About the Business
Founded in 1923 as the first municipally-owned airport in California, Long Beach Airport (LGB) recently completed a revitalization to update its facilities. In 2012, a new passenger concourse opened to the public and has since garnered extensive praise for its modern design and architecture, local eateries and easygoing travel experience. Recently, both Fodor's Travel Guide and Yahoo Travel named LGB one of the top 10 terminals in the world, and Conde Nast Traveler readers voted LGB No. 4 in their annual Best Airports in America feature. Today, LGB offers non-stop service to many U.S. cities, and supports a healthy general aviation community with nearly 300,000 annual operations. The airport is also a source of substantial economic activity and employment, as well as a leader in maintaining a sustainable, environmentally-responsible operation. Does Long Beach airport have fast food restaurant?
A:
Hi! They have a couple of different food options, bars and some quick grab type places but I don't think they have any fast food restaurants inside the airport.

I had the pleasure of flying through LGB twice in the past few months, and my latest trip required an overnight stay at the airport. My flight came in from HNL at 8 pm and my next flight leaving for DEN departed at 7 am the next morning. Seeing as that funds were tight, I opted to "sleep" in the airport instead of getting a hotel for 8 hours. While trying to figure out where to go and how exactly I was going to accomplish this task, I ran into a city employee working for the airport named "Vee". I believe Vee is airport security, He was reassuring, kind, and communicative. He assured me that my stay would be unmolested and quiet. I felt secure and appreciated while having to stay overnight in Long Beach. Vee is an asset to Long Beach Airport and worthy of praise. If I ever find myself needing a place to stay in southern California, or needing an airport to connect with. I will always choose LGB and I will make sure to tell everyone about it.

If you have to go to the airport, this is how you do it. This is one of the few LA airports where you could arrive 30 minutes before (during non peak seasons/times) and you can probably make your flight. Going through TSA was quick and easy. Then it's a 5 minute max walk to your gate.
The staff can be hit or miss. But no one was overly rude and plenty of people were friendly. Parking in the lots is $20 (lot B) or $25 (lot A) a day based on proximity. Also tickets were cheaper here than other area airports. Keep in mind that they only have a few airlines that fly out of here.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 9, 2024
My airport is better than yours. (If you're not using this airport, of course.) This is absolutely the cutest, friendliest, and happiest airport!
This year for Valentine's Day, they had a poet with an old fashioned typewriter creating individual poems for people.

For Christmas last year they had a TSA caroling group (that was shockingly good!!!), a local high school jazz band, and who knows what else. All for the lucky patrons of this tiny little airport with eleven gates.

Quaint airport located in the upper east side of Long Beach, accommodating Southwest, Delta and Hawaiian airlines passengers. LGB offers TSA precheck, CLEAR and has on site car rentals. The airport is in the process of upgrading and has been under construction for several months now. Checking bags is super simple with multiple self check kiosks.
Inside the terminal post security is very nice. I particularly like the outdoor courtyard home to a variety of native plants and birds. It's my favorite place to sit at the airport.
Unfortunately once you're inside the terminal near any gate, the seating is scarce and it's super stuffy inside. There is never enough space during the boarding process and it's always very cramped.
Boarding the airplane is different than a traditional airport. Boarding takes place outside and you often board from the back of the plane or both doors.
Overall, this airport is a great option if flying into the area! I'd pick this over LAX any day! Just wish the terminal was a bit larger because there's never seating and very crowded when lining up to board.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 2, 2024
Whenever I can, I prefer flying out of Long Beach. It's very easy to get in and out, the security lines are a breeze, and very clean terminal. Lots of parking if you're leaving your car and a few casual food and drink places that you can grab a quick bite at.

We prefer flying into Long Beach airport versus LAX because it's a lot calmer and people are generally nicer and not yelling at you for no reason. There's a nice outdoor area with the palm trees so you don't have to stay and wait inside with everyone. It has a small cafeteria if you're hungry. And it's not as crowded and much lower traffic capacity than LAX.
This time when I flew in, I was shocked. They finally have a proper baggage claim area with actual screens to display there status of bags and there are two baggage claim stages. It's pretty nice. It used to be just out in the open so nice to see it look more legit.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Dec 31, 2023
I LOVE this airport, which just gets better and better over time. The new check-in areas, spacious terminals, outdoor post-security patio, fair pricing local food concessions, and new open air baggage claim -- all a five star experience.
This place will be near perfect once the car rentals move out of their sad but functional trailer and into the historic Art Deco terminal building under renovation now.
Grateful for the SJC-LGB SWA nonstop, connecting two of the state's most efficient and pleasant airport operations!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 11, 2024
We returned our rental car and walked to the ticketing lobby. It was a short line through TSA. The airport is small, so there's not much to do here. There is a total of 11 terminals split between two concourses. Southwest is the airport's largest airline. When you line up to board, it's in the middle of the walkway. What I liked about boarding is both front and back doors of the airplane were open.

I will fly out of this airport whenever I can!!! It is small, but mighty. I usually fly Southwest, so it's a no-brained to use LB airport instead of LAX. I'll even pay extra, if I have to, to avoid LAX.
Long Beach Asha's great staff, a decent selection of food, good coffee, a couple of bars, and they are EFFICIENT.
If you are flying in or out of Southern CA, use this airport. Seriously. You won't be disappointed.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
