only took a year. granted, it was for a good cause. picture it. birthday party for a friend's dad. complete with live music, food and drinks on the house.
i remarked to my friend, before i got to sauced on $1 pbr (which was sometimes $1.50 and other times $2, but mostly $1) that this bar is straight out of wisconsin. interesting regulars, great juke box and cheap drinks. a gin and tonic was $2.50.
so now you know. if you want a taste of the midwest, just take the ferry. to liedy's shore inn.
Hands down without a shadow of a doubt this is by far the best live music bar in the entire New York City area (yes I said New York City) the bands here rock into the wee hours amidst a friendly music loving atmosphere. If you have a bucket list of must see live music joint go no further. Prices are reasonable and the Friday night bartender (James) is the best
It's NOT closed. Don't know why this false information is being reported.

The oldest and BEST bar on Staten Island, since 1905. Live music Wednesday through Saturday. Great bands. Ambience of an old, classic bar in the Village right here on Staten Island. No drinks (including martinis and top shelf) over $6.00. Theme nights on Tuesdays and Thursdays with drink specials. See you there!
P.S. Contrary to what it says on another part of Liedy's Yelp page, Liedy's has TWO big, flat screen tv sets that are always playing whatever sports, news, etc. is must see tv!
One of NYC's oldest gin joints, with an antique oak bar and tin tile ceiling. If there's no band playing, you'll probably share the place with just a few locals. Great Rock n Roll juke box and friendly bartender. But the place fills up and rocks when the live music is on - classic rock, local acts. Just plain old fun.
Whether you're 21 or 70, if you haven't visited this place, you're missing out on a wonderful and historic gem. The vibe is awesome, old-school Village-like. The drinks are great and amazingly priced. The tap is fresh and always ice cold. I was there last night and throughly enjoyed the live music; the local band is tight. Classic rock covers for hours! Lots of smiling and dancing. Get there if you haven't been.
This super pub could almost be classified as a "dance club" or "music venue", since there is live music on Wed, Fri and Saturday nights with a whole lotta shakin' goin' on ! Sometimes "Bette Midler" and other luminaries visit.
Several of the talented musicians who play at Liedy's are quite accomplished, including the legendary Jimmy Mack ("when are you comin' back?"). Also entertaining, Larry Liedy, the owner, has been known to treat the audience with his powerful renditions of Blues Brother's classics.
The atmosphere is terrific, from the friendly biking and sporting regulars, to the authentic metallic textured walls and tin ceilings, to the interesting collection of Staten Island-related music memorabilia and artwork. There is even one of the last (if not THE last) authentic telephone booths, which was used by Madonna in making her video for "Papa Don't Preach", that was before Madge owned a cell phone.
This establishment has been in the same building, owned by the same family for 101 years and is a MUST for anyone interested in the history of the Staten Island or New York City music scene, or who just enjoys dancing to live music. Outdoor seating for smokers and ample parking in the corner lot (by the boulders) on Lafayette.
Historic, fun and friendly. Larry Leidy is a Staten Island Icon, and so is his bar. I have been there a ton of times and always have a great time. My parents (who never go to bars) said they felt so comfortable there and enjoyed the experience and seeing the memorabilia on the walls and the great music. If Staten Island had a "Cheers" this would be it.
This is a great authentic old bar, with great live music. Crowd seemed to be older and there was lots of dancing to the live music. Location was cool, and beer was cold. This is a cool place to try out.
