Q:
I heard lately there's an old guy there that brings his dog where his dog terrorizes other dogs. Is this currently still happening and what lengths can I go to protect my dog?
A:
We went to the park today and didn't have any issues! There weren't many dogs in the big area so we took ours to the timid section (she's 15 pounds). Nonetheless, I could tell all the dogs were doing fine in both areas. No old man on Sundays perhaps?

This is a decent park just glad to have one in Maricopa. In the active side the storm drains bring in garbage. The active and passive sides are pretty much the same size. The drinking fountain for the pups hasn't work for awhile so bring your own bowl and water.

Great park with a nice group of regulars that take responsibility for their dogs.
Problems arise when new dogs are brought in with irresponsible owners. Although dogs aren't required to be spay or neutered to be in the park, they should be.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Amy F.INFONAVIT Ciudad Industrial, Villahermosa, Mexico012Jan 11, 2020
It's a pretty ok dog park but the grass is dead and ugly. My dog likes it here he has all the space he needs and he can play with other dogs but it would be better if they could add more stuff like a small pool or a agility set. That's all I really have too say.

Very well kept park! Very clean and green. There's an area for smaller dogs too, which we appreciated. Great trails around the park as well. Highly recommend

This is great dog park. I hear it is new and you can tell. The space is huge and wide open, lots of grass cut nicely all over. There is a separation for big and small dogs. I didn't see any poop anywhere! It was the cleanest dog park I've been to. I'm hoping people keep it up. I saw someone walking around with a pooper scooper picking up poop. He was not an employee, just a visitor to the park. I was impressed that people take pride and care about their community enough to pick up other dogs' poop. You would be surprised but this has never been witnessed by me before at dog parks in other cities.
The people who took their dogs here had very very mellow dogs. At one point there were about 10 dogs but all of them were so low key and relaxed, it was a nice change from what I typically see.
It's great that the people who go there and the looks of the place is kept up and that is appreciated. I hate feeling like my dog left a dog park stepping on poop and is all dirty after, not the case here.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Melanie W.Chandler, AZ174371Aug 31, 2018
My dogs love this dog park. It is absolutely huge so there is tons of room for a bunch of dogs to run and play. I wish there was more shade or trees but it's a great park that my huskies always have such a great time playing at.

Be careful of this park when there are big dogs in the timid area. My Lhasa was attacked by 5 pittbulls in the timid area. The owners assured me that their dogs were timid and well behaved. We were there for only 5 minutes when this happened. I love pittbulls but you can't trust that they won't attack.

A new doggie park just opened in town! I'm not sure why they waited THIS long to open one when there's so many people with dogs! I mean Maricopa is the "fastest growing" city since 2003.
This dog park is very spacious and big. There's two sides: one for small dogs and one for big dogs. This is excellent, less dogs getting hurt! It's mostly a grass field but lined with some rocks/dirt along the perimeter which is really nice. There's only 1 water fountain which is at the entrance of the park. They should have one on each end so that the dogs can have quick water access. What I noticed about the water fountains is that it doesn't drain the water as quick. There's a bowl/tray so that some water stays in the bowl for your dog to drink. That's so awesome, I don't see many dog parks with this. The water stream is very low though. Along the park, there's several trashcans and poop bags for you to pick up after your dog. There's also a pooper-scooper hung to a tree by the entrance if you prefer that. People have been bringing tennis balls and leaving them there! How nice, dogs can play fetch!
This is a great spacious dog park. But several things to improve on:
1. Plant some trees - dogs and dog owners need shade on hot days
2. Insert more tables/benches/chairs - great for dog owners to sit down
3. Build a restroom - There's no restroom nearby so you'll have to do your business at home.
Even though it just opened, it has been very popular and active. The dog park is lit up at night but I'm not sure what time they shut the lights off. Come check it out, there's a spacious parking lot waiting for you with lots of doggie friends to make.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
