheese and sauce that bubbles up around the edges. The pizza was also very tasty with a light crunchy crust.
The service was friendly and efficient. Our waiter had the timing down perfectly. You can tell that he's been doing this for a while.
I have a feeling this will now be on our regular rotation of favorite Italian restaurants. - Bruce E.San Diego, CA29312/1/2021
I've been going to Marino's Pizza since the late 60's. My stepdad would take me most Monday nights to pick up pizza to watch Monday Night Football. As I got older, I would always take my friends and family to visit and for special events in my life. I loved the piano guy they used to have there. I loved the casual PB wait staff. Loved the decor, the big painting, the romantic table for two near the door. The pizza was fantastic, my favorite. The atmosphere was always fun. I almost cried when I saw it was closed. It was an institution in PB. PB will never be the same without it. My thanks goes out to the owners and staff. Thanks for all the great memories. You will very much be missed.

Love this place !
Super old school Italian. We had pasta that tasted homemade, loved the Italian salad dressing and the minestrone was super delicious- I want to go back and get a huge bowl ! The service was excellent - very attentive and friendly. Definitely check this place out ! - Adam G.San Diego, CA821242111/3/2019
The definition of a cozy neighborhood joint.
Look, the food is good. Not incredible, not worth traveling across the county for, not worth canceling your current anniversary dinner plans over. But the charm and friendly vibe of this place is so welcoming. It's hard to find neighborhood joints like this in San Diego. Marino's reminds me of the family-run Italian, Hungarian and Polish restaurants back in the Midwest.
Super personable and sweet service. Prices are extremely reasonable. And this is not to sell the food short. The pasta dishes I've tried have been really good. I like my tomato sauce a little thicker. But I'm looking forward to trying their pizzas and sandwiches in the future.
I really hope this place doesn't get priced out of the area. Bravo, Marino's, and keep doing what you're doing! - Don L.San Diego, CA444528/11/2021Updated review
An update during COVID. Marc and his staff made it through with all of us getting to go food. I am sure glad. This is place for honest and flavorful pasta. I am pretty much still in love with their meat lasagna and spaghetti with meat sauce. Consider getting extra sauce to make a few meals with it. Suggest getting dinners. Then you have two large meals. Eat the cold salad nite #1 and microwave the soup #2. They work hard to make this food themselves just like my grandfather from Cerda, Sicily .
5/19/2019Previous reviewI have been shoveling down their lasagna for 30 years and not only am I still alive, I am much happier for doing so. Â Only in the last few years have I been willing to explore a few other items. Â My wife, as a vegetarian and a picky picky one at that, loves the marinara spaghetti and cheese ravioli combo dinner. Â Even the simple cabbage soup that comes with dinner is just wonderful. Â The simple salad with a special blue cheese is tremendous. Â The garlic bread is good enough to turn you into 300#. Â Recently, I have tried the amazing pasta with meat sauce, and it is as good as anything on either side of the Atlantic. Â I asked for extra sauce and it is just the best. Â I have never tasted better. Â Mark and his crew always are a joy to see and talk with - we go back many years. Â We did try their pizza once and it was also very good, but our usual dinners are so good, we just cannot pry ourselves away to wander around the menu. Â Pacific Beach is very lucky to have this restaurant. Â Often, we will just get our dinners to go, which they are happy to do, but it is charming to eat there as well. Â The three dinners I have mentioned here add up to $50 and it takes us three nights to eat it all. Â It is a bargain and we feel fortunate to be able to enjoy such great food.
