La Michocana Express

After grabbing dinner at Kaizen Shabu Shabu nearby, my date and I came to La Michocana Express for desserts. I have to say, it was a bit hot and muggy inside considering this is an ice cream shop. There was no other customers in front of us, so service was quick and helpful.

We decided to share a Double Scoop ($6) with Soursop and Pistachio... and in retrospect this was too big, even for two people to share. The texture was on the melty side even as they just scooped it and handed it to us. It also melted quickly as it was exposed to the elements. I don't really like my ice cream too melted.

They have some tables outside, but they are dirty, sticky and not well kept. I had my trusty wet wipes with me to wipe down the table we decided to sit down at and even after the first swipe, you can see the wet wipe turn black. Super gross.

On the positive side, I really like seeing soursop on the menu, as it is a rare fruit only available in areas with tropical weather. Since my family came from Vietnam, it is one of the native fruits that brings nostalgia to me. And the pistachio tasted like there were real pistachio in the ice cream. Taste is fine but the texture kills me. We were unable to finish the ice cream.

Based on desserts in the area or even similar Michocanas, I feel like this one is below par. I would not be interested in coming back in the future.

I hated that place I couldn't even order anything because no one spoke English and not one person offered to help they all just stood there staring. Since I couldn't even order I rate it a zero forget the one star which is required.

Unbelievable $4 for 1 paleta. The girl first asked me if I was paying cash or card which made me ask her how much and she said cash $4. + 0 customer skills

All ice cream flavors have no flavor and taste disgusting and I do not recommend to come here

I walked into La Michocana and bought a water. I saw a posted on the wall from a band I recognized and kindly asked the girls if I could have it.
Both girls said yes. Once I was taking the poster off one female employee said "'not that one, because it been claimed ." To be honest, that's fairly rude ! Confusing as well if they gave me the green light. Embarrassed me in front of other customers.

Normalmente no acostumbro a escribir reviews pero la semana pasada fui 2 veces a la michoacana.
El jueves compre 4 aguas frescas de limón y estaban deliciosas. El viernes regresé a comprar 3 pero no había de limón así que compre de fresa de leche y cuando la probamos están echadas a perder. aparentemente las aguas frescas no son frescas como que ya tenías muchos días ahí. La jamaica no es roja es café y de tanto hielo ya no sabe a nada.
Del costumer service ni hablar Que parese Que los empleados están de mal humor.

Great place always helpful staff. There is many options for anyone. Also the place is clean, spacious and comfortable

Holy moly tits in my aioli this this place is the best thing I have ever put in my mouth. Like. Zero words. Excellent suggestions. Went back to seconds. Just go and try it. Better than any esquite I have ever had in Mexico.

Love stopping by and getting something sweet with my favorites, and the outside patio is very nice

I happened to be in the area craving dessert. Decided to stop here, and was greeted by Andrea. If I could give this place 10 stars just based off her customer service, I would!! Ended up buying 4 paletas de leche, two cups of ice cream, tostiloko, and an agua de jamaica. Went outside where they have a little patio with tables and chairs to sit to enjoy some of these items. The strawberry paleta actually had 2 strawberries in it, so good! The Jamaica drink was not to too sweet and too watery, just perfect for a good cold drink. Next time I will bring my family to enjoy everything right then and there. Again thank you Andrea for the wonderful service!
