End to end the best decision i've ever made. 22 Years old and have been waiting for this surgery since I found out it existed. Entirely changed my life and I am forever grateful to the head doctor there.

Procedure was completely painless and took like 10 minutes, I could already see better when I got up from the table.

If you are thinking about getting SMILE and are as nervous as I was about doing it, this review is for you! I cannot speak more highly of my experience with Manhattan Lasik and Dr. Niksarli.

Before my appointment:
I had a phone consultation, had all my questions answered, and scheduled my surgery about a month in advance at the Paramus, NJ location. Although excited, every time I told people I was having it done, I followed it up with "...if I don't chicken out." All this to say: I am a big weenie, so when I tell you if I can do it, anyone can - I mean it!

Before the Surgery:
When I arrived at the center it was very welcoming, as were the people. Literally everyone was incredibly nice! First, they did a quick test to make sure I was a candidate for SMILE. Next, I squared away the paperwork, payment, and received my post-op instructions. Then Dr. Niksarli himself tested my prescription and fine-tuned it before surgery.

They gave me the standard dose of medication to help me relax, but I was still extremely nervous. They gave me more medication and more time, and Dr. Niksarli assured me they would not take me back until I was 100% comfortable. I even heard him tell his assistant to take extra good care of me because I was so nervous. I was so heart-warmed by how kind and understanding everyone was - I was never once made to feel like I was holding anyone up, or that my anxiety was silly, or anything like that. I can't tell you how much I appreciated that!

The Surgery:
First, the doctor's assistant went over everything I needed to know & what I should expect. She gave me a little post-op care bag with two kinds of eye drops (medicated for the first few days, and artificial tears to use as needed), heavy duty sunglasses, and a Tylenol PM to take that evening to help me rest. She gave me a teddy bear to hold and a blanket to keep me warm. She also told me a little about the devices they were going to use to keep my eyes open, which was what I was most nervous about. She assured me that it would not be uncomfortable, and that I could still blink, and it would move with me. She was 100% right - I barely felt like I had anything there at all and felt absolutely no discomfort whatsoever at any point.

When the doctor came in, he was again very warm and kind. They do one eye at a time, and the eye not being worked on is kept closed. I cannot emphasize enough how gentle and light of hand Dr. Niksarli was - even the simple task of moving my eyelashes so they didn't get caught was so gentle! The first part is the laser, which only lasts about 30 seconds per eye, and you literally feel NOTHING. All you do is look at a red dot - that's it! Then they close that eye and do the same thing to the other. The second step, you look at a bright white light instead of a red dot, and everything is blurry, so you don't see anything but the light. Dr. Niksarli talked to me throughout the entire thing, and told me how great I was doing, which was very comforting. Before I knew it, we were done! The whole thing lasted maybe 20-25 minutes.

After the surgery:
I was tired afterwards, so when I got home, I went right to sleep. I woke up to eat some dinner and then went back to bed. My vision was immediately clear, aside from some blurring around the edges. My eyes felt a little irritated for the first couple of days, as if I had an eyelash in my eye. By Day 3, the eyelash feeling was gone, as were the blurry edges. The only thing I had that first week was some dry eye and sensitivity to light. I made good use of the solar shield glasses, as well as the artificial tears.

Two weeks later:
I went in for my post-op follow-up and went to the NYC location this time. By this point, I was already seeing great - my left eye was 100% perfect, and my right eye was only slightly less clear, but not significantly. Dr. Niksarli had a quick look at everything and assured me that the right eye would continue to improve as my eyes stabilized. He was right - it's been about a month since my follow-up, and it has only continued to improve, and my vision is basically perfect. He told me to schedule another follow-up for 2 months later, so I will go back in about a month.

If you are on the fence or feeling nervous, take this as your sign to DO IT! I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Trust me when I say you'll come out of there thinking, "that was it?" Thank you so much, Dr. Niksarli and team - this was a life-changing experience, and I am so grateful not only for my sight, but for being made to feel so comfortable and well taken care of. Thank you for everything!!

My daughter and I are smiling and screaming the awesomeness of Manhattan Lasik Center. We did our procedure one after the other, and less than 24 hours later we can see, drive, were both back to work the next day. The staff was caring, patient, and Thai put our mind at ease from the onset. Dr. N did both of our procedures and made us feel comfortable the entire time. Highly, highly recommend! We both have been wearing glasses since we were 9 ....

Amazing doctor and staff. I flew to NY all the way from MT for the eye color changing procedure. The staff checked in with me multiple times months before I even came and were a amazing help while I was there. The surgery was quick and painless and done within a hour. I was overly worried at times but the doctor made all the time in the world fro me. He even came into his office on his day off at 9:30pm to make sure everything was ok. AMAZING PLACE. 100% recommend

It's been a little over two week since my SMILE surgery at MLC in Manhattan. I got my procedure done by Dr. Buchsbaum. He's a great guy and really took the time explaining and walking me through the procedure.

I like that he quadruple checked some tests before moving forward because he likes being precise, which is very important since it is related to our eyes!

During the procedure, he explained to me what I would see and it really kept me calm knowing what to expect. The whole surgery took under 15 minutes and I was able to see the next day. Very strange and magical experience. I highly recommend Dr. Buchsbaum.

MLC and Dr. Buchsbaum also gave me a call the next day to check up on me to make sure everything was good.

Did a virtual consultation for SMILE over the phone and was able to schedule my appointment for 2 weeks later (only because I have astigmatism and needed to stay out of my contact lenses 2 weeks!). They answered all my questions about payment and recovery time.

- Procedure itself: 5/5
Had my SMILE procedure done yesterday at 6pm. It's 2pm the day after and I can see very well! Yes, there is some eye dryness but that's to be expected and my vision will improve over the next few weeks. I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN THIS PROCEDURE DONE SOONER!

- Office Staff: 5/5
I was immediately at ease when I entered the office. Ty ran some tests, answered all of my questions and made me feel super comfortable. Then Dr. Buchsbaum performed a thorough eye examination before performing the surgery. The actual laser portion of the surgery is less than 15 seconds. He talked me through the entire thing and always made sure I was doing OK. I COULD NOT RECOMMEND COMING HERE ENOUGH FOR YOUR SMILE OR LASIK NEEDS. The entire office staff is extremely patient, thorough, polite, and caring.

- I will be back in 2 weeks for a follow up appointment. I am excited to go back and see Dr. Buchsbaum so I can thank him profusely!!!!

Tip:
- If you are referred by somebody who get their LASIK or SMILE procedure done here, you get $100 off your surgery and the person who referred you gets $200 credited onto their credit card. HOW GREAT IS THAT!!!!!
- I've been wearing glasses/contacts for 25+ years. If you're on the fence about getting SMILE or LASIK because you're scared, get it done here-- they will put you at ease and you will NOT regret it.
