Came here this past Saturday for breakfast. My boyfriend use to live in SD so he said he use to come here all the time! When we got there the line was short, but it took foreverrrrrrrrr. Good thing is they have a coffee shop cart next door so you can drink a coffee while waiting in line. We ordered the big breakfast substitute the bacon for avocado(free of charge) our breakfast thT we shared came out to around $10.00, it was so much food we didn't even finish it! Don't forget to go sit on the patio overlooking the ocean as well. For $10.00 and a view this place is the breakfast champ.
Pro: decent American greasy spoon breakfast, quick service at the beach, huge portions for the price Con: what's up with the paper plates? No compost bin? This is pretty wasteful, San Diego. Didn't feel good supporting this place. Wouldn't come back. Not at all worth the line.
Ate at Konito's in PB (great and amazing... 4 stars!) just last week, and paid with a Mastercard... you know, because it's like 2017!! This location doesn't accept cards, though! WTF! Catch up to the latter half of the 20th frickin' century, egh'?
Service is a little slow but worth the wait. My girlfriend and I came her last week, I was craving a burrito for my hangover. Soooooooo glad we came here. Oh good coffee also!!!
YES, YES, YES - breakfast served ALL DAY, yes ALL DAY...so if you want pancakes at 2pm then go get you some pancakes, eggs, bacon and a coffee all for $10. Oh wait, that's what I did :-) FYI: check business hours, this place closes at 3pm, so ALL DAY consist of their business day, however you can still get pancakes at 2pm. Small menu, which I prefer b/c I'm not standing there like a dumbass hold up the line. If you still can't decide, take a menu and step outside. I ordered the traditional, simple, no big fan fare and fast. Served on a paper plate and out to sit on the patio and just look out into the ocean. Very relaxing to sit at the beach, enjoy the view and not get sand in your food. Pancakes, fluffy and a little sweet and HUGE, bacon CRISP and eggs scrambled soft. wash it down w/ a cup of coffee (refills are free) and take a nice walk along the shoreline and enjoy all that is San Diego. Yep, I'll be coming back to KONO's on my next vacation. Crazy thing, BORN and RAISED San Diegan and will ALWAYS be a San Diegan it's in my heart. I left San Diego when I was 24yrs old, growing up in there going to the beach was and IS the NORM, but we didn't eat much at the beach. We would grab food on the way home or just waited until we got home to eat, so to experience San Diego as an ADULT and FOODIE TOURIST is a mind blowing. Hellooo, KONO's has been there since 1991, I was in the 7th grade politely riding the bus/trolley all over San Diego county, never knew this place existed until last week, just a little SIDEBAR :-)
I didn't eat inside the restaurant, but I did stop by the coffee cart in the back. Right on the beach, it's a convenient place to get a coffee to go in the morning before heading to the beach. It is cash only, but it is super cheap. And the coffee is good! No overpriced Starbucks craziness here. Be prepared to wait - it does get very crowded in the morning. But, they work quick. I wish we had eaten here - now that I see the pics it looks amazing! Maybe if I come back I'll stop by.
The California mocha & the razzmatazz mocha is amazing with a shot of espresso added! What a great view & so much better than Starbucks, always opt for small business instead of corporations.
Their menu is so simple, with the simplest ingredients that you could make that same item at home! However, it will not taste as delicious as if they made it that is why their crazy long line is always worth it! Breakfast Sandwich (egg, bacon, cheese, sauce, tomato on top of an English muffin): So simple yet so delicious! The bacon is cooked crispy & the sauce that they drizzle on is to die for! A must order! Cash only!
This is one of my favorite coffee places at Pacific Beach. It's located next to Kono's restaurant, one of my favorite breakfast spots, and right next to Crystal Pier. The coffee here is rich in flavor with no bitter taste. They have many flavor options and the price is average for a coffee house. It's a cute little walk-up wood patio. The staff is accommodating and always friendly. They've helped me with putting flavor ideas together and offer to remake if you don't like it. I really look forward to coming here when I'm in SD. I'll be back, but not soon enough!
Great place to eat by Krystal pier. Great food great prices. I'll for sure be back. (In two years)
Delish. An oversized burrito for $6.50! Moist eggs with all fresh ingredients. Did I mention the views from their deck. Oceanfront dining at it's very best. During peak hours the wait is out the door - but well worth it.
Breakfast with a view. It has been years since I have been out this way but this is always a traditional stop for me. Right on the beach. It goes like this, order your food and they will bring it to your table. Sit outside, behind the shop across the walkway and you will have an amazing view of the Pacific Ocean while you fill up on plenty of food to keep you going for the rest of the day. We started our first full day coming here. Surprisingly, it was easy to find parking (this may be challenging during the weekends). Also the lines were relatively short. I went with the Big Breakfast #2, two eggs, bacon, French toast, Kono's potatoes and wheat toast. My better half tried to go smaller by ordering the burrito #3, eggs, cheese, potatoes and bacon. When I say the portions are huge, you have been warned. The pictures don't even do it justice. Popular place for locals and the prices are dirt cheap.
GREAT VALUE, GREAT TASTE, GREAT SERVICE, GREAT VIEW (ocean front seating across the restaurant). Not much else i could say, just come here and order what you're craving(i got the breakfast burrito with bacon) and you'll leave happy.
This a hot spot located on the boardwalk right outside and off to the side of Kono's famous eatery in Pacific beach. Although I have not eaten there, I have had coffee several times from this little coffee shack. Let me see, I have had an Americano, a Cafe au Lait, and a regular drip coffee. All of them were quite good, especially the robust and rich Americano, and each hit the spot as expected. Lines can be tricky, sometimes there's no line and then sometimes you need to wait a bit, but on the good side, the employees are always friendly and quick. The also offer teas, in the form of bagged teas, and provided an outside patio seating only, unless you go inside the eatery next door to buy some grub.
Oh my goodness. It's so good. It's SO good. This is just basic simple food done really well. Cheese on cheese on cheese - I got the egg scramble. The "small plate" is gigantic, don't be fooled. Eat here when you're hungover and/or not planning on functioning for several hours. I just waited in line for a half hour and after ordering my food was ready in 5 minutes. They're busy but quick. Coffee was terrible. Very friendly people
came across this place while in san diego great place breakfast was so good there was a line but not long if you can get a seat near the beach you can eat beach front which is a plus I had big breakfast number 2 huge portions I would suggest coming here for good breakfast.
Could not understand the hype to be honest. The line was extremely long to get in. Only benefit is the line sits along the boardwalk. Only drawback besides the line being long to get in was you're standing in the way of people walking or riding along the boardwalk. To lighten the stress of standing for over 45 minutes, I grabbed some hot mochas next to the cafe to keep warm and getting a headache not having consumed a thing for a long period of time. Fast forwarding, the minute you walk in, you'll be lucky to find seating indoor. I suggest you have one of your parties grab a table ahead of time. Chances of getting decent seating indoor is not so great. Not only is it packed, and the place small, but you may piss off the people ahead of you who may have been eyeing tables standing in line as long as you have. Breakfast was also very boring. The dishes were the similar to what our kids can cook for us. The eggs in the burrito was wet and undercooked; somewhat inedible. Wouldn't go out of my way to come back, sorry.
Kono's is THE BEST. Grab a delicious and give potion of food inside and head around back to their coffee cart (super good) and grab a drink as you sit on the boardwalk and look at the ocean. Not only has the same family owned this for as long as Incan possibly remember, but it is the best and most polite service with a genuine smile. Honestly I would eat there every day and go for walks up crystal pier if I lived in the area! PS the earlier he better, long lines after 8am (but worth it)
I really, really, really like this place. Probably one of my favorite breakfast spots that's affordable and just delicious. Whenever I come here, I get the Big Breakfast #2 ($7.95) which consists of 2 sunny side up eggs if you choose that particular egg style (they ask you how you like your eggs, so I'm sure if you pick scrambled, they'll give you a ton of that), 2 pieces of perfectly crispy bacon, a really nicely toasted english muffin, a good amount of potatoes that have melted cheese and onions on them, and 2 incredible slices of french toast with powdered sugar sprinkled on top of them. It is a large amount of food, but just the right amount and the flavor and quality of the food is great. This place opens up early around 7AM but also closes early around 3PM on most days, but at 4PM on the weekends, so try to come before it closes! I've come here about 3 times and during the first 2 times when I came later in the afternoon, there wasn't a line. However, the most recent time I came in was on a Sunday at 8AM and there was a very long line. This spot has seating inside, but it also is located right next to the beach, so you can take your food to go and find a nice bench to eat at while gazing at the ocean, which I did and I loved it. The service here is sooo friendly, especially the cashier. Most happy and friendliest dude every time. There is also a Kono's Coffee cart outside that has a selection of Hawaiian coffee. I got the Iced Coffee here which tasted really roasty, but was good and different. This place has awesome Hawaiian breakfast food as well as other lunch items, so definitely check it out! You will not be disappointed.
I am not one to go to the same restaurant twice but I am absolutely obsessed with this spot. I do have to warn you it is cash only but there is an ATM right across the road. You receive your food on paper plates which makes it convenient to bring it down to the ocean and eat. The line might be long but it moves quickly and it is well worth it. The price is reasonable, come hungry because their portions are huge. Their food resembles a fresh homemade meal. I order the breakfast sandwich and breakfast potatoes and I have yet to be disappointed.
