This is an awesome venue for live theater.
It is tucked away in an unassuming building that shares a parking lot with a Buffalo Wild Wings. You'd never know it was there. I may have never found it if it weren't for a friend's post that she was going to be in a show, there.
The show was stellar! The caliber of acting was on par with anything I have seen at DCPA. The production value was exceptional. And, the ticket price was under $30 for front row! The show was so good that I bought season tickets for 2022-2023.
The seating is tiered, so you don't have to worry about someone tall sitting in front of you. There is a large main floor area and balcony seating. They have drinks and snacks available for purchase before the show and during intermission. The drinks were moderately priced, way cheaper than DCPA. And, there is plenty of free parking in the lot.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 22, 2019
What a great resource for Lakewood and other metro residents. In addition to a theater, it houses an art studio for classes, a dance studio and art galleries. I've taken oil and pastel painting classes here. Plenty of parking and conveniently located next to Belmar library and park, shopping/dining and government offices.

What a beautiful space! I'm glad I finally discovered it after living in Lakewood for an entire year and not even knowing it was so close. It offers so much entertainment, and I wonder how many newer residents have stumbled upon it. You can catch a show here, check out some art, or even take classes! I was here for a Warren Miller movie showing, and afterwards, I signed up for a dance class because I saw some advertisements. They have a pretty vast brochure of classes, there's something for everyone. If you're a Lakewood resident, I highly recommend signing up for one. They'e affordable.
It's also a fantastic space for private events. During classes, I've seen some parties in the lobby and gallery rooms taking place, so there's also that availability to rent it out for events and celebrations.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Reviews For U.Denver, CO0322Jan 12, 2020
I'm a former NYC live show reviewer, now living in Denver. We went to see A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum at Lakewood Cultural Center last night. I'd seen the movie, but not a stage production. To my surprise, this show was especially well done and great fun! I've seldom seen such a perfectly cast local production outside of NYC. Forum is a show that requires extremely good timing in the delivery of lines. The humor could easily be lost if not precisely executed. And, because it's such a campy, fast paced show, the body language of the actors is a key part of the show. This production company nails it on all levels. The lead character of Pseudolus is portrayed flawlessly (Josh Kwasniewski). The Proteans, well portrayed by three able 'jesters' are brought to life by a very funny tall guy (Honor Nash-Putnam) whose legs go on forever, and he knows how to use them to create some of the funniest scenes in the show. There are a lot of songs in this show, and the cast is made up- mostly, of vocalists who deliver the songs skillfully as an integral part of the storytelling. A vocal standout shines in the form of Domina (Marcia Ragonetti).
Watching Forum is a little like watching a three ring circus. There's almost too much going on at once to take in. We may go a second night to see what we missed.
Intermission at LCC is a treat. There's a wider than usual variety of hot and cold drinks, baked treats, and more, which makes the evening just that much nicer.
The LCC complex is well laid out for guest ease and comfort, and the theatre is beautiful. It's nicer, in fact, than most of the community theatres in the Denver area. Parking is close and easy, and there are a wide variety of nice restaurants nearby for a casual dinner before the show.
This was our first visit to Lakewood Cultural Center, but it definitely won't be our last. Thanks, LCC, for a great night out in Denver!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Lee B.Broomfield, CO04443Sep 11, 2017
An informative and entertaining evening at the Lakewood Cultural Center. There for wildlife photography exhibit and lecture series. Quite a wonderful facility and friendly staff. Much Thanks to Front Range Wildlife Photographers for all the beautiful photos and artwork..

Went to see "Once Upon a Mattress" at this nifty, little venue. What a delight! Show was well done and funny. The theater itself is small and cozy. We had seats in the front row balcony which provided an excellent view!
** Bonus, they have beer, wine, soft drinks and water in the lobby for sale and you can take your beverage of choice into the theater with you!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jeff S.Aurora, CO30064422May 11, 2012
I never knew this place existed until I bought tickets to see my favorite musical here, and I am glad to have discovered it. It's a very nice layout inside and out.
We came to see Camelot, the theater was small but not cramped at all. I had middle balcony seats, but from wandering around it doesn't appear that there is a bad seat, due to the size. The lobby is very open, and this day it was decorated with artwork from the local junior high students. They offer beer, wine, and premium coffee drinks for intermission, and the staff and volunteers are all very friendly.
I will be keeping an eye on this venue, it has a neat feel to it and lots of potential. I'm looking forward to seeing another play here.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mandy S.Denver, CO012Dec 21, 2018
Well I just came for my third year in a row for the nutcracker. I have always loved the shows and it is affordable and family friendly so I can bring my sons who love the theater. I believe it is very important to expose children to experiences like this. Although this years show was not as enjoyable due to the ushers and the way they treated us as patrons let alone myself as an adult. I just felt as if maybe we were singled out because we came with kids and it was not a matinee. Basically I had my legs crossed and was told to be careful and not do that so I wouldn't possibly let my toe touch a railing and scratch the paint... I mean are you kidding me? I could read the sign directly in front of me and at no point would I put my feet up on the rail. I just have long legs. Then there was another usher who argued with me about walking on a carpeted seated area to ask my mother a question in her seat accusing me of attempting to walk on the stage! I mean I literally grew up in the ballet and performed in the Boston ballet nutcracker, not that she knew that but she sure would rather treat me as a child than ask. She would not allow me to walk to my mothers seat in a seating area and instead yelled at me to walk around. I was very much in shock and just couldn't believe the way she treated me for trying to ask my mother a question from behind her seat. I told her I was not walking on the stage more than once! Anyways, I thought of saying some at the theater but it was late and after feeling so unwelcome ( even after I just was an exhibiting artist in their main gallery last month) I was just ready to go home. I am not one to complain usually either and I don't like confrontation but I just really think there was no excuse to be treated that was by multiple ushers and made to feel so unwelcome when clearly this theater caters to families. Needless to say I don't really want to go to another show there and sad to say if I did I would not feel comfortable to bring my boys again.

My company organized a TEDxED event here yesterday and I must say I was quite blown away by the Lakewood Cultural Center not only as a venue, but by the professionalism of the staff.
I'll definitely be keeping my eye out on events to visit in the future.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Meagan M.Arlington, MA02Sep 13, 2018
I recently performed at the Lakewood Cultural Center in a touring show, and my cast, crew and I had a fantastic time. From the kind, accommodating technical staff to the lovely, personable ushers, everybody made us feel at home. Plus, both the performance space and backstage area are excellent quality and nicely maintained. I'd love to return to the venue as a performer or a patron!
