¡Hola! Que Paso? Dios mio. I fell in love with pan de horno and empanadas at Marine's Empanadas, Columbian style.
I had a candid conversation with owner Julio. As many reviewers mentioned, a similar named restaurant a mile away. His sister was one of the owners at Marini Empanadas, which serves Argentine-style empanadas. After she parted from there, she opened this one with few letter changes. I was curious because Marine is an English word. I had to ask why.
I have close tie with Columbians. My nieces are half Chinese half Columbiana. I had a few Hispanic friends when I was in college that were from Columbia. And, I have easier time speaking Spanish to Columbians than anywhere else. The employees here are really down to earth friendly, muy amable.
I adore the interior. They got patio seating. Definitely dog friendly. As we were roaming around the restaurant, we saw the nativity scene. Julio said they will finish installing this weekend and ready for the holidays.
My favorite is the pan de horno, the cheese roll. It reminds me of chipa from Paraguay. Mmm... Don't get me started. I'm drooling just thinking about them. Gotta get some for the road. - R J.Houston, TX02622Dec 13, 2023
Attractive, small, neighborhood strip mall restaurant that was almost full at our late lunch hour visit. Unfortunately, we were completely disappointed in the Empanadas. Heavy, thick, flavorless crust, & the only taste was from the grease in which it had been fried which was also a negative. Meat Empanadas had VERY LITTLE filling that was at least 1/2 potato. Would not return, but wish them well.

Marines is def a spot to check out when you're in the mood for some authentic empanadas. The beef empanada with fried onions is too good. Not sure what the green sauce is that comes with the savory empanadas but it paired very well. Also tried the dulce de leche empanada, it was tasty just not one that I would order again if it was up to me. Also had Tia Maria (shredded beef) and it was super good! Overall this spot is a tastebud pleaser! Check it out next time you're on the southwest side of Houston.

I really liked the inside of the empanadas. The Guava and cheese seemed to be more mozzarella instead of cream cheese so I was alittle disappointed with that one. The pastry was not as soft and flaky as I hoped for but more of a thin hard breading. I am still on the hunt for the best empanadas in Houston.

Tried a combo menu for the first time and love it. I liked the ambiance and the owner of the store was so kind and caring.

This place is Heaven. Found this place and ordered 6 different empanadas. 2 of each so I could get the good taste. Each one of them were amazing. Not one flawed me. I will be back.
They all had good flavor.
Meat was not over cooked.
Empanada crust was perfect to the bite. Nice crispy but yet still having texture to support the filling.
The ladies were amazing and very helpful from start to finish. Treated you like family right away. Places like this need to live on past these big chains.

They sell old bread and they don't care. I spent around $25 on bread and I had to throw must of it away.
Ellos venden pan viejo y no les importa. En estos días compré como $25 en puro pan y estaba tan duro y maluco que me tocó botarlo. - Laura D.Houston, TX2421Jul 26, 2022
Horrible empanadas with cartilage and bone inside almost threw up!!!!
No entiendo como empanadas pueden quedar tan mal. La de pollo estaba llena de pellejos y huesos!!! Y la de res aguada llena de cebolla aguada y la masa medio cruda. Casi vomito con un bocado que horror .

These empanadas are delicious! Pictured are the Empanadas Colombianas, which are stuffed with meat and potatoes, and have a hearty flavor. They are just the right size and leave you feeling satisfied. Mil Hojas are a little messy to eat and the layers are baked perfectly, making this the ideal dessert for your sweet tooth!
