The Long Beach Tavern is best known as a lively dive bar, conveniently located to the Long Beach area. Enjoy a range of meals at a great price, from dairy specials, pizza, burgers and appetites. Many travelers and locals choose to take a scenic drive down the coast to visit the LBT to shoot some pool, a cold beer and a bite to eat.

Q:
Are there actually tables to eat at inside and are families with children ok to eat inside?
A:
There are tables inside to dine in. Unfortunately it is a bar so 21 and over only. There are many options in town for families.

Not a bit of a dive, this place IS a dive and they are proud of it! We steered away at first after looking at the menu which had only burgers and pizza for the most part. A guy coming out while we stood there said to us, "they got cold beer and good food", so after realizing that many places in town were closed on Wednesdays, we decided to give them a shot.
This place has not been remodeled since the 1970s and that's OK because they do not pretend to be anything they are not. This is a working tavern with beer, burgers, pizza and a cast of regulars who all know each other. The corner of the bar has a sign next to it saying: "RESERVED - Liars Corner", so I guess the guy and gal sitting there cannot be trusted to tell the truth. They have a decent selection of tap and bottled beers on-hand, so I got an IPA or two which were both cold and a decent value at $4.75 a pint.
We ordered two burgers, me a Double Burger ($8.50) with cheese ($1), bacon ($1.25), and a side of fries ($2.50) and my better half a Mushroom Swiss Burger ($8.25) with fries ($2.50). I could have probably gone with a single beef patty because there was so much meat, I could barely open my pie hole wide enough to bite the damn thing. The fries were supposed to be "beer battered" according to the menu, but they were closer to "shoestring" and straight out of a bag, being the only "disappointment" of the meal. My wife's $10.75 burger plate was much larger and tastier than the one we paid $2.25 more for just up the street a few nights before.

Great environment and really impressive service from Avery. She made our stop worth it and is the reason for this review. Thanks, girl! We will be back.

Definitely a place the locals go to get their early drink on. We got there around noon for a quick bite and a beer. Quick it was not. It took forever for anyone to acknowledge us when it was not that packed. We finally ordered a burger and chicken strips. I was parched by the time the beer arrived I almost went and poured it myself. The food arrived and it did not look appetizing. However it was pretty tasty. Our server was very nice in the long run. Our booth was duct taped together, definitely a dive but I can see why the locals love it here.

First time here but it won't be my last. Definitely hoping - although waitstaff was on it. Drink order was taken quickly and delivered just as fast. Ordered Nachos to share & they were tasty.

All their fish dinners come frozen and the fries are large cuts and were cold!

Back again! 2023 Washington State International Kite Festival in full swing. This is always our first stop. Great service, cold beer and a killer pizza! The perfect respite on a hot day at the beach. Come on in, you won't be disappointed!

Cold beer and big 'ol plate of fish and chips. She's having the shrimp Louie. Both are great! Get in here! You won't be disappointed!
Jun 6, 2022Previous reviewThis is our go to place after a long day of walking around downtown or spending the day at the beach. Good food, decent bar, cold beer. Very popular spot. Try the pizza! Oh, and we've been pretty lucky with the pull tabs, too!
Jun 3, 2022Previous reviewBack again. It's not a trip to Long Beach without a stop at the Long Beach Tavern! The best pizza around! Friendly, welcoming place. You won't regret stopping in here for a beverage and a snack.
Jun 13, 2021Previous reviewGreat little local watering hole. Good for the locals, but welcoming to the visitors as well. Friendly atmosphere, good bar food, and cold beer!
Jun 11, 2021Previous reviewJust what you'd expect from a tourist town tavern... down home hospitality, decent menu, really friendly staff, and good value for your dollar.

Something happened to their pizza...we ordered 2 large, 3 sodas and a pitcher of beer - $100 or so. Pizza crust was soggy and the toppings slid off. Have previously been and had fish and chowder, ordered pizza and all food was great. We bussed our own tables as we came in, ordered dinner at the bar and waited an hour for our pizzas to come up. Staff were enjoyable to chat up and it was a mellow evening.

Extremely poor service, empty drinks on the bar, and no acknowledgment after seating. I would dine and drink elsewhere.

This is place is right in the center of downtown Long Beach! Quite the spot! I was visiting a friend here and we came here to grab a few drinks before heading home. This place was pretty lit! Dive bar vibe! Local & tourist mixs. The drinks here are fairly cheap $5-6. You can't beat it anywhere else in the area I'm guessing. Didn't try the food but the drink are strong. The service are friendly. If anyone in town for some cheap drink and cozy dive bar vibe. This is the spot for you!

The perfect place for visiting tourists to mingle with the locals. Don't let the name fool you: This place is more than a tavern. The locals have made it their "go to place" for pizza and tasty seafood for years! Speaking of pizza.....they are HUGE! If you are adventurous, try the oyster or lobster toppings. A tavern with good wine? Yes!!! The staff are very efficient (it's a large place) and friendly. When busy, the wait time for food can be long but who cares? Kick back and enjoy your adult beverage of choice (full bar) while waiting: you won't be disappointed. I enjoyed the raw oyster shooters & large prawn cocktail.
