Maldini's Ristorante Italiano

This place was a solid delivery. The price was higher than other Italian joints we've gotten food from, so I marked them down a star for that. Solid food though.

Pasta was a hit. The Alfredo expert in the house (11 year old daughter) says it's above medium good.

Pizza was solid 8.1 out of 10. Recommend the margarita pizza.

Everyone has a favorite restaurant, this is my boyfriend's dad's favorite restaurant. Back when I moved here in 2019, his family and I used to come to this spot for every special occasion. It was his dad's favorite local business, and it still is to this day. I really love Maldini's Italian market section and their special mission during Christmas. Their prices here are pretty good and the service is usually nice too.

We hadn't been back in a while, but we went back last night for the dad's birthday. If you're looking for cheap food, this is the spot for you. While the food isn't necessarily my favorite here, they still have a lot of dishes to pick from. On this visit, I got the ravioli de formaggio. I found that it had too much sauce and was heavy on the plain cheese flavor. I did like that there was sage in it and that the pasta was cooked al dente. I also got a side Caesar salad, which was fine. Our waitress was super kind to bring out a cheesecake with a candle and balloon for his birthday at the end of the meal. They know how to make you feel special here for a birthday.

We went for a date night meal last night. I ordered cheese ravioli with vodka sauce. The waitress was lacking enthusiasm. We places our order and received bread with butter packs. My dish arrived and it was meat ravioli. I sent it back. My partner then had a hot meal while I had nothing. My dish arrived. This time the ravioli was correct but the sauce was different. I ate two and boxed up the rest as my partner was done eating. When reheating the leftovers this morning I see 2 short dark hairs in the sauce. It is nothing like my hair. I think the quality and service here have gone downhill. There was no apology for the mistake in my order. . It's also surprising that a small salad doesn't come with the entrees. The good news there is plenty of parking.

Calzone and Stromboli is excellent and crust is perfect, light and fresh ingredients. Cappella is light fresh and the best ever. Service is really good.

No passion for food here. I keep coming back here hoping that something is going to change. This is a place to get pizza although the zuppa Depeche has promised most of the time it lacks seafood.

Lamb was great!!!! Service was good!!!! I will be back. My friend and family had a great time and enjoyed ourselves.

We were seated at 7 on a Thursday. There were a few other parties in the restaurant. Our order was taken promptly. We were busy chatting, catching up, and then realized that a lot of time had gone by with no food. A LOT - like an hour. When we checked in with our waiter, he was very apologetic and said that the kitchen had been busy with take out and delivery orders. They hadn't even begun to work on our food. We did have delicious rolls (almost croissant-like) but didn't want to fill up,

It took about another 30 minutes for our food to finally come out. Thank goodness it was yummy.

My friend had the whole branzino with potatoes and really enjoyed. My son devoured his entire large cheese pizza. I had the linguine pescatore which was really superb with lots of fresh fish and shellfish.

I would have given the restaurant 4 stars for food, but the fact that they had even started out order after an hour was inexcusable. Our waiter Zeljko was profusely apologetic, but they really need to get their act together.

All roads lead here when looking for great Italian eats and pizza when in the Richmond, VA area! Do not be deceived by the unassuming appearance or drab outside look of this place. The food here is outstanding!...Double Thumbs Up!!

Maldini's is a unique gem and find that I discovered and couple of years ago when I was in Richmond for a music festival and have been hooked ever since! I actually look forward to stopping by here at least for the pizzas and the crazy delicious carrot cake when in town visiting family. The food is amazing and the vibe is so much like a family dining experience.

They menu is full of lots of great choices; including vegetarian and vegan items. There is a bar with a great selection of wines. There is eve a small deli/gift shop with really cool local finds, cheeses, and meats to go.

This place is huge both on the portions and flavors for such a small restaurant. From brick oven pizzas to homemade pasta, stuffed-shell dishes and lasagna, the homemade bread and really tasty desserts....it's all good!.Its a great place for a quick meal or sit down dinner with a group or family.

My "go-to's" are the:

* Maldini Special Pizza -- Meat and veggie lovers look no further. This pizza satisfy all!

* Chicken Linguini w/ Shrimp -- Seasoned plump shrimp and a great Alfredo sauce that really heightens the dish.

* Carrot Cake...OMG!...This right here steals the show and a reason to come here alone!!

When I tell you the carrot cake is the bomb!...consider it an understatement. It is heaven!! 4 Layers of moist cake screaming with a symphony of carrot, carrot bits, pineapple flavor, cinnamon, nutmeg spice & and the perfect balance of cream cheese icing. Somebody's Grandma is truly in the kitchen, seriously putting their foot in the cake batter.

They also have delicious filling antipastos, subs and paninis. Meat, seafood items available as well. Definitely a "must try" restaurant on Richmond's Southside!

Great homemade Italian food, reasonable prices and excellent service. I had the homemade meat ravioli.

We first ate here several years ago and I'm not sure why it dropped from our radar so we have been back both for lunch and dinner. I had a craving for clams with linguine which didn't appear on the menu but I was still able to get this meal and it was every bit as my anticipation!
Plenty of space and a potential room for a larger group is in the back. Apparently, there is outside seating which we will try when it's a bit warmer.
