Had a fun time here for the new year (although my feet were killing me). I sooooo enjoyed that the crowed was veeeerrrrrrry mixed. Met a Georgetown Lawyer, students from the area, couple of street pharmacist, Instagram models/strippers and there are three floors to party with Caribbeans on the first floor and hip hop on the other two. Â (fragment sentence, don't judge me)
Three stars because its veerrrrrrrry dirty (bathroom and floors) and that alone made me want to limit my time here despite the good music that kept me dancing.

Terrible. Left before we even got in. Stood in line 10 minutes too long...there were about nine people ahead of us and the line was NOT budging. Advertised "free before 11pm", but staff had no plans on letting anyone in before then. Someone asked an employee when they were going to start letting people in and she said "I'm not sure, but the cut line is $80." Mind you it was 10:56 at this point. LMAO. I literally busted at laughing at that point.
The worst part was the fact that the staff was just chilling by the door....waiting until after 11 to let folks in so they could charge. Lol this place was a joke, I'm not one for standing in line OR paying to go anywhere, so we quickly left.
I think they act like this because it's usually 18+ and that age group is so pressed to go out that they'll withstand treatment like this. If you're 21+ like me skip this joint and head to K street.

Went here twice, first time had lots of fun. Mix of alcohol and close friends made this happen, second tiem fourth of July weekend it was just boring. Door staff is unfriendly.
Would never go back.

DJs play all hiphop/r&b. I appreciate the vibe--I'd label Lux a 'classy establishment' --thus, drinks are expen$ive. But people here are very polite--I don't think I got pushed/swiped even once. People are good about giving you personal space because there really is a lot of space...and this was on a Saturday night! There are 3 different 'areas' to dance, but 2 of them are connected (so 2 different DJs). The upper level has a set of stairs to a smaller bar/dance area, which has the same music as the upper level.
I do agree with some of the other reviews though--guys are thirsty, ha. But most of them were respectful. And sounds like if you DO invade personal space, people are itchin to fight, too?? It didn't seem tense when I went, but yea, floor was sparse. Personally...I like that.
They usually always have Sunday events, too, which is cool. And some pretty good performers show up there.
Cover was $15 last time I went, but they may increase as the night goes on--and it sounds like cover can either be inconsistent or has increased. Fridays 21+, Saturdays 21+, Sundays 18+: Guestlist free 9-11pm

The fact I went here once is a good way to illustrate the overall Lux experience.
Came here for a NYE celebration a couple years back when it was still a poppin place. My girl and I didn't have to wait in line and immediately went to take advantage of the open bar. They kinda screwed us around saying it was over when we clearly had a good 10 mins before it was over, but oh well. I will say Lux was HUGE. I didn't expect the different floors to have as much room and space as it did.
As we enjoy the night, I run into some old friends and am truly having a blast. However around 11:30ish the ratchets flood. SIGH. It was to the point I didn't even want to dance anymore because overly pressed creepers would slither up and try to hit me with their best game. Yuck. I knew I was over it when I did dance and a guy literally tried to finger me on the dance floor. YEP DEF TIME TO GO HOME.
I think back i the day it was a great competitor to Park, LOVE, etc but like LOVE this is an establishment best left in those glory days. It's sad to because the outside and inside actually look nice and the DJs are ok (from my experience and from what ive heard from others), but one time was good enough for me. BTW if you get there and they try to charge you a cover, just remember these words: NOT. WORTH. IT.

DON'T EVER LOSE ANYTHING HERE!! The customer service you receive is HORRIBLE!! I arrived in person, emailed, tweeted and called and have never gotten any type of response for a lost iPhone. Clearly it's in some hostesses purse by now.
Now to the club itself its big but clearly things need to be updated cause the second floor bounces. Yes bounces! Makes you feel really unsteady and as soon as you have a few drink your right your ass is hitting the floor. There are better places to party in DC. Skip this one!

I came here last night with some of my friends after we were very disappointed with our very short visit to BWX. Ladies were free before 12 but we got there a little bit after 12 so we had to pay 20 dollars for cover (after what we witnessed at BWX, I didn't even mind paying for cover). Not sure how much parking was but we managed to find a parking spot not too far away so we didn't have to pay. The line outside wasn't too bad which was good because it was raining and cold.
It was crowded inside (as expected because it was the Sigma's Centennial) so we had to fight our way through to the bar, while getting felt up numerous times. The drinks were $8, as expected, but it barely tasted like the bartender put any liquor in my drink. I ventured to the bar on the third floor and that bartender was more generous with the liquor so I got my drinks from her the rest of the night. The music variety was great!
The trip to the bathroom is a whole nother story. Pretty much, it was dudes posted up on the wall outside the women's bathroom sparkin up like its nothing. I got felt on comin in and out of the bathroom. Plus I got I got a contact high and it was hard to breath and I got dizzy. Staff kept walkin pass and not saying anything. Smh.
Overall, it was meh. Ratchets were everywhere and I didn't spot any bait :/ I would go back but I think I would need to drink a lot more before I get there because clearly I was still too sober for that experience.

Either than the fact that they dont follow their flyer advertisements for cover fee. This place was ok. Im gonna break down a Saturday Night for you.
The Line.
I waited about 10-15 minutes in line, which is actually great for a C grade club. They have a VIP express lane. In which you can pay double the cover to bypass the line or get VIP service.
The Cover
Although their flyer CLEARLY stated "Ladies Free til midnight" my friend and I get to the door and they're like $20 bucks EACH....I was like whaaaaaaaaat??? Let me speak to a manager. I shouldve approached the "shituation' with honey because when the Manager told me "Yea its 20" I got all Tasha Mack on his ass and threatened to report the business on yelp. lol After that vinegar episode he was really firm on his $20 a piece decision.
So we just sad there looking dumb, cause we had a whole night planned out and didnt count on that high of a cover charge. Then finally the bouncer calls us over "alright $20 for the both of you"
So technically they did compromise and we paid $10 a piece instead of twenty.
The People
My friend said the men were ok. I dont remember cause I was toasted from my open bar hop to Muse lounge (ooo that will be a seperate yelp review--check it out). She said they were "kinda thirsty". The girls were ok, nothing special. Honestly I think we were the hottest duo up in that thang haha! Some guy bought us drinks so its obviously true lol
The Drinks
Strong. Kinda too sweet. Cant tell you the price point because like I said we were the hottest thangs up in there and didnt pay.
Celebrity Cameo Appearance.
Apparently Karlie Redd was suppose to be in the hoooouse. I didnt see her but her twitter feed says she was there. But really Lux...Karlie Redd??!!? She is not even a D list celebrity. she a F list celeb haha!
The Crowd
It was a lil push n shove. But hey its a club with 4 levels find a spot or keep it moving.
The Building.
Man I was so gone so I dont remember but apparently it has 4 levels. On the first floor was reggae--very good. The second floo had some radio station music. 93.3??? IDK
Overall.
Not bad. But if you tryna get in for the freeskies...CARRY CASH cause like the manager said "its at their discretion"
Happy Clubbing!

WOW!
Lux has really fallen off big time. I dont know why but they just dont bring out the crowd they use to have. The crowd now is basically either old, ugly or ghetto people. I am not picky at all and can normally have a good time at any club but this spot is not like it use to. This was my friends and I "Friday Night Spot" not anymore. The girls are NOT even "Okay" in the face nor the body let alone good looking. The guys are mainly Park & Bar 7 rejects because they have on shorts, caps or something else that is clearly not in the dress code but LUX will let them in being as though they are basically desperate for people to come now days.
I am kind of bummed I had to write this review on LUX being as though this was my "#1 Favorite Club" but it's just not what it use to be. Rumor has it, there was a stabbing inside the club and thats how LUX lost most of it's elite clientele but I dont know if thats true or not. Maybe new management? new promoters? It is in great need of a pick me up!

I Dont know why people are complaining so much about LUX DC. Everytime I go I have a blast (maybe because I am always at a table). The club is big has 4 floors (including a VIP floor). I never waited in line so I dont really know how long that takes. But once you get in it is PACKED. I usually get there a little after midnight so its alot of people there.  First floor is usually Reggae, Second floor  is HIPHOP and so is the VIP floor on the Second floor and Third Floor is HIP HOP... I love the Third Floor lol. The drinks from the bar are watered down so if you go you need to buy a bottle but other than that LUX is a great club with great people that just want to have fun and dance. PLEASE DONT GO ON SUNDAY BECAUSE IT IS 18 AND UP!
Friday and Saturday are good nights to go but Saturday is the best night. Wizard Players and Raven players are usually there all the time and everyone seems totally nice. I havent seen a fight since I been going there and I been going for a while now.

I use to go to Lux every weekend but stopped going here is why. Their website online says that they open at 10pm, they dont start letting people in until 11:30pm....LITERALLY. Every weekend I would go by myself and would have to wait 1 hour or more just to get in.......and this is EVERY weekend. The bouncers at the front door seem more interested in checking out the females thats standing in line instead of focusing on their job. All in all, they do a good job with keeping the place clean. I always see the  cleaning crew checking to see if there are empty cups laying around or to see if anyone spilled their drinks. Its a spacious club, three floors to be exact. .......i would definitely recommend getting here early because the line gets pretty long on the weekends. Also, if you are into reggae the first floor is the reggae spot and you can meet people from the Islands.
