9/10/2015Super yummy! Really enjoyed our meal at Kodomo. Clay Pot beef was amazing, Salt and Pepper Shrimp were great, drunken noodles were fantastic. I'm from Boston (so my perspective on local pricing is not that strong), but the portions were huge and bang for the buck was outstanding.
This is excellent food for anywhere.

10/21/2014Updated reviewCompletely re-editing my review. This place is back to normal and the food is great.
Still a favorite in the Hudson Valley for asian food.
3/19/2013Previous reviewI thought I already wrote a review... but anyway... Ive eaten here about 9 times. The hostess is so SWEET!! The food is good. I always order the shrimp in the shell... I think it is called the pepper shrimp? Anyway.. I like it. A year later - it doesn't come in the shell anymore and is super over cooked and the shrimp are hard they have been cooked so much ... Bad.

2/21/2015Wonderful Service, atmosphere, and entrees. The chef sent over a complimentary side which was avocado wrapped in cucumber. It was delicious!
Our only disappointment was that the "Chocolate Lava Cake", which was described as chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge, was actually a quite hard cold brownie with some cold chocolate syrup drizzled over it and a scoop of vanilla ice cream that we didn't like very much.
We'd love to go back but will not order the "chocolate lava cake" again. - Crystal H.Kingston, NY252
5/24/2017I was allergic to miso and they gave hard time about swapping soups! Thought i was sharing food but wasn't! Didn't get all food on time , I had to ask more than twice and waitress gave a attitude! Use to enjoy eating lunch but now its not pleasurable at all! I watched them seat a big crowd and then could figure out whose food was whose! Not happy at all!

10/8/2014I was convinced there was no place to get good sushi in Kingston until I tried Kodomo. Not only is the sushi some of the freshest I've had, the presentation and atmosphere are fabulous!
They have a very large Asian fusion menu as well as an interesting & delicious list of cocktails. Some of my favorites include the St. Patrick roll and the White Tuna sashimi. The Tuna Tartar, although a little expensive, is completely worth it! I promise.
Since my first visit a year ago, I have been back numerous times. - Rob C.Saugerties, NY022
9/5/2013We've been here a number of times and never been disappointed. Two of my dining companions are very picky sushi fans and it's their new favorite place. (I concur.) They have some excellent special rolls, both on the menu and the specials board. The fish is extremely fresh and flavorful.
What's also special about Kodomo is the pan-Asian menu. There's something to please everyone. So if you want sushi and your companion doesn't, you don't have to compromise on the quality of food. One of my favorite dishes is salt and pepper shrimp, usually found on Chinese menus. They prepare it beautifully. It's hard for me not to order it each time I'm there. - Tatiana K.Woodstock, NY1043122
1/4/2016So spot on every time! Perfect sushi! The ambiance has a really cool feel to it. The Sweet boss roll is a MUST HAVE! Whenever I have something to celebrate I suggest this place. The do hibachi, I haven't done it yet however the hibachi tables are always packed!

12/6/2016This is one of my favorite sushi spots. The people are alway friendly, food is fresh and delicious plus the ambiance of the restaurant is just right.

12/15/2013This is THE best sushi in the area. It is consistently delicious, service is above average and I like the small, intimate decor.
Lunch specials are ENORMOUS! Whenever I get one, I order an extra side of hibachi rice and take half to go for tomorrow's lunch. What could be better-- two filling, delicious lunches for $13?
My favorite rolls are the:
Angry Dragon Roll* ($15)
Shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, avocado, soybean paper wrap top with king crab, caviar and special sauce.
Sweet Plus* ($13)
Shrimp tempura and avocado topped with spicy tuna and tempura flakes.
... And I am addicted to their good 'ol, regular spicy tuna roll.
Skip dessert, it is nothing special.. however, I enjoy their cocktails -- mine was strong and on point. I could easily eat here three times a week.
