Mama's Pizza Italian Restaurant

Went to Mamas today after a youth baseball game. Had about 25 of us and the staff did a wonderful job. Ordered pizzas for the kids. Parents ordered meals and all came out at the same time and were delish. Drinks were always topped off. I had the baked ziti and it hit the spot! It is always nice to get great service at a restaurant as many don't provide that experience anymore. Well done Mamas staff we will be back again! Would have been 5 stars but the restaurant could use a little TLC. Appears it hasn't been remodeled in about 30 years.

The food is always delicious and the servers are always friendly. Love this place! I eat here several times a month.

Have gotten take out many times. Decided to eat at the restaurant today.
Worst decision possible. Over 35 mins to get 3 meals. They made about 20 pizza's while sat waiting. After 20 mins they said our food was being plated. Almost 20 mins later most of it showed up.
The food we pick up from them is 10x better, but it'll be a long time before that happens again.

Always a great time visiting my childhood pizza joint. I prob ate their pizza one time but it's always the Stromboli for me and my fam. Can't go wrong with that item. The dough is freshly made, the ingredients are well represented inside, the cheese pull is legendary, and the sauce is perfect. Washed it all down with a frozen mug of beer. Everytime you get a new draft..a new frozen mug is delivered with your beverage of choice chilling inside. There is only a few places of culture in Tarboro and this is a must stop.

The atmosphere has the vibe of an old rustic bar. I question whether it's smart to have carpet flooring. The food was okay. I ordered the chicken piccata, and while the sauce was decent with enough lemon flavor, the mushrooms were canned. CANNED. It honestly made the dish worse. Freshly seared mushrooms can make or break the experience. Took off one star for the off-putting environment. Another star for my disappointing canned mushrooms. I'm sorry, I just can't get over the fact that the mushrooms were from a can.

Had the stromboli on special today. It was delicious! Very glad I stopped in. Service was very nice, although a little bit slow, but we have to remember that it's not a fast food place, so I appreciate the time taken to make it fresh!

Not a warm environment.. I walked in and no one spoke... this isn't the first time.. two ladies where helpings one other lady.. I'm like doesn't it take two ppl to look at a price.... (rolls eyes) as I wait 5 mins the girl finally says "you got a Togo order"? I'm like uh yeah.. after a 20mins time trying to get my order.. I'm never going to give my time or money to this place again... it's sad you would think as slow as it was they would be ready and have a smile. No dry and no emotion. Thanks but no thanks !!!

Mama's is one of my favorite places to go in Tarboro! If you're looking for Americanized Italian comfort food, look no further! Look past its strip mall exterior. Trust me, you're in for a real treat.

What you need to get: the pollo al prosciutto, aka "chicken crack" in my family. This dish, chicken and prosciutto in a creamy, vodka "pink" sauce, is dangerously good. Sub the side of spaghetti for penne with meat sauce. Split this between two people and you'll have more than enough food to go around. Enjoy with a Peroni! Salute!!

Eat there at your own risk. My mom had bought me some chicken wings, I ate them and hours later I was throwing up and taken to the emergency room. I know it was the chicken wings that made me sick because it was the only thing I ate that day for dinner. I WILL NEVER EAT AT THAT ESTABLISHMENT AGAIN.

Had a taste for garlic bread to go with some homemade pasta, and remembered that we liked Mama's when we lived here three years ago. Very small portion for the price. Taste was so-so.
